Hearthstone is a card game based on WOW, it is also a digital card game.

The game is brilliant, lots of iconic characters with good animations, great universe and lots of interesting decisions. The gameplay is very cool too, distributing the power among three different choices feels great and grants you ability to outsmart your opponent, literally messing with their head. Even better that the game is made by a well-known studio, who granted us the best characters, who are loved across the world and I'm really feeling like they have not only very unique effects, but also that their effects are lore and ability based, that's so cool. Also, the game is grind-free and can be played completely f2p, while maintaining a great collection and being able to test different strategies. . . . . . . . . . . Sorry, I was speaking about Gwent

best part is the way the cubes work and how if your feeling risky you can just "snap" to increase the cube amount cause it doubles at the end and the game encourages you if you think your loosing to leave so you loose only 1 or 2 cubes and you also can tell when your revealing first or your enemy from the golden border around your name so you can strategize around that

From a player at collection level 100 it's a great game in terms of gameplay and aesthetic. Every game is different because of the locations and every turn feels like you are making meaningful and key decisions. My only current concern is the progression system since it they do not let you craft cards and you have to rely on luck for which cards you open. Which means you could get unlucky and never open a card since the levels required to unlock a full collection are insane since it slows down very quickly.

The roadmap talks about 'tokens' to allow players to save up to buy specific cards they're missing. While you'll definitely hit a pain point at the start of Pool 3, it shouldn't be too painful. You're definitely locked out of certain archetypes (I've only got 4 cards left to get but am missing Hell Cow & Dracula, which are two of better discard tools) but it does encourage experimentation.

Yeah, my complaint was more along the line of how it sorta sucks to be playing against players with better cards than you that you just don't have, but it does result in very different decks for people based on their opened pool. It really discourages net decking in that way, which can be seen as a good or bad thing.

@@shinobu153 There was definitely a point where it hurt (Hell Cow and Mr Negative were definitely broken, which put me at a lesser footing to rank up) but as long as you're not hyper-competitive, it's not an issue. The meta is quite open now and the balance changes they've made have all been helpful.

There is quite a lot of bots , sometimes there is an easy play from the enemy for them to win , and they just whiff and place it somewhere else, it happened to Rarran a couple of times here, where he said : oh I'm losing, and the AI just whiffed it

The lower ranks match you against a lot of bots but as you make it to the higher metal ranks they progressively vanish. I would say they help more than they hurt even though they might overstay their welcome slightly

Yeah, between snaps, locations, and tons of viable decks there's a lot of complexity. And if you're good at snapping you're even incentivized to make your own decks because it's easier to bluff if the opponent can't track exactly what you're doing . And snapping also makes more kinds of decks viable (this all happens at higher level play when people have more collection (I'm in beta))

That's why I always say that simple =/= simplistic. Mechanically, this game is pretty simple (at a core, not a lot more than just a numbers game of "2 > 1", with some added abilities) - but it works well, and some of the best and most endearing games are the simplest, because having game mechanics that are simple and straightforward can actually allow a lot of complexity via tight gameplay. Rather than trying to get a handle on many different mechanics, and learn complicated sequencing or multi-step interactions, players are instead just encouraged to explore the strategies that the few mechanics provide.

@@DiabloTommaso I mean there is a season pass everything else is time gated you literally can’t not buy anything to speed you up except once a day. You really have to play to progress. So depends spending money is not really incentivized it literally stops you after a certain point. F2P is actually recommended though I would buy the season pass. For example So I spent 75 on a season pass +10 spots and gold to turn into upgrades and it has taken me three days to actually turn that into upgrades which have given me a total of 50 collection levels (200-250) which gave me a total 20 ish cards I have gotten 200 levels from playing and am still playing mostly the Odin and spectrum decks that are a guaranteed drop. So no I wouldn’t spend money other than to support the game. But you are not running into a bunch of super high level decks with a bunch of cards you don’t have because you didn’t spend.

I'm am LoR master primarily, played a lot of MtG, some GoT LCG etc, so when I saw an add yesterday I decided to download it. I was worried it would turn out to be an easy cash grab without much substance but I must say I like it so far! The amount of people that obviously are first time card game players is through the roof though, I've already won like 10+ games where I should have lost, but my opponents had clearly dropped the ball, misplayed and given the game for no reason, just like here in the video 😄

How do you get cards, packs and stuff? what's the best way to make a start on the game? Do they give you any free stuff to get started with?

