These trunks from the 30's and 40's represent a bygone era when the elite would travel on luxury ships and steam trains for weeks at a time; sometimes they would have 10 or even 20 of these commissioned trunks and cases. Brands like Louis Vuitton, Goyard and Hermes still make bespoke luggage on special order at astronomically high prices but even the wealthy don't really travel like this anymore. Theres no need to when you can be on the other side of the world in less than a day.
