They usually get trained dogs to find the dead rats so they dispose all of them in about 1-3 h depending on how many rats there are.

I do that hunting at my pig farm that I work at and I like to use 22lr spread shot manly because I need to reload fast and the rats are pretty close by. I typically use a bolt action 22 rifle or a 22 revolver because you can't use spread shot in a simi-auto.

Much as I appreciate the effort and skill, this has little or no impact on the population. Unless you kill over 90% population modelling would actually show the population reaching the standard pre shooting level (even increasing it for a short time) if the habitat and food stay the same.

@@theratbuster population growth is not linear. It reaches a limit due to food supply and disease. If that population there has reached the limit almost nothing would have happened. That being said, if you do stuff like this regularly, the constant predator pressure will for sure decrease the population.

@@theratbuster honestly, the same. It changes nothing except for short term result. This is just how the world works. You just can't kill them all nor doing this can put up a long term impact unless everyone in the world agrees to wipe out the existence of rats.

Imagine having rat infestation issue and opting out to not resolve the problem just because it's hard Yeah, issues like that should be resolved beforehand. Namely, you have buildings, warehouses and storage properly designed and secured so it's harder to access for a rat. Imagine any food processing facility giving up when facing pest problems. Those factories produce waste, which is used for pet food, for example. There's so many salmon heads and brown meat at my workplace yet didn't see single rat yet. Holy hell, they would close it down if we would have something like this running around. But yeah, if you have such large rat infestation, then shooting down what is currently running around is fast and short term. Proper maintenance and management should follow after that.

Great question mate the pellets travel straight through the rat causing massive internal damage which kills them more or less instantly that fast they don’t realise they have been shot until it is too late they all bleed out but with the video being in black and white you can’t see the blood
