Really like videos of these kind of untouristy scenes of China. With your translation and explanation in English, it really helps non-Chinese speaking ethnic Chinese all over the world to understand and enjoy their heritage. Thanks to you we get to see and experience the wider China through your videos. Great job. Love it!

I can hear the voice of your Chinese grandmother harping on you to learn Chinese
@MultiQuesi Жыл бұрын
@@sooofisticated0499 well, it's not that I don't know any Chinese at all. I do speak Cantonese, and my main language in daily usage is mainly English with some Malay too. In Malaysia, many locals are tri-lingual. When I said Chinese, I meant Mandarin (or Hanyu) and usually only those who have attended Chinese-medium schools (here) have this ability. Whereas, generally for Malaysian-Chinese who were schooled in Malay-medium ie government/state school, we tend to lack proficiency in Mandarin. The Chinese diaspora in Malaysia are made up of various Chinese ethnic subgroups and each have their own dialect. We learn our mother tongues from our parents and grandparents informally as every other ethnicity does. It is true learning Mandarin can be challenging. I always get my intonations wrong :P and it can be funny! :). I recently learnt that Cantonese has 6 intonations v. Mandarin's 4 .... so maybe it shouldn't be as difficult as I'd thought. :))

Yan, It's been an absolute pleasure watching your videos. I never leave comments on videos, but I am compelled to write this comment to tell you how thankful I am you decide to share your adventures with us all and how glad I am to find your channel! You do an excellent job of showcasing these lesser known places in China, and I think you are much more knowlegable than the other youtubers who make videos about Chinese cities. I love all the drone footage too! Your authenticity and sincerity really shines through in these videos you make. This is just my opinion, but I think you are fully invested in making content that satisfies your own interests and not concerned about following trends and thinking about what gets you more views (though you are growing quickly in subscribers). I find that when content is not motivated by growth or viewership, the results are so much better, and it certainly helps that you are such a good ambassador to all the places you visit. Your humility and warmth is unmatched and I hope it stays this way. You show the kindness in humanity in a time where media often just shows the worst of it. After you are done touring China, I hope you get to travel the rest of the world again, and I am excited to see where you go next! 😊

Thank you so much for the subtitles! I know they are extra work, but it’s so helpful to have the English and Mandarin side by side, for those of us who know a little and want to do better. I spent 6 months in China on a teaching exchange and I love the people and culture so much. Your channel both helps me remember it and makes me miss it more. Thanks for what I know is a lot of hard work.

Hi Yen, I bumped into your channel 3 weeks ago and now me and my wife watch all your videos while we have our dinner every night. We luv your opening line when you say 'Good morning internet' 😂. We will be travelling to Guangzhou next month to visit our families after 4 yrs lockdown and we are so excited to come home.
I sincerely hope that the mainstream media like CGTN will produce some documentaries with your videos from both seasons so many more people can enjoy what you do. They are the most enjoyable, honest and informative videos I have had the pleasure of watching. I hope in the future you will do a season on the amazing infrastructure in China, the outstanding modern projects created in recent years. You never fail to make me smile when you say good morning at the beginning of each program. Looking forward to your next video.

Another wonderful video I love watching. The faces and foods were familiar to me in my childhood days in Vientiane, Laos, a country next to Yunnan Province. We had a handful of minorities from the highland, coming in to the capital to sell their produce. They were Mio, Yi and a few more. They did not speak much Laotian, nor my own mother tongue of Mandarin. In my school, I had a few classmates they were minority, but seldom would they tell me about their background. Anyway, we sang the same national anthem and pledged the same slogan, every day in the school playground before we started our lesson for the day. Believe me, they were the national anthem of the Republic of China, and the slogan to take back Mainland! Our Chinese teachers were from Taiwan (RoC) and must be faithful KMT believers. But, I am now a naturalized Singaporean, and I love my adopted country as well as my far away birth country, that is China.

Thank you, your video is so interesting. People in Shiping are so accommodating and the town stretches quite an area. The segment I love most is the cautious uncle who scanned your note for counterfeit. 8:35 Eels fried with dried chillis is delicious and nutritious. Eel is rich in omega-3 fatty acids - for anti-aging and if you want to conceive, eat more eels. 14:39 Rice wine has a very high alcohol content. If you use black glutinous rice; a slight difference. Cook neat, with chicken, black fungus, lots of ginger then laced with brandy before eating, very potent. 17:46 It reminded me of your haircut at our Indian barbershop. 22:22 Chinese artichoke same family with Cordyceps. Make chicken soup to boost fatigue and energy level.

Giving the cost of travel would be helpful too. While I understand that the price may vary but knowing an estimate would allow some planning if travel on budget. 😊 As always, Thank you Yan!❤
