Just found your channel 2 days ago, and am thrilled with the information ( and the cat snoring!). Your channel is unique in that you dish out so much practical advice that a young person, or an older person can find his/her inroad into dancing because you cut straight through the garbage --the emotional baggage that keeps people from feeling the music. Great help for people who've spent decades dancing alone, or dancing with tractor trailers, horses, power tools on a job site (who are new at dancing with another human).

Very good tips. What do you do when the partner goes crazy with footwork?
@DanceWithRasa5 жыл бұрын
Try to catch his attention to show him or her that you had enough 🤣 or go crazy yourself if thats your thing 😊

I recently discovered your channel and really like these longer videos where you reflect on a topic. Good to hear the opinions of a more experienced dancer. I wish more dancers did interviews and similar things where they have to verbalise their thinking. More please!

Since you ask.. How about Rasa´s five practical tips for musicality, both when dancing solo and when dancing with a partner? Maybe even two separate videos. ;) It´s such a huge topic, but rarely do I see practical tips. Usually just blanket statements like "remember to be musical!". And I bet everyone would claim that they dance musically. Just like you mentioned in an other video that everyone claims that they are careful with their space on the dance floor.. Some musicality workshops at festivals have been pretty disappointing, teachers have gone through basic things like song structure but not what to do on the dance floor when e.g. a montuno section starts. When dancing solo you can do pretty much anything at home in front of a mirror if you feel so inclined. But musicality with a partner is a different game as well. How to approach musicality with a partner at a social? Anyway, food for thought!

Well firstly watch one of my musicality videos that i have on my channel. But i will definitely make few more different ones to cover things in more depth...great idea 👏

Amazing and very informative videos Rasa. I am still a beginner, I've been doing Salsa/Bachata classes about 6 months now but anytime we are dancing with partners, wether in the classes or socials, most of them (including the teacher) tell me that I need to RELAX. Have you any tips which will make me a more relaxed dancer and not dance like I'm in a panic to do the routine/turn, which sometimes makes me not do what the lead wants😱. Thanks Rasa!

I will make a special video just for that. In the mean time any time you feel like you tencing just take a deep breath and keep breathing, should help 😉

I have the same problem. When I dance normally in the club I'm fine I can move my body to the music but then when it gets to dances that have specific steps I'm just too busy thinking about the steps that I can't relax and I'm also tense so sometimes it's hard for the leader to move me the way they want to, especially if they're doing something I haven't done before instead of just being relaxed enough to go with the flow my body just tenses and my mind goes 'wtf *does not compute*' It's very frustrating especially when I see dancers who move so fluently and just move however they want. But I guess it's also experience.

@@giuf175 exactly....you know all the answers, its all about practice and experience. Im also making a video for you guys on how to relax easier, hopefully that will help 😉
