Adam, go back to Connecticut. You're a weird looking middle aged tourist spending too much time with people half your age. You have the disposition of an older guy hanging out with high school kids desperately trying to adapt to what's "cool." I see your true self: a New England kook who's better off at a hardcore show in Springfield than a guy interviewing gangsters in L.A. Even your weak code switching to street talk is cringy. Make money, that's great, but don't be the creepy poseur you obviously are.

5:20 I know it's a sad story but as a current 23 year old, it makes me feel a lot better about myself hearing this hard as fuck asian dude (I'm filipino) talk about how crazy it is to be independent at this age. I struggle a lot thinking that I'm too old to be living with my mom, I should have a good job by now, etc. just because I feel like it's what's expected of me. I just finished college a few months ago and I'm scared as fuck living through these times for my future and being able to support my family. It really puts me at ease just to hear it's alright to not have my shit worked out by now, even though I'm trying. Super unrelated rant to the rest of the video but this one part just hit how I'm feeling atm

Hey homie you have along way to go. I'm 41 and just kinda git my shit together a few years ago. Stay away from drugs and you'll accomplish things you've never thought possible. I promise you that. I'd love to see neighborhoods getting covered in San Diego... Little Saigon and the neighboring communities. The Buddhist mourning ceremony in the hood is real. The community has a lot of intergenerational trauma. Their parents are usually boat people, refugees from the wars in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Burma. They went through a lot escaping their home country and escaping the violence there. Sometimes, they can't manage their trauma, and they unintentionally pass it on to their American-born kids. The kids get involved in the gangs, the gambling, and the drugs, and it's off from there.

As an immigrant from the deep mountains of Laos, I’m Khmu, Indigenous to the Laos country. My dad was in the military, serving the American CIA during the Secret War during the Vietnam War. We migrated to America in 1980, I was an infant, my mom and dad were in a culture shock, but knew it was what was best for our family to refuge to America, since Laos was completely bomb with cluster bombs 💣 (more bombs were dropped in Laos than Hiroshima) Or any other word past and present. As a first generation South East Asian American, we definitely didn’t get the love back in the early 80s. We were picked on, bullied, beat up, called names and many more. We had to fend for ourselves it was hard growing up in the hood whether it was Long Beach LA the Bay Area in the deepest heart of Richmond California where I grew up it was very difficult growing up in a vast majority of a black neighborhood as the only or shall I say singled out Southeast Asian American. I was bullied and picked on everyday, that I had made homemade Nunchucks, and beat a black kid down with it after school for bullying me everyday. The bullying didn’t stop, bc I transferred school and it started all over agony This video I see that it happens clear across the country of the United States. As a first generation Asian boys growing up, We had to fend for ourselves, linking up together to form a unity of a gang whether it be Crips or Bloods, it all boils down to and depends on what neighborhood we had grown up in that distinguish what color we had claimed during the time.
