One thing I have learnt from Rassie is that all of us as South African, black, white colored you name it, we've got a lot of unlearning to do. We need to be honest enough to identify that some of the things we were thought growing up by our different communities are not so true. We need to be bold enough to look past the stereotypes or the perceptions we have about other races and see things for simply what they are. At the end of the day if I jugde people of a certain race based on what I've been told, I don't even think I deserve to be called a man because a real man makes his own decisions independently not based on what the majority or the group is saying. That is exactly what Rassie did, he choose to give the players of color an opportunity to prove themselves so that he can base his judgment of them on facts. That's all we ask for, nothing much.

The gwijo on the background alone sums up everything for me. I was playing for Winter Rose under 15 when Makazole first joined Winter Rose club, it was in 2009. The man was a beast in the weight room and on the field, as a result he only played few games for under 21 that year and went straight into the first team. Everyone was raving about him and he was only 19 years old at the time. He is the most humble guy I have ever met. Seeing him on that trophy bus tour in Cape Town just brought tears in my eyes because I have seen the grind and his humble beginnings. I am sure ooMr. Koshe notata uNompilo are happy with the man you've become mntaks. You'll go down as one of the greats in my history books. I don't even wanna talk about Rassie, South Africa needed Rassie more than we need a President. He knows South Africa to the core, and no other coach would have done what he has done for South Africa. We appreciate and love everything about you Rassie.

I’m English and I was moved to tears. As painful as it was to lose that final, you have to applaud what a wonderful team they are and I have always admired Rassie as a coach and as a person. As for Makazole Mapimpi, his story shows that anyone can come from anywhere, and do anything, and do it all with great class. I’m very pleased for him. I can’t think of anyone else who deserved to win the World Cup more than him.

Each and every Springbok in that 2019 team had a story : Siya Kolisi was born into poverty and his mother died when he was very young, Malcolm Marx 's mother raised him on her own, Duan Vermulan's father died of cancer when he was just eight years old, Makazola Mapimpi was born into poverty and most of ( maybe even all) of his family members are dead ( Some of them even murderd ) . In conclusion we South Africans live hard lives but we are made stronger for it.

I think in some ways the rawness of our rugby comes from the rawness of SA as a place. when people fight for something here, they put everything on the line. for better / and for worse. That said, NZ's great history of different cultures blending is a fascinating story and makes for beautiful watching on the field - im so we're staying in the rugby championship!

Rassie was in Ireland just under 3 years before he decided to take the job as coach of the Springboks. He was set to settle down with Munster and make his living there. It must take incredible courage to make the decision to leave what was going well for him and his family and take over what was possibly the most inconsistent SA team in modern rugby.

@@rugbyshorts and as South Africans we can definitely give credit to the systems there for helping our players and coaches get better, never minding the passionate fan base over there that gives the game so much. A Makazole Mapimpi movie and autobiography is much need to capture the greatness of this humble and sincere man who never gave up despite his poverty and pain of losing his mom, sister and brother. I think it was fitting that Kuanda(Rip) and Rassie used this moment to express who Makazole was as a player and individual and the hardship he faced to be where he is today. It was His God-given Destiny for him to overcome all his pain and challenges to score in this final . I have been following his career since 2016 and to see him score in the final was overwhelming. I'm glad this scene managed to show everyone the significance of him scoring in this finall and how he never gave up despite his circumstances. May his life teach us that it doesn't matter what our circumstances are ,if we work hard and believe in our destiny we will overcome eventually. In tears everytime I watch this...
