Absolutely fantastic video my dude it's so refreshing to see some of the more obscure rare nes games being talked about instead of just stadium events and nwc. 2 games I didn't see in this vid are gargoyle's quest 2 and megaman 5, both of these games can easily fetch over $100 in decent shape

Ive heard that Koei's NES cartridges are rare, and can fetch quite a bit of money. Koei's games did very well in Japan, but they didnt hit much fanfare in North America. However, from what I understand, Koei knew they had a highly devoted fan base and knew that fan base would buy anything they developed, so they made a profit just based off the fact that they knew how many cartridges to get Nintendo to manufacture for them (Nintendo wouldnt take back any unused cartridges). I know a mint condition copy of Bandit Kings of Ancient China with the instruction booklet can fetch $350.
@PlayasGuide6 ай бұрын
Koei has quite a few games that are hard to come by, and these games have all really gone up in price. There are a few that are more common then others like Nobunaga’s Ambition. People used to avoid these games but they've had a lot more interest in the pass few years. My favorite is Gemfire, which is yours?
@scottythegreat16 ай бұрын
@@PlayasGuide I love Uncharted Waters 2. I know Uncharted Waters would be my favourite out of their NES games, and I like it mostly for the history, the first entry aged quickly, the second one didnt. Koei really improved the game mechanics for #2, and thats why its the most popular entry in the franchise.

What interests me is that many of these rare games are sequels including Bubble Bobble 2, Chip and Dale 2, Duck Tales 2, Power Blade 2, Bomberman 2, Godzilla 2, Power Punch 2, Goal 2, Casino Kid 2, and Contra Force. I assume with these games being sequels, they must have been late releases which makes them rare.
@PlayasGuide3 жыл бұрын
First of all, you were amazing in Super Bad so thank you. Second, yes you are bang on, not all but many late release games and sequels did not get the acknowledgment and reception from gamers as hoped.

Licensed NES Games 1. Stadium Events 2. Dino Peak (Rental Exclusive, Small Boutique Stores) 3. Bonks Adventure. I believe is “slightly” rarer than Samson. In terms of actual carts made. In was a 1994 release and one of the final 15 games released on the Nes. It was also a limited edition release being it was a port of a previous console game (1989-1990, Turbo Grafx) 4. Little Samson, Panic Restaurant & Power Blade 2. 5. Bubble Bobble 2, Zombie Nation, Pro Sports Hockey, Kid Klown, Cowboy Kid, Dragon Fighter, Snow Bros. 6. Wacky Races, Gun Nac, Mighty Final Fight, Tournament Fighters, Sword Master, Rescue Rangers 2. Off the top of my head and after collecting hardcore since 2009-2010, going to conventions every other year, living in different areas of the country and being involved in multiple collecting scenes talking with people who have collected since the early 2000’s this is probably my best “guess” on the rarity of NES games.

I still don’t get why Nintendo Power had that gold cart as a give away. Just separate the fact that it’s worth a bunch of money today. If you were a kid back in the 90s, would you rather get some weird competition cart or, you know, an actual game. Such a weird thing in video game history.

I covered loose for this video since I figure it pertained to most collectors and casual viewers. Perhaps I will do a CIB collectors guide episode in the future, maybe even a sealed. actually, the numbering for the gray NWC goes to 350, not 300...... 26 of those were used to make the gold carts, of the remaining 324, almost 80 carts have been found/verified so far (not 100) as far as Stadium Events goes, there is NO proof that it was pulled from stores, it might just had poor sales in general, and not many were shipped to stores (despite the print run) , also, where are you getting 300 from? most if not all sources cite a magic number of around 200, that made it to buyers.
