maybe that's why when she is talking in english, she can pronounce the "L" better that the average japanese,
@yareyare_dechi4 жыл бұрын
L and R are pretty much the same sound in japanese, there is no real distinction thats why a lot of people struggle with it. there are a lot of people that pronounce their らりるれろs with a sound close to the English L (im personally one of them). they do one or the other but get confused when asked to say both. its like "both? theyre the same sound?."

She didn't make a MGS joke, Ra Ri Ru Re Ro is the way in which the "R" line of Japanese characters are read, similar to Alphabetical order. This can all be solved by the word “non-rhotic”
@btCharlie_4 жыл бұрын
Not really, non-rhotic leaves out the R only if it's not followed by a vowel, and in Japanese all Rs are followed by a vowel. I think it's the distinction between L and R, or lack thereof in Japanese. Unless they study a language that has those sounds, the Japanese grow up without training to tell those sounds apart, which in turn means some of them pronounce it more like L and some more like R. (And also it leads to them having a hard time telling the sounds apart, which is why a lot of them don't even realize they don't say L but rather the Japanese R, hence Engrish.)

I have a bit of OCD. When I look at a picture that is perfectly symetrical, by brain can put away that memory as "nothing wrong there, perfect execution.". When I see a picture that is almost perfect, but one part of it doesn't conform to the rest of the picture, my eyes always gravitate towards the anomaly. My focus is drawn to the imperfections, wanting to smooth it out. When listening to Korone pronouncing R's as L's, I had the same thought. Of wanting to fix it. If I had a speech therapy class, I would take the time to teach Korone how to say her R's. But the imperfection is a part of who she is. As she said herself, "We are all different, and that is what makes us wonderful." 🥲 The way she speaks is unique and should not be changed, in my honest opinion.