You build all of pool 1 and 2 really quickly. Pool 2 gets you into more complex mechanics. Collection works by upgrading the looks only of cards (not the abilities) which raises your collection level. You get multiple cards per day, but it slows down to 1-3 cards per around collection level 1500. At 1500 your collection is probably 70% done. Took me a little less than 3 months to get a full collection. You can spend money to collect faster but that's mostly only good if you need to change decks a lot. Even speeding the collection rate doesn't makes you get the cards that much faster. There's also a monthly pass that gets you 1 card early. Collection is free if that wasn't clear but the 1 card from monthly pass is time gated

Understandable that Rarran only has nice things to say because of the sponsorship. HOWEVER, if you want a balanced perspective on Marvel Snap go watch the video Zeddy made about it a few months ago. Yes, the game itself is good, but the monetization is predatory and the game is designed to give you a lot right away to try and keep you hooked before it sharply drops off. Not saying that the game is a pile of garbage, but it DEFINITELY isn’t as good as this video and the comments on this video make it out to be

@@thunderstruck560 well the fact that youre already that high level within the first week of release implies that it shouldnt take long to get new cards. Just be patient. Eventually you will get all the cards and whats better is you get all the cards for FREE. You could spend money and it rewards you with pretty considerable amount of currency to get more cards. Its a lot frendlier on the wallet and the time compared to other card games.

Having no casual mode is the whole idea here. People are now all playing in a competitive environment since the start and this is SO COOL. This is one of the best things + the fast games. Two of the reasons that this game is different from other CCG's in such a good way. Amazing game overall in my opinion. And i am a really competitive Legends of Runeterra player. When I launched the game, the audio balance was incredibly bad, after 2 "matches" I just flew through as fast as possible because of not being able to get into any menu I just quitted it because it felt ruined. It's a very fun game untill it isn't anymore. At some point the game rapidly stops you from progressing, making it only possible to progress with real money or slowly for free, every day in micro baby steps. I already bought a welcome package and a season pass to support the devs the game and to pay my tribute... so i thought. The season pass can be bought every month for a new season for like 10 Euros or so? You can also buy cards for gold und upgrade them in 5 tears as far as i know. Depending on what gold package you purchased and that you bought the card with 700 gold each plus upgrade cost, than it's 23,26 € in average per card to be upraded to ultra. Remember you could also play for free, but it will take you very much longer after around collection level 200. Almost a 100 Euros for 4 cards to be shiny is insane. That was my first and for sure last money i have put into the game. It's the same scam like with every other overhyped mobilegame... Theres a difference between wanting to make money to finance a product and attempting to emptying out pockets aka digital robbery. And theres a difference between designing a game thats fun for kids to play and to enjoy with friends or a piece of shady scam software that only purpos is to keep you playing and paying or to feel stuck while you are not paying. Ben your project is effed up...

In my opinion the game becomes really stale really quickly. The balance of cards is way off and the random element of locations, while nice is ultimately very limiting and often feels unfair. Especially the ones summoning random cards or giving you a free 6 cost. The randomness factor is major because of how short the games are and how little ways to react to it there are. They are way too swingy. The game being stuck in Portait mode isnt really helping matters either. It's fun, but only for about an hour, so for a mobile title that's a decent score, but not for a PC release. I hope with this game the creators have learned to release the balance changes often and swiftly and not like during Ben Brode's Hearthstone era. Many people say that it's "Not Pay 2 Win", mostly because it's only been out for a single day. Going to the shop, you can see that most offers are actually pretty bad deals. Definetly not the Hearthstone killer people want it to be.

I played this for 13 hours on the first day of downloading so I completely disagree. The RNG makes it fun but if you get shorted by it you can just retreat with only losing 1 cube. Winning 8 cubes feels amazing and is much better than sitting in a hearthstone game for 20 mins. When hearthstone started there wasn’t much to the gameplay and had very basic cards so give it time.

@@marleonka. it kind of is because match ups are rng anyway. As a basic example, in hearthstone if you are an aggro player and you match up against control you will nearly always lose. In Snap you can retreat and lose 1 point as soon as you see a very unfavourable matchup if you know the decks and then win quadruple that in the next match. Also in hearthstone if your opponent discovers something ridiculously good it feels so bad but in snap if I get bad rng I’ll just retreat, no big loss. Saves me time and points

@@marleonka. its excellent design, rng is inherent in card games, there are going to be some games that you lose no matter what. The snap and retreat mechanic reward you for knowing the game and losing smartly. Taking a quick 1 cube loss and moving on allows you to mitigate the overall impact rng has on your rank progression.

@@raz1572 Yes, but Marvel Snap goes out of its way to make the RNG as big of a factor as possible. All the other things you mention are just mechanics to get you hooked and encourage gambling. You can call it "losing smartly", but what it is, is just bluffing, gambling and encouraging to play more "because its so quick"

Same. Hs is like waiting on fun, snap is always having fun, and it's more strategically complex
