I love this story! Im so excited! that it's growing here in the US. I love Chicha Morada. My parents are also from Arequipa and Mollendo. As a kid, visiting Peru from the US, I remember always drinking that. I would call it the Peruvian Purple Punch😁. There is also a purple pudding you can make from the juice of this corn. Thank you for sharing this story. God bless 🤗

🤔💭it didn't produce well for me in Oklahoma, our winds broke or laid over most of the plants. So i bred it to the Montana Morado Maize and am currently in the process of selecting a much shorter(6'-8') and earlier maturing(100-110 days) Peruvian Kulli corn while keeping the MMM cultivar 100%.

It makes amazing cornbread. The best in my opinion. I had a really rough year for corn here in 6a. I planted it on Father’s Day and it weathered through a major wind storm, but it produced well and even had as many as 5-6 ears on some stalks. Sometimes it even sent 3 ears out of the same spot on the stock. I will definitely grow again next year if at all possible.
@joshuavazquez55342 жыл бұрын
No way it produced 5-6 ears on one plant and if so they must have been small cobs

Is it day length sensitive?
@RareSeedsBC5 жыл бұрын
This variety is less day length sensitive than other strains of maiz morado, however it is still a bit sensitive to day length... where are you located? 10 to 14 hours of light max is good for this variety so if you live too far north and your days are longer, you will not be able to get ears!
