Recognizing the Dread River bottle from the blurry thumbnail and couldn’t believe it. Here is the rundown. The master distiller managed to get barrels that he made while working at another distillery in I believe NC. So, he basically sourced his whiskey from himself. But yeah, great stuff. Love Dread River!

I was actually at Bluebird a few weeks ago. It's a charming little place and they have a surprisingly large selection of whiskeys for a local microdistillery. I highly recommend their "American Wheat" or their "Phoenixville Whiskey" for anybody who is in the area and able to stop in for a dram.

Recently had a local brewery bring me some "sample's" of their products and one of these beverage's had a piney note to it something the brewery was proud of...I then shortly after learned I too am a Fopish Dandy that is not a fan of the Pine Sap note lol

I started watching your videos and making my initial journey into whiskey (I'm Canadian eh) and have really been enjoying it. I've been down several roads now. Highland park viking honor, Jameson, Monkey Shoulder, just got some Laphroaig 10 and damn if it's not like a dirty ashtray up a sweaty Highland kilt. Not bad at all. Redbreast 12 and Monkey Shoulder so far though boom. Can't wait to get into Michters and Green Spot

I immediately knew what Daniel was talking about with the red hot notes. As a kid, birthday parties had those vanilla icing cupcakes with red hots on top. And invariably, some kid would go around picking the red hots off all of the cupcakes. I imagine the note Daniel is describing is the cupcake, now sans red hot, but with a little of that cinnamon flavor, and red food coloring, leached into the icing.

I know this has nothing to do with the episode. I am trying to join the face book group and have not been accepted yet. I went back and checked to make sure I had the answers correct and I ran across the old-fashioned making. I came to whiskey through the old-fashioned. I have the bullet rye and its ok in there but I really like the clyde mays straight rye in it. The bullet gets overwhelmed by the orange where the cldye mays maintains its edge.

So, I'm listening to Rex say it's so easy to make a simple website and put "XYZ" on it...share some details about the product with the public, which it is! Well, I happen to be good friends, with a couple of people who run Sazerac marketing, specifically eCommerce. And while they'd love to put the info Rex is talking about online, the guys who "own" this info, aren't big sharers. They guard their "secrets". I'm sure it's that way with most distilleries...especially the older ones.

I live in the southern tip of IL, I like to lightly fry them in butter with a bit of tarragon/garlic with some pasta. Use them like any of the more broadly available fancy mushrooms. I grew up having them lightly dredged in flour, and quickly fried before the fish went in. I try to mix it up some.
