Rare overpriced stamps are those which are very scarce due to their limited number of existence. These are especially those which have some kind of printing or overprint defect. In addition some stamps were removed from the circulation immediately after their issuance due to some political reason. Such stamps are also very desirable as only few copies exist. While collecting, one of the basic rule to remember is that the condition of a stamp is a highly important consideration. Badly torn and mis-handled stamps are not only unpleasant to the eye, but they are worth next to nothing when compared to their undamaged counterparts.
