"First you need to suppress the occupiers’ will to resist so that they become really scared, and then they give up much faster," - the fighters of the 3rd SABr "Darwin", "Sokil", and "Guenon", comment on the video of a successful combat operation, they took a direct part in, in the Bakhmut direction.
The objective was that groups of stormers had to recapture a forest belt in which the occupiers were firmly entrenched. One of the groups of fighters had to do this behind enemy lines. For some of them, it was their first combat mission.
"The situation itself was that there was a forest belt that needed to be taken. Movement occurred from the front side in the usual way. One of the groups simply advanced, gradually displacing the enemy. The second group, in this case ours, got into the rear, cutting off their supply line. That is, their reserves couldn’t approach them, because they would run into us. They couldn’t run away, they couldn’t get ammunition delivered to them. Thus, we cut them off in order to destroy them later." - "Darwin", the platoon commander, explains.
From the very beginning, the stormers had to work in the conditions of extremely dense small arms fire. And later, also under targeted artillery fire, due to which some of the fighters were shell-shocked. Despite everything, the stormers could not stay in one place, and it was necessary to constantly move forward.
"It was important to keep moving forward, because before that, "Foka" had reported that enemy artillery was being aimed at us. If we had stopped and started messing with them for another half an hour, then their artillery would have aimed at us much more accurately," - "Darwin" tells.
According to the stormers, the occupiers who held the forest belt set up their platoon strongpoints very competently - in the root system of trees. They were difficult to see and difficult to reach.
"We fired more than one clip into the dugout, it was pelted with grenades, and then the guys fired at it with RPGs and VOGs. But, anyway, the f*ckers were lying there behind the wall and were, in principle, alive," - mate "Guenon" comments.
The absence of the visual contact with the enemy, and often with each other, significantly complicated the work of the fighters. It was not always possible to quickly determine whether you were facing an enemy group or your own.
"Many times there was such a situation when we entrenched ourselves and observed some kind of movement in front of us. It was hard to tell if it was our neighboring group as we didn't have visual contact with each other. Plus, a reserve group of people arrived, whom we did not know by sight. And we thought: "Most likely, that’s the enemy, because their direction was somewhat suspicious." And then they shouted to us: "moscow capital". It must have been their code word. After that, we already realized that it was the enemy," - "Darwin" recalls.
For about a day, the stormers of the 3rd SABr held the defense in the enemy's rear, cutting off the supply line of the occupiers. The next day, the neighboring units fought their way through to the fighters, finally displacing or destroying the enemy in that area. As a result of the combat operation, several kilometers of Ukrainian land were liberated.
