Thats another example of the mantra that says country reflects life through its stories 3 chords and the truth.

When I came back from Iraq, I ended up in South Carolina, and rented a house in a surbaban neighborhood near the base I was working at, and there was a young neighbor boy next door that was diagnosed with cancer, having to go through chemo. such a horrible thing. And as he began losing his hair, and his parents told him, "might as well shave it now"... I and several other neihbors cam to the house, along with several of his neighborhood friends, and we all sat down to get our heads shaved first, in support of him. :)

A few years ago I was blessed with an amazing friendship. Jacque and I bonded over our love of Labradors, our special pups, her love of my photography (my strongest supporter), and lots of little things. Kind, giving, compassionate, intelligent and so much more made Jacque who she was. In 2018 on her birthday she was diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer ... had surgery was told everything was clear. A few months later shortly after returning to work she as in an accident, ER doc said he was glad she felt okay but since major surgery a few months back he wanted a scan ... the results were shocking ... she had Stage IV ovarian and 12 other primary cancers (all stage 1) ... insane. She kept fighting ... this past fall I started "dancing" with her as she had grown to weak to stand without help. She was terrified of falling as we moved from bed to wheel chair, wheel chair to lift chair recliner ... to the toilet .. into car ... so as I picked her up she wrapped her arms around my neck and we danced. I would hum to her and kept telling her I had her I promised she would never fall ... I kept that promise. She always apologized for being a burden and I told her every time she wasn't a burden, she was a gift. I danced with her for the last time in the ER on Dec 14th as I moved her from her chair to the bed in the ER. I picked her up completely and laid her back onto the bed, she held on and cried a little. 7 hours later they asked about resuscitation if necessary as they were settling her into ICU, she chose none. She fought for another week with strength and dignity far beyond anything I would have. The dancing in this video tore me up. Sebs I'm glad your daughter was a fighter too and that she is thriving, your love of your family is clear. Thank you for being open about that. I didn't know I needed another cry but seeing this video helped release some of my pent up emotions. Take care and go dance with your daughters and wife as soon as you can ... yes put on music and dance with all, and with each one individually.

The real Sarah Beth is the girl swinging from above the stage in the video. This was a true story and just another song that country music brings to life in a truly great way. Keep up the good job of reacting to the videos especially the country ones. I was never a country fan until the 1990's when the music being produced at the time and currently left me without any enjoyment. I was raised in New Jersey and hated country music but oddly enough, my favorite concerts I have attended since moving south to North Carolina are country concerts. Reba McEntire is one of the greatest shows I have ever attended and she is one of the reasons my opinion of country music changed. Thanks for your great reactions.

Although I have always lived in the south I was never a country fan but my husband is. Years ago he almost forced me to go to a Reba concert. It was amazing! And helped cracked that shell of acceptance. I won't say I'm a super fan but I'm not a super fan of anything. I enjoy and appreciate most genres. Its more about the song for me rather than the style its delivered in.

I am so sorry that you and your wife went through the nightmare of your baby girl being ill. I am thrilled that she is okay now! This song hits so many people. In January 2008 I shaved my head in support of my sister-in-law who had started chemo....she didn't lose her hair!! Four months later my dad died and his only daughter, me, was almost bald which threw a lot of people off! I have shaved it again in support of a friend. But now it's my turn...59 year old woman with no hair due to an illness I have. I have come to believe that bald is beautiful and more people should willingly become bald in support of others. In the grand scheme of things, hair is way down the list. But at Sarabeth's age, I would have had the same reaction.

Country Music, is a genre that speaks to your life, to your lived experiences. Trace Atkins has a song called "Songs about me" which is basically about someone not liking Country till they actually went to a concert and realized the songs spoke to their life and similar experiences. Country is a lot more about heart, spirit, and life than most other genres. Its not all sad songs but Country has a LOT. If you go to any funeral in a rural state I can assure you 90% of the playlist honoring the dead will be country songs that remind the listeners of them. A few years ago my 23 year old sister passed. At the time and for awhile after there was this song on the radio that anytime one of us would turn it on it was playing, And its "You Should Be Here" by Cole Swindell. He either wrote it or he recorded it in honor of his father who had passed. But that song was always on the radio and so we couldn't escape this song that she actually really liked and it talked about how this person you love and miss should be here with you and it broke us every time. Even now years later I hear it and think of her, think of all those we have lost. But I don't just think of her sudden passing (she had a seizure) I recall how much she liked the song and all the things in her life she did love and it makes me smile. So even the sad songs can bring a light into the life of those who hear it. Then there are songs that gut you, that leave you in tears every single time you hear them. I cannot listen to "My Little Red Balloon" by Kristina Cornell or "The Balloon Song" by Mark Wills because both speak of children dealing with the passing of those they love and it destroys me every single time because of the passing of my grandfather when I was a little kid. He was my best friend and my mentor, losing him was and is a wound I never really process till I hear these songs and it reminds me of the grief of that time. Listen at your own emotional peril.

Great reaction and yes, a great song. This was released as a 'secret' track on their CD when it came out, at the end of the other songs but not on the label. I'm not a teen by any stretch, but I was diagnosed with cancer at 49 and through various treatments have held on for 13 years and counting, but a few years ago I had to go through chemo and lost my hair. I didn't think it would be such a big deal for a guy in his 50s, but I HATED the sensation of being bald and wore one of those knit "cancer caps" 24/7. I was so glad when it mostly came back in, although my moustache of 40 years faded away for good. I don't care for how I look without hair on my face, so I have to settle for a scraggly Amish style beard these days. For a teenage girl, losing your hair would be devastating.

This song is tearful. It's moving. Our oldest daughter, when she was five , had scarlet fever. She came so close to dying. After weeks of being so sick and weak, the medicine was finally working. We were amazed . Our oldest was going to make it. She stayed weak for months. Somehow she got stronger. It's so scary when you have a child so sick. She got better. Ended up serving in the Navy. Then fate turned it's ugly head again, she got diagnosed with female cancer in her tubes while she was serving and being deployed. She has to take the honorable discharge to deal with her cancer treatment. It was so heartbreaking and traumatic. She had to give up serving her country which she loved. She lost her beautiful dark wavy hair. She fought hard for two years against that horrible disease and finally beat it. She is my hero. She is a tough fighter. She's a momma if a beautiful girl who looks just like her. We almost lost her twice to two diseases. This song gets me every time I hear it. It's touching and sweet and so graceful. My heart goes out to every parent who has dealt with these tragedies in their lives. God bless all.
