So lucky you noticed the swimming rats! And great impromptu trap design.

Thomas, again many thanks for the nice video. Hope your channel grows. I don’t understand why you have only 21,5 Thousand subscribers 🤷🏻♂️ You have one of the most interesting sailing channels on KZbin.

At first, I didn't hear what you said when you were walking to the ambulance, and it scared me. I was relieved it was only your immigration ride. Whew, what a check-in procedure for only 30 days. I think you will get more time. I know other sailors who have. I'm glad you got to sleep in your bed rat free. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for another great video! Such a cool rat trap, and how well it worked!😄 What did the authorities say about your alcohol? Would it be stored in a sealed area during the stay? And please Thomas, can you make a video where you explain everything about cyclones, what you look for, what is needed for them to develop into cyclones etc? 💕😀😄🇸🇪
@SailingwithThomas6 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for your kind words and for being here. Alcohol onboard has never been any problem, and so far satellite systems have also been okay. Some nations used to ban satellite communication, and might bee in the future stops. Regarding weather routing and cyclones for beginners is something I have been thinking about. Might come a mini series about this in the future. It’s very time consuming to make more theoretical videos with tons of illustrations etc. And right now I have almost to much on my plate as you will see in the next 4-6 episodes. All the best

Ask the guys on Follow the Boat about the VISA. They have been in Indonesia for years.
@SailingwithThomas6 ай бұрын
I did reach out to them a few times, but never responded. They might have the same challenge as I have not being able to handle the amount of requests and questions on all platforms. For me this is a serious challenge. I receive thousands of mails and messages every month. Mostly people wanting to sail. However I have found a solution and learned a lot. I’m planning on sharing this information here. All the best

I bought my 300 acre ranch in 2000.It’s 9 miles from the pacific, as the crow flies.I had a terrible time with rodents initially, clearing out brush and opening up land around structures was helpful.I adopted cats from the local animal shelter and gave them a home in my massive barn I built which was a highly successful idea.Im of Norwegian decent with last name Segelstad.Anyways, I had a good laugh in good jest when I had seen you had similar problems with them on a boat.They are really harmless only looking for food and warm but one can’t have them reside with you inside your castle lol.

The majority (I'd say 99%) of Indonesians, even in government jobs, are super nice people. Often the health/quarantine folks will be more than happy to see you because well, realistically speaking, westerners on boats visiting means money into the economy (even if you are spending like a local). Immigration... yeah, okay, that's a mixed bag. I know a bunch of immigration officers that are very nice, and very correct - but I have seen some absolute corrupted ones too. And some incompetent ones. But hey, any issues will pass I think. Welcome to Indonesia, now go find yourself some Nasi Goreng Setan :D

@@SailingwithThomas enjoying it, I miss the place :( Lived in/around Jakarta for 8 years :D Just remember that patience and calmness is a virtue. If you have a confrontation, don't yell, don't raise your voice, stay calm and out-patience the other party. Politely, of course ;) And of course, patience with any kind of government paperwork. It can take multiple days for simple things. And if you are planning to stay more than a few months, try to pick up some of the language, it will open many more doors :D

Why didn't you rest for the day when you first arrived before doing the check in BS? btw where's the rat infestation?
@SailingwithThomas6 ай бұрын
Because you have to start right away. Ignoring this will in most cases not only give you penalties and full search onboard. It will in some countries even qualify for prison. Best case scenario is you will be denied access and told to leave the country. Not reporting your arrival and start the process is often associated with human trafficking or drug smuggling. And you will be threatening accordingly until proven not guilty. All the best

👍. Without a partner in sailing, I do ask if you have every had a notion to employ a per-paid non professional sailing person , especially with correct character and checks. An opportunity to learn sailing hands on with a bloke of your experience.? Seems your adventures....night time lost ZZZZZ"s etc just might be away to assist Be Free Sailing Fund. ?
