I work with many South East Asians..They tell me many stories of the struggles they went through in their country! Like the Khmer Rouge, they never taught us anything about it in school. Cambodian people are VERY humble but are WARRIORS at heart... Im Mexican and i respect what your ancestors been through, i learned a lot about your people - 🤜🤛

Its horrible. What happened in Cambodia is probably one of the worst cases in recorded history. I've heard horrible accounts that i cant even mention. No better than Hitler. But for some reason you dont learn about it in school.. Im from Chile and people dont know of the dictatorship, mass killings and torture that began on Sept 11, 73 and left our parents traumatized and exiled from their Country. I learned this early but its only the white mans history that seem to matter

The part where he talked about his mother got into me! Growing up with no father and just my mom, it was hard and I definitely know how it feels! My older brother was part of the MOD and he never let me join the gang or be like him! Lazy reminds me a lot of my older brother! My brother got killed in a drive by! 💢So people know why the TRG's, East Side Longos and the Insane Crips, where a lot of RAIDER gear is cause each letter stands for something. All 3 of these gangs reside on the East Side of Long Beach so it goes like this: (R)emember (A)s (I) (D)ie (E)astsiders (R)emain (S)tanding or (R)emember (A)s (I) (D)ies (E)astsiders (R)emain (S)hooting !!

You have my respect Vanna, even though I don’t know you, I’m also Khmer. I too went through similar situation you and your family went through. I’m from San Diego, the difference is that Khmer gangsters in San Diego used to always beating me up. I left to Seattle in 92 right after I graduated from college. I got jumped by OLB,I was wearing blue when I visited my older brother in Rainier. I was never involved in gangs but I have lots friends that were in the gang. One of my close friend I grew up with in San Diego found out I was jumped. So him and his friends drove non stop from Long Beach to Seattle with intent to search for the guys that jumped me. I told my friend to not do anything about it. Years passed after I ran into the very same individuals that jumped me while I was attorney in the City of Olympia. I was the able to get most of the charges dropped and helped these individuals get less sentences. It’s funny how life works sometimes. I wish you the best on endeavor Vanna and to those that are struggling. Life is tough but we can be tougher then life.

This race war is stupid. Mexicans and Cambodians are very similar, we both had families who immigrated here for a better life and we both had to struggle with them growing up.
@GhostRider03
@GhostRider03 6 ай бұрын
It's human instincts. When you feel pressure that your race, your people are being pushed out, it's a natural instinct to press back. If race wars are stupid, that speaks volumes on colonialism cause that's the biggest race war the world has ever seen. It's a fight of superiority. At the end of the day we are all human and it's imbedded in our dna to protect our own, but it's also taught as a social structure that we are segregated. Race isn't just a physical part of us, it's also taught in schools to divide. Superiority can only belong to one race in the age we live in and they make it more apparent by the day

This story genuinely has inspired and motivated me even if i never had the hard life as some of these guys. It’s about breaking through oppression and your own trials and moving forward to become a positive impact on people’s lives through our passions .. god please watch over this man and his family may your blessings fill every area of their lives. When I went to visit my family in CA, i got along with these dudes real good. Every city I would visit (we all from the hood every city) we would get along real good because of the similarities in life we had. It was always a war over some girl most of the time. Other time was just stupid pride. We've been to many uncalled for funerals but that's the way of life if you choose that path. This documentary is "THE" "BEST" & "SINCERE" documentary that I have ever seen in my 52 years of my life. Vanna is a warrior who fighting through the battle of growing pains. He was born to be a leader even when life throws curve balls at him. Vanna's love for others is so genuine, he is rich with love and that is why his Rascal Family look up to him even if he knows it or not and I truly believe he will not misguide the youth or anyone because he knows how that feel. Blessings are coming his way when he lest expects it.

awesome doc. watched this when it came out. i can relate in some ways. especially how when they were kids, they all danced and were innocent. just like me and my homies. as we grew older, we stopped. some of us joined gangs, some got into drugs and the rest actually did alright. I look back at those days with a smile because it was the last time in life where we were just kids having good clean fun.

I'm from Washington born and raised and the crew I ran with in middle school and high school were affiliated with T.R.G. and also The L.A.B. I went to the event in Olympia that they speak about here in the video I was only 12 at the time. I have friends who looked up to lazy and his b boy crew. They were way better then the other crews and we all were in awe of them and a good friend of mine actually practiced with them quite a bit.

@@mr.kweeks5086 78 Baby!! Scorpio…we grew up in special times. The back end of the crack era, which was the intro to the meth era. I remember seeing Oliver North on the news everyday because of the Iran Contra scandal. Which I really paid no mind to back then but as we know about it now, was the Reagan Era cocaine smuggling military operation that would get Rick Ross’ life sentence over turned. One of my older brothers joined The Marines right after high school and went off to fight in The Gulf War in 1991. I was 12 years old and he was 18 on the front line fighting a war. The beauty of it all…what makes everything so memorable even to this day is all the great music from that era. It was the dawn of all Hip Hop/Rap. Everything was new and original and was good! It was also the dawn of the grunge/alternative music scene and that sound was cool af too. What I wouldn’t give to go back to spend a day in the 90’s….

19:17 damn that part hit close as a Laotian fr. I also heard the same voice during the funeral jumping scene. Who's voice is that/where is it from? And pushing that button, man. Hearing how Vanna couldn't do it, shit made me tear up. I still got moms and pops but one day they won't be here with me, and I'll have to go through the same thing. I'm glad breakdancing helped him.
