I think it’s a balanced side to go out - and again, agreed backing Manie is a stroke of genius - Manie owes the coach and he wl work his socks off to repay the coach for his loyalty and Rassie silently knows that
@Karma-qt4jiАй бұрын
Sorry boet but Manie owes the coach nothing. No, he did not kick the goal and if he had we would have won the game, but we are blaming him for not fixing the absolute poo show that was the first half. In 21 minutes, we let (with respect) the 7th ranked team in the world score as many tries as we let Ireland score in 2 games. That is the same number of tries as we conceded in the ENTIRE RWC knock out stage and the same number as we had conceded in every RC game this year before Saturday. Manie kicks one touch finder dead and missed a kick at goal and he is to blame? Rassie is covering his kicking issues in the same way as Rassie covers Pollard's playmaking issues by putting Willie on the field with him (mostly). See how we lost all backline attack when Willie left the field in the second Ireland game? See how the set piece move that resulted in Fassi's try at the weekend had Lukhanyo step in as receiver? Rassie does what he needs to for the good of the team, not because he is trying to be kind to a player.

Bok fans are a tough crowd to please and don't realise it is essential to do all the experimenting now in order to stand a chance for the next RWC and the rankings only come into play in Jan 2026 when the pools are decided otherwise before then it's meaningless. Why S Africans want to sacrifice a chance at winning RWCs to win every game in between is strange because Ireland proved this doesn't work. Boks are playing above average even while building and experimenting and if tweaked 1 or 2 things could easily have scored a few extra tries or even won by an easy goal kick which Libbok himself set up. We need to see the bigger picture and as Rassie said, lose 1 or 2 to get there.
@groenrizla2513Ай бұрын
@@Karma-qt4ji I think what the guy you replying to is alluding to is that Rassie understands the players as individuals and sees where they can fit into the squad so I don't think there's an argument here, just a different way of putting it but the thought behind it remains the same. Nothing new though as we saw how for example Am replaced Jesse when he was injured and everyone was anti Jesse then Am is out and Jesse is the best, then Am at 12 and we need DDA because Am can't do it etc Just think the amount of info the coaches are getting by experimenting and the profile they can make of each player, that seems to be Rassies focus, data collecting.

It's not about blaming Manie for the loss but for his own poor game. Not only did he miss the penalty, he also over-cooked the kick for touch, which ultimately cost SA the decisive penalty given to Argentina. How many more chances must he be given. He cost us the RWC game against Ireland and then had to be substituted early in the game against England. Rassie has known for at least a year that his kicking for posts is poor. It is evidently currently at 42% success. I get the distinct impression that Manie feels in his heart that he is not up to the level required. I would be embarrassed if I was him.

The result is that the players trust Rassie and will go to war for him.

Prevented maul after line-out for possible winning try ! Argies has to score 3 more tries than SA to earn a bonus point and win, for an addition 4 points, and deny SA a bonus point. Both teams then on 19 points but Argies win Championship. First countout rule, having beaten SA twise ! Quite a tall order ! Don't mention this to Rassie but if he includes a real life ex US Navy Seal instructor to his inner training team for not only physical and mental fitness but discipline as well. Would the Bokke pass a Seal Training course? Maybe!

@@insiderugbywithmark You said the missed kick at the end was ad lib bok's only (major) error. But in fact, he makes manie of them ;) Giving Ireland the wining edge in the WC match...etc etc. Only Rassie could ever convert him from a Dimitrov into a Federer - at the cost of how many games??
@insiderugbywithmarkАй бұрын
@zetristan4525 now is the time to be trying exactly those things. Dimitrov doesnt need to be a Federer, he merely needs to be the best version of himself and thats why we have seen the renaissance of Dimitrovs career because now he believes that and is not believing he is the next Federer.
@zetristan4525Ай бұрын
@@insiderugbywithmark At domestic level, or Bok intra-squad games. Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu is showing how it's done. Dimitrov won't win a Slam, but at least he's just beautiful in himself, not being the flaw in any team. What I do love about Rassie is that he's always backed players of colour when they may still have a chip on their shoulder due to people's prejudice. Rugby's a tough game: a mentally-weak mistake can undo your last 10 minutes of genius hotskillz, as the opposition grab hold through your weakest link 🏉 If Kurt-Lee loves sitting for ten minute breaks too much, there are more disciplined skilled wingers.

I am a South Africa rugby fan who is not aligned with all things said about Rassie. I think he was complacent at the match lost against Argentina. It was a match to win and not to make experiences. Now South Africa is in a more difficult position (no margin for errors), although I bet at a SA win.

I don't think Arendse is an ill disciplined player. He has had a couple of cards, as does Cheslin and Willie, which I think is the risk and reward of the rush defense. Arendses yellow vs Argentina was laughable at best, thinking back to Sam Canes hit on Siya which went unpunished (I am glad Sam wasn't carded as well). Sometimes those calls will happen in rugby and the team needs to look at how they deal with being a man down. I wouldn't look too hard into it, he just needs to work on tackling lower.

Agree with the statements, but the future of Bok rugby is bleak because the centers and props are getting too old for the next WC. Rassie must take young players on the end of year tour and forget about winning only. Build your team! Arendse gives away a card in about every 2nd game and that is not good. Then Rassie must admit that Moerat is not the future as a player or Captain for the Boks. The lost against the Pumas was his and Rassie's fault, sorry. He could not in one game handle the pressure as Captain, also something that was a problem with the Stormers in the URC this year.

@@tpkorea6c yeah Moerat is a total headscratcher his (poor) energy sunk the boks for me. Esterhuizen shoulda been included I think
@insiderugbywithmarkАй бұрын
@tpkorea6c its interesting to watch how all the top teams will deal with the transition out of old players and the introduction of new ones. France took a completely young team to Argentina this year and Galthie got a lot of answers to that. Joe Schmidt has a new Aussie team.
