@@Anonymous18817 I’m not a Delta Operator, never been to OTC. However, I have been to Ranger School, another physically demanding course in the US Army, albeit surely not as hard as OTC. You would be fighting an extreme uphill battle from a physical standpoint. I’m not saying it’s impossible but I have seen extremely fit women fail physical events that mediocre guys make it through easily. I have a friend that’s a female infantry officer that’s extremely physically fit, like top .01% of female physical fitness level fit. I, as a fit but nothing to write home about guy, was able to easily subdue her in a (friendly) fight. Like it wasn’t even fair even though appearance wise we have about the same muscle mass, in fact her legs are bigger than mine. The problem is just that men are essentially on PEDs when compared to women. The genetically supplied cocktail of hormones a man has are performance enhancing drugs that will make our bodies far more capable. From my experience I would say you would need to be either a genetically gifted woman in that aspect or take PEDs. Maybe it’s possible to just train hard enough maybe it’s not, but that’s the reality. Mostly I’ve seen women fail runs and upper body strength focused events. So if you are really dedicated to the idea I would become a cardio beast, make sure your legs are as strong as possible and you’re upper body is ridiculous as far as female physique goes. Unfortunately you will have to train much harder than the men do, you won’t recover as fast, and you won’t see the same level of physical gains without taking PEDs. The worst that can happen though is you fail, and ultimately even if you do, it’s a crazy laudable goal that very very very few women even attempt.

He spoke about that inherent fear of not knowing if you would show up to work only to be told that you’re done. It must be such a nerve wracking environment to exist in on a daily basis. But the mentality that these types of environments seem to create must be a huge factor in what makes these teams, and these operators so special.

A Soldier of mine went the Delta Support route. He did 15+ years in the unit. First time I saw him after we were last together in the 101st was when he came through the NCO Academy as one of my students. Dude was all grown up sporting HALO Wings, Master Blaster Jump Wings, Ranger tab, and a damn Scuba badge (as well as doing Air Assault and Pathfinder). He also earned two purple hearts the hard way. At one time I envied him for getting to do all the cool hard-core shit that I wanted to do. But that life came with a heavy price. Sure, after 22 years of service he'll be guaranteed to get some cool job as a private spook or wearing a Hawaiian shirt and Oakleys doing 3-letter agency stuff. But he has never been married and does not have any kids to pass on his name. He's one of the coolest dudes that you'd ever meet but, in the end, I'm glad that I'm just a 5 jump chump POG with a legacy.

Hi, I’m a 22 year old woman and I’m from Arizona. What advice would you give to a woman that wants to be a Delta Force assaulter? How does the Delta community feel about women joining them? @firerose4271 Delta force assualters are the top .1% of their field. You're basically asking what it takes for a woman to win gold in a male Olympic sport. Not gonna happen. There are other SMUs or even roles that are geared towards women. Join the military and excel.

Richard Marcinko, creator of Seal Team 6, said that women were in Delta in the '90s. Read up on the Army specialties that will be accepted by the 75th Rangers. Delta takes 70% directly from Rangers, other 30% are Green Berets. Women have already completed Ranger and Special Forces selection. I know of the wall of pictures he speaks of. I saw it first hand during my time in OTC in the mid 2000s. There are classes with many graduates. By many, think of a couple squad-sized elements, maybe a small platoon size here or there, and some with as little as 1 or even NONE if I remember correctly. It has been many years for me but even then, the "Unit" had been in existence for over 20 years. I remember how shocked I was at the total number of operators that have ever served in the unit were depicted in those photos and you would be surprised at how little the number was. At approximatly 14 years into what ended up being a 20 year stint in the Infantry, I accomplished a career long goal of attending, and completing the Army Advanced Land Navigation Course in the wonderful mountains of West Virginia. That is how Delta selection appears on an ERB by the way. It is referred to as CAG or Combat Applications Group and that is what was on my little card that I had to help me get into the compound in the mornings at Ft. Bragg. Although challenging for sure, I actually enjoyed selection as it was not a leadership school. There was no additional "stress" induced. It was pretty much follow the instructions as written, have the appropriate amount of weight in your rucksack and be where we tell you to be. Then it was land navigation day in and day out for about 3 weeks. Beautiful terrain and as long as you didn't get lost, it was actually cool. The board at the end was far scarier than anything else up to that point. I believe I was in that board for at least 2 hours not kidding. After quickly moving my family and reporting to Ft. Bragg within weeks of passing selection to the dismay of my losing unit at Ft. Polk, LA, I was quickly introduced to a world of secrecy and training at a level I had never dreamt of. I wasn't a "Bat Boy" from 75th Ranger Regt so I didn't have any first-hand experience working with these guys as many of the other guys in my selection class did. I ended up making it a few months into training before I got the dreaded call to the office where my mentor informed me that I was being dropped from OTC. It was a kick in the teeth as I had never failed or been dropped from any military school up to or since that point. Always amongst the most physically fit in any unit I had served, I had even competed in and finished respectably in the Army Best Ranger Competition on a couple occasions but these warriors who make it through that process are at another level. A humbling, nearly year long process from applying for a packet, to getting a date, to attending selection, and ultimately being dropped, but learned more from the most elite professionals in the world without a doubt.

To the comments below. Keep in mind he’s fresh out. Huge factor in his speech and his first interview in depth guess he’s watching what he says as well. Excellent interview.

It's very hard to speak off the cuff about your work when what you did was/is extremely classified. It looked to me like he was trying to be as careful as he could with his responses as to not give too much info, but still keep his train of thought and formulate coherent sentences. It's a very difficult line to walk. Nothing but respect for this guy.

This gentleman strikes me as a military version of Elon Musk. He seems to have 300 thoughts going through his mind at any given time.

Hi, I’m a 22 year old woman and I’m from Arizona. What advice would you give to a woman that wants to be a Delta Force assaulter? How does the Delta community feel about women joining them? If you had to go to Delta Force selection again, how would you prepare differently? Has a woman ever graduated from the Operators Training Course? I’m 5’8” and 168lbs, is that a good or bad size? What books or workout programs would you recommend to prepare for it?

I have the upmost respect for this man and his service, he seems to be still suffering from CTE given his sentence formation. I hope he gets the help and rest he needs to heal.

It seems like he's being very careful how he answers questions. He doesn't want to step outside that boundary of what is allowed or not allowed.
