In this episode the action continues at Los Buzos Resort in Panama as we mothership our 12 kayak fishing clients to a protected area called Punta Blanca. There we begin handing out lives baits, dropping the vertical jigs and throwing poppers. The fishing is on FIRE yet again with tons of roosterfish action, and one client hooks into a lesser-known trevally species that we turn into DELICIOUS ceviche back at the lodge.

He looks right at that fish and says "that's not an African pompano" I'm just going by what Robert said. I watched the video on my phone, so it's pretty hard for me to tell one way or the other

If you've got the money. Go fo an Accurate instead. Twin drag and a much higher build quality and better QC. I've seen Avets fall apart easily. Most the guys at los buzos are using valiant 1000 reels. I've got a 500 & 800. As well as a 400 Tern. Love them all.

Dope video. Emailed Adam at Los buzos to ask about trips in the next year, hope to make it down there before too long. Curious- what would you most compare a rooster to in terms of their fight/habits? Caught a lot of big AJs in Florida and they look like they fight pretty similarly.

Daniel Kemp Kind of similar to an AJ. An AJ is more prone to go straight down on you and is more likely to break you off. You can kind of relax with a Rooster as they’ll rarely put you in the rocks. A big AJ probably has more brute force pound for pound than a Rooster. Especially in the first few minutes of the fight. Roosters seem to have a littler more endurance.

We call 'em African Pompano over here, and they aren't necessarily rare, you just have to know how to target them. Super yummy, also. The juvenile of the species have looong streamers off their dorsal and anal find. So very beautiful. You are living the dream. Enjoy it.
