It was nice to see the American flag and Confederate flag flying together. It's truly pathetic that political correctness has been trying, in most cases successfully, to destroy the history of this country.

The Confederate flag IS an an American flag. Maybe you meant the United States flag and the Confederate States flag seen togetht
@glennt8687

@@panthercreek60 The Confederate flag is NOT an American Flag. The American flag has 13 stripes representing the original 13 colonies and 50 stars representing the 50 US states on a blue background. The Confederate flag was the flag of the Confederate states that represented the states that seceded from the Union.
@panthercreek60

@@glennt8687 Yes, you also described another American flag. There's are many different "American" flags, and the Confederate flag , it it's various iterations is just as American as the United States flag, the Georgia flag, the Minnesota flag, etc

Great video. My grandfather's grandfather was a Virginian who served in the Confederate Army of Tennessee. Maybe he fought alongside of some of those old guys.

Power could not corrupt, Death could not terrify, Defeat could not dishonor. The American Confederacy was the greatest resistance to federal tyranny in our nations history. Truly the greatest generation EVER!
@glennt8687

The greatest generation was not brother fighting brother in the civil war. The greatest generation were those that fought and died during WWII to save the world from Nazi Germany and Imperialist Japan.

@@glennt8687 Both generations were fighting to save their families from the brutal tyranny of oppressive governments, but ultimately both generations failed. The failure of the first meant the efforts of the latter were for naught. Demonstrated by how everything they accomplished by winning WW1 & WW2 was systematically dismantled (and often turned to the opposite effect intended) by a greedy, corrupt, and oppressive Federal government. A government which no longer answers to (or is held accountable by) the people ever since they took those rights from them during the "Civil War". America died in 1865, and her idea has been on life support ever since only by the fiery will of indomitable patriots who have refused to surrender her spirit, but we all can hear the death rattle now... Will we hear a final whispered gasp as America becomes a distant memory that fades into myth I wonder, or will that rattle become the beat of war drums that brings her spirit back with fury and vigor to rise like the Phoenix and reclaim her place as Lady Liberty! 🤔🇺🇲🦅[X]

@glennt8687 There is no such thing as the greatest generation. There are, however, great men and women in every generation.
@glennt8687
@glennt8687 3 ай бұрын
@@Packard1947 I totally disagree, there may be a few great men and women in every generation, but the greatest generation was during WW II. The entire country endured and suffered while our greatest went to war and defeated the Nazi's and Imperalist Japan. Without those millions of brave men and women, this country would not even exist as it is today.

Is it silly I didn’t know we had movie cameras back then 🤔 Beautiful film 🎉 It’s sad to think many of those men didn’t make it home and many of their homes were destroyed by Sherman. The old dog in the front of the horses got me most though.

1894 aprox. Is when the "movie camera" if you will came out. This was filmed Way later. Well after WW2 some of it. (maybe the majority?) I cant quite make out exactly what Tanks they show @ 5:43 either to be definitive on that one. Once you start looking at the background youll spot enough to tell you roughly what year/era. Some of these blokes lived to be over 100 yrs old. Interesting nonetheless. Cheers

There were alot of old cars in the film, I would guess this was filmed in the 1930's. It looks like most of the confererates attending were in there upper 80's, making them in thier teens when the war broke out in 1861.

These parades and on a more zoomed out view society as a whole during the time these were filmed were about joining the country back together, promoting unity rather than the divisiveness of today’s society(you’ll note there were US veterans that traveled to the south to attend and unite over the hardships of war they had endured. There were also many black veterans from both sides in attendance.) Neither at this parade nor in modern society were or is anyone “defending” slavery.
