Do you have what it takes to become a U.S. Army Ranger? To become a member of the U.S. Army's 75th Ranger Regiment, candidates must first graduate RASP (Ranger Assessment & Selection Program).
The 8-week course features a variety of physical and mental challenges. The second and fourth week of RASP, the class is sent to "Cole Range"; a remote training area of Fort Benning, GA designed to push candidates to their breaking point both physically and mentally; Candidates forego day and night land navigation, challenging team exercises, sleep deprivation, fitness tests, and more.
There are two separate phases of RASP: Phase 1 primarily consists of day to day, week to week physical and mental toughness training, and includes rigorous "smoke" sessions (blocks of time specifically geared toward using physical training as a tool for corrective training and instruction) that are used to train the group if a particular task, condition, or standard is not met, and also incorporate a necessary environment of the unknown to each soldier. Phase 2 training includes marksmanship and baseline breaching abilities. Ranger history is also the subject of training.
RASP is broken down into two levels of training: RASP 1 for Junior Noncommissioned Officers and Enlisted Soldiers (pay grades E-1 through E-5) and RASP 2 for Senior Noncommissioned Officers, Officers and Warrant Officers. Candidates will train on physical fitness, marksmanship, small unit tactics, medical proficiency and mobility. Training is fast-paced and intense, ensuring 75th Ranger Regiment candidates are prepared to employ their skills in both continued training and worldwide operations upon reaching their assigned Ranger unit. Throughout the course all candidates will be screened to ensure that only the best Soldiers are chosen for service in the Ranger Regiment. Regardless of the course, all candidates must meet the course requirements in order to serve in the Ranger Regiment.
Upon successful completion of RASP, the new Rangers graduate at the Ranger Memorial, or in the event of inclement weather, Freedom Hall where they will don the tan Ranger beret and will have the scroll of the battalion they will be assigned to put on their shoulder.

@@bobk2899 Nope. I was in Charlie company on the south side of the quad. Used to watch the sun come up from my window and had a nice view of Mt. Rainier. We used north fort for RIP and Pre-Ranger training. I’m not familiar with the the battalion layout anymore but back then Charlie Co. shared a barracks with 10th Aviation, their chow hall was part of our barracks but I hardly ever ate there because ours was so much better. We ate like kings. From the pictures I’ve seen it looks like the battalion’s barracks and facilities have improved a whole lot. Is it even in the same place ? How many guys are assigned now, we were always undermanned ? I imagine the barracks are larger. I really would like to get out there to see it. What I get on my social security check don’t leave much for traveling but someday I’ll get out there if I have to hitchhike. Thanks for replying and I’ll try to keep in touch with you. Got an appointment at the VA in Clarksburg WV tomorrow may have time to check your channel while I’m there. Drive On Ranger.

Your mother's only looking out for her son. But it's time to put your big boy panties on and make a decision for yourself. If you want to go option 40 just make sure that is truly what you want.. it made me a man, soldier and I got to do a lot of really fun things. That being said, additionally I saw some horrific things that I wish I cant get out of my head today. I suffer from a TBI and severe PTSD. I get 3 hours of sleep a night. And many nightmares. I lost a family over my issues and dedication to the country. That being said, I wouldn't change a thing. It's a great career and lots of fun. But something that you need to think about seriously. It's not a video game. There are no do overs. We worked with a lot of Air Force PJs and they were just as badass as we were, perhaps that would help ease your mother's mind. She loves you. Good luck my friend.

What age is the cut off for RASP and do you have to be in Active duty ?
@SOCOMAthlete
@SOCOMAthlete 6 ай бұрын
For Army Rangers, the age cutoff for the Ranger Assessment and Selection Program (RASP) is typically around 41 years old. However, this can vary slightly depending on specific circumstances and the needs of the Army. Regarding your second question, yes, you generally have to be in active duty to attend RASP. RASP is designed to assess and select soldiers for assignment to the 75th Ranger Regiment, which is part of the U.S. Army's active duty forces. Candidates can come from both within the Army and from other branches of the military, but they must be on active duty status. This includes soldiers who are transitioning from the National Guard or Army Reserve to active duty. Keep in mind that the requirements and policies for RASP can change, so it's always a good idea to check with an official Army recruiter or the Ranger Regiment for the most current information.
