Raster Bitmap vs Vector Graphics

What are the differences between raster bitmaps and vector graphics? In this tutorial, I'll explain the differences and point out their strengths and weaknesses. Using Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop, I'll give the pros and cons of raster bitmaps vs vector graphics.
Raster graphics are made of pixels, and vector graphics are made of lines, shapes, and curves comprised of mathematical equations.
Raster graphics lose clarity as they scale, called pixelation. Vector graphics can scale to any size without losing clarity or quality.
Photographs are best left as raster images because they don't translate as well into vector art, unless cartoon-like effects are desired.

S Wright glad this was helpful. I would give you some advice on Storyline, but I've never used it. It should be easy if it accepts both raster and vector formats. If it doesn't accept vector graphics, try converting your vectors to high resolution png files.

Raster bitmaps images appears different when it is resized and use pixel. Rasters bitmap 0is also best are best for displaying pictures. Vector graphics are sharper in appearance reguardless of its size. Vectors graphics are more common with PDS, EPS and logos.

Cool. Bitmap graphics/image is a subset of raster graphics/image? Are all CRTs (even the very old ones), LCDs and OLEDs still displaying images lines by line, like CRT scanlining? Are modern fonts like those in macOS, vector graphics/images? Thank, you. God bless, Proverbs 31

I believe all raster images are bitmaps and vice versa. There are specific types of bitmaps, like jpg gif png, but I think the are all technically bitmaps since they are comprised of bits of information (pixels). I don't know exactly on scanlines. I've looked into that before, but it's been too long, and I don't remember. I think fonts are always vector in and of themselves. I can't think of one that isn't. I have thousands of them. If you use a raster program, that could change the clarity of the font. Does that help?

It depends on the artwork and style. You can use raster for book covers too as long as you make the art high enough dpi.

That depends on the printer. A vector image has no inherent dpi value, but when it's printed, it will come out at some dpi level. So a vector could be printed at only 150 dpi or at 600dpi. A 300 dpi raster file won't look any better if printed at 600dpi, but will look worse if printed below 300 dpi. Make sense?
