Break into the decisive battle, become part of the 3rd Brigade ab3.army/
Echeloned attacks like in the Second World War and the overwhelming of our positions with meat are not exaggerations, but the reality of the fighting in the Bakhmut sector. Today, in the issue of How Are We Doing with Viktor Rozovyi, we are publishing an interview with our friend Khata, who will tell us about his recent combat trip to the hotspot of Donbas and his military career.
Khata has been at war since 2014. He joined Azov in early 2015. He retired from the service in 2020, but with the outbreak of full-scale war, he immediately joined the newly formed Azov unit and took part in the defence of Kyiv region.
"To be honest, I was shocked at Moshchun. It was the first time a helicopter was shooting at you, the first time a plane dropped a bomb," Khat's friend shares his impressions of the first days of the full-scale invasion.
Then there was the Zaporizhzhia campaign, which began with an attempt to unblock Mariupol, but due to the enemy's fierce defence of the line, it could not be completed as planned.
"I thought we were f**ked. But the most important thing for every soldier is not to be a pussy," says Khata.
After defending Ukraine's borders in the Zaporizhzhia sector, the Azov unit took part in battles in Donbas, particularly in Bakhmut. There, Khata coordinated the work of his unit.
"From what my guys who were directly on the ground told me, these were echeloned attacks, just like in World War II. In a crowd of 30 people in full growth. They don't appreciate their own men and chase them in herds to machine guns, mortars and artillery. Our guys had two Browning machine guns, they killed 50 men in a few days, and they kept on pearling. It's f**ked up," says the Azov man.
According to Khata, what he saw in Bakhmut does not fit into any rules of warfare. After all, in an Azov unit, each fighter is a valuable combat unit, and his death is a great loss for the unit.
After the so-called "meat", Khata explains, come the Wagnerians, who fight differently, but their attitude towards their men does them no honour.
"In the first 3 days, they pulled up all their reserves, and we successfully ground it all down. Then more or less trained guys from the Wagner PMC came in and started running in twos. A sniper came out, a spotter, drones were raised, everything was as it should be. But we held our positions and gave them a decent fight back. Their losses were no less than those of the guys who had been there a couple of days before. On the video from our copter, there is a trench where they are stacked on top of each other, and on the side near the exit from the trench, two guys are standing smoking and talking about something," the fighter says.
Whether he expected a full-scale war to break out, what he thinks the enemy currently has an advantage in, as well as his favourite films and books, Khat's friend tells us in today's episode.
