I really enjoyed this video, though it had some redundant parts. You explained scraping 3 times. ;-) I'm waiting for my Raspberry Pi 5. It shipped on Monday the 13th via 5 day shipping from England, so I'm hoping it will show up tomorrow. Oh, I noticed that you're using the Thinkpad desktop keyboard. I have considered getting one of those. Do you like it? It might be something worth reviewing on your channel if you're so inclined. Cheers.

Thanks for your comment. The thinkpad desktop keyboard is a very nice unit. I really like the integrated trackpad, it's ideal when you have limited desk space!

In the UK the commodore was the more expensive so we started with the ZX80, ZX81 and spectrum, just received my Pi5 8GB - hopefully should decode FT8 more deeply than Pi4 while still displaying the output. 8GB is overkill for my needs but since they sell out so quickly, I grabbed the opportunity to get one.

Moved to mini PC with much better emulation, every day desktop use and over all performance for slightly more than a Pi 5 would have costed me with a buggy, clunky and not very user friendly Raspbian OS. In fact all the OS's Ive tried with it felt to be more novelty than anything. So for the masses is a bit of a stretch in comparison between pc's over all and the Pi. There are a lot of PC options out there that are not giant desktops that break the bank that run circles around Pi systems.

The Pi5 looks great. The problem is availability. You have to pre-order them and wait 3+ months to get it. That is a long time in computing. If they really want this to be a computer for the masses then they really need to step up their production by a factor of 10.

Raspberry Pi claims that by Q1 of 2024 these will be stocked well enough that you can buy one off the shelf without waiting. The problem is mostly demand, not supply. They sold and shipped 14 million Raspberry Pi 4s over 4 years and still couldn't keep up. They estimated that the demand was closer to 30 million. So with the Raspberry Pi 5 hopefully they'll make a lot more, because I suspect it will be even more in demand.

Certainly, it's for masses since impossible to buy it.
