I don't know why Rastar doesn't make any changes to improve its products!! Professional control, the ability to select speed using the controller trigger, turning the car's steering wheel at the user's discretion at the desired angle, higher car speed, and... all of this is a must for advanced products.
@BlackSeaRC
@BlackSeaRC 3 күн бұрын
I have just tested the new Aston Martin Valkyrie which has a new "2-speed" selector button. For me, it feels even slower than the older cars in both speeds. A totally unnecessary gimmick. Meanwhile, competitors are already offering fully proportional throttle and steering controls in this price range. Push button controls should be replaced as soon as possible. So everything you say is correct, Rastar needs to improve the driving experience of their products urgently as it feels as if they are outdated and falling behind.

What surprises me about these Rastar RC cars is that they are always priced around the same level, no matter the vehicle type or level of detail. This one for example has opening doors, lots of fine details on the body and interior, plus graphics on the body. That makes it much more interesting than a more basic model that often has the same cost.
@BlackSeaRC
@BlackSeaRC 10 ай бұрын
That is true. Cars such as the Bugatti Divo have lots of intricate details on the body that, for example, the Ferrari SF90 doesn't have. I have also seen some models with battery packs and USB charging included, priced at less than the equivalent model that uses 'AA' type batteries. This isn't logical at all. I must say that over the last few years, prices for Rastar products have fluctuated quite unpredictably and it is getting harder and harder to know when you are getting a good deal when buying.

Just be aware that the 1:24 scale version doesn't have opening doors and the windows are blacked out (no interior detail). It is quite a bit cheaper though and it is still a nice model. There are several new cars coming out this year after a quiet period due to Covid.

Glad to hear new cars are coming! I do have a number of 1/14 scale cars with interiors (pretty much all the hypercars that available pre-covid) but we like to race. 1/14 scale cars are too big to race in my garage that's why I collect 1/24 scale 😀. The 1/14's have gotten maybe three uses and then became shelf queens. We made a few videos of the 1/24's with more footage that needs to be compiled into something. In one of the comments below there was a comment about not liking the 1/16 scale. I didn't either but picked up one by chance because it was cheap, and 12 cars later..... (there is a video of those). How strange! As it is officially licensed, I see no issues with having the word "Porsche" there (although this is the only handset I have that uses the Rastar logo on the centre cap rather than the car brand logo or name). Also, we must both have early production examples of this model as I bought mine quite a few months ago as soon as the first shipments arrived from China. With regard to new releases, I see that Rastar seems to be producing several models in 1:16 scale. Not sure why this would be and I'm not especially a fan of that scale. However, there is a new Countach LPI 800-4 that I'm sure will be popular.

What do you think about the speed of my Porsche in the video? This is my first rechargeable battery pack car and to me, it doesn't feel as fast as the 'AA' battery versions. 4.8V versus 6V must have a small impact on acceleration and top speed.

@@BlackSeaRC That is part of why I find it so fascinating. I assume that at some point in production, someone must have noticed the missing windshield detail. I saw a few models that will be released in 1:16 scale, which is very disappointing, to say the least. I was really looking forward to the Sport Classic. I probably would have acquired the 296 GTS as well. I just hope this will not be a continued trend going forward.

@@AndWeRollin The scales have been getting ever more random over the last few years. At least 1:14 scale matched some of the heavy trucks produced by companies such as Tamiya. 1:16 is rather an odd in-between scale. Maybe it is a cost saving measure as none of the 1:16 models seem to have opening doors. I think that people who have a collection of cars would at least like all the models to be the same scale for display purposes.

Rastar RC cars use handsets with push button throttle and steering controls. Unfortunately, this means non-proportional control. You press and get full power so it is a very "stop/start" style of driving. The car can be difficult to control is small spaces or when driven by inexperienced operators. When searching, the key is to select something with "fully-proportional throttle and steering controls". This often means a "pistol grip" style RC handset with a throttle trigger and a wheel. The specific brands available will depend upon your location. Are you looking for a similar type of vehicle or would you consider other choices? If you would consider other styles of vehicles then WPL is a possible brand. Typically, "crawler" style vehicles are good for young drivers as they are easier to control, don't go too fast, turn nicely and can even be used outside on uneven ground. The WPL C74 is a nice example of this. Also, look at the MN Model MN82.

Typically, Rastar models come in large (1:14 scale) and small (1:24 scale) variants. This Porsche is available in both scales. The F1 cars come in 1:12 and 1:18 scale. The smaller versions (1:18, 1:24, etc) have a smaller battery compartment with space for 3x 'AA' batteries instead of 5x in the larger models. It depends upon the requirements. If you are looking for something suitable for indoor driving or for a beginner, then it is an inexpensive way to get into the RC hobby. Furthermore, the realism is so good that quite a few people buy these for the bodies and then enjoy the challenge of upgrading them with hobby grade electronics. Rastar products are designed with an emphasis on scale realism and were never intended to be high performance machines.

That's a good price. For people living in Europe, USA, India, etc the prices in China look very attractive. Unfortunately, shipping costs and import taxes almost always turn the total cost into something much less attractive. With products of this type, I try to buy locally because the suppliers usually order in bulk and can get favourable shipping rates, but for more expensive hobby-grade RC cars, I try to order direct from China to get a better price.

@@KhetheloMkhonza-eu1by That's a question that a lot of people want to know the answer to. Unfortunately, it is not a quick modification as it requires quite a few changes. Firstly, you would need a different motor. Then you should change the speed controller (electronic circuit board) and batteries. With these upgrades, you really need fully proportional control, so that requires an RC handset and receiver. I am about to undertake a Rastar upgrade project myself as so many people asked about it. I have bought all the components and I just have to select a model to modify. I purchased the most cost effective items as really it is not practical to spend a lot of money converting such an RC car. I have already reverse engineered a Rastar car to see what is under the body. See this link for details: kzbin.info/www/bejne/inKYhaaCd994mKc With my upgrade, I am hoping to increase the top speed from around 8-10kph to maybe 25-30kph.
