Love the scene at 5:26 where the loading ramp is being repaired WHILE the tank destroyer is rolling up it and onto the flatcar. Not a minute to waste!

I noticed something out of place in this video...time stamp 6:42 shows the gun breach open to the right and at 6:57 the gun breach is now open to the left. Maybe they were testing two different types of gun types during testing?

Seems to have been mirrored in the original reel. I did not notice this before.

at the end „build our own weapon“ was an act of desparation by the exhausted german troops, they just had not enough good tanks, must create such vehicles with armour protection only against infantry weapons, one hit by an enemy tank and finish

At the same time the cost of converting these French tanks was extremely low and the damage these mobile artillery units could inflict was severe, you wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end of these things. The French had basically given them a load of outdated tanks, they would be a waste if used, these were not. They were used in France (defensively) I.e “ambush vehicles” and came in very handy, better to have a mobile artillery unit than not have one. The Pak - 40 (75mm) was a nasty weapon, it saw use throughout the entire war.

what Hotchkiss tank variant is it at 5:24 ? it does not appear to be in the shape of standard a 7,5cm PaK 40/1 auf GW 39H(f)
@PanzerPicture2 жыл бұрын
You mean the one with the tent on it? They have a special harnesses to cover the top and the gun.
@sturmpanzer04732 жыл бұрын
this one yes! However, it seems that there are some sort of rectangular plates on the side (covered by the tent) which are of a different shape from the other GW 39h(f), could this be a unique Becker prototype? or maybe it's a visual illusion created by the tent?

@@sturmpanzer0473 it looks like some short of tool rack under the tent, which makes it look funny.
