Thanks Pat, I live very close to Rama IX/ Ratchada, and again you showed me lots of things I had no idea existed, despite living in the area for the last 16 years. Btw, if I'm not mistaken, Jodd Fairs is the smaller reincarnation of the Rot Fai Ratchada Night Market that used to be located behind the Esplanade Mall just down the street from Jodd Fairs. I heard the new The One Night Market will open soon where the Rot Fai/ Ratchada Night Market was, and dwarfs the Jodd Fairs market in size.

Thanks Pat, I enjoyed this video, as I do all of yours. It’s great to see a fella who has genuine knowledge and interest of Bangkok, a fella who creates original content instead of the countless muppets who regurgitate the same old crap. Between Jodd Fairs and the G-Tower there are a few levels of huge concrete slabs that take up the whole block, just behind that tin fence next to the small canal. This was meant to be an extension of Central Mall I think but development seemed to stop sometime in 2019 I think. There was also meant to be a huge 110+ floor building next to the Central car park. This building never even got started although they did do all the preliminary drilling and pilings a few years ago. Shame it never got built because it would have been a stunning building and one of the tallest in the world. When did you do this video? I was at Central on Monday afternoon. It's only 2 MRT stops from my condo in Huai Khwang.

It might be interesting to learn more about the Sutthisan area as it seems eclipsed by its more well known neighbours.
@neilrmartin19842 жыл бұрын
I developed a strange attachment to Sutthisan a few years back, in that I'd rented an apartment one MRT stop further out. When I took the bus home I would ask for Sutthisan because I couldn't pronounce the name of the stop I really wanted - at least in a way that was intelligible to the ticket seller. The more 'helpful' conductors would then ensure that I left the bus at Sutthisan ... From what I remember, there wasn't really a lot around there at that time. But it was certainly very affordable

Not sure in your intro I would call any part of Thailand that flamboyant….. value for money is the number 1 draw in Thailand. You don’t see many farang in malls , they love cheap cheap cheap and on mass , Thailand gov wants the big money cake , sorry with 10 years visa for rich and 80 people taken up offer this year says black and white , the rich go Singapore for Asia’s once Hong Kong but much less these days , poor south east Asia on avg that’s the way it is , that’s why son your videos get 10000 hits and smut gets 10 times as much ….. not rocket science son , the more you talk cheap Thailand the more subscribers you will get , hence the reason I don’t do videos myself, great information is not rewarded short skirts are …. Hence start of my comment. It goes round in circles Thailand is what it is . Good video

My company have offices here so I know the area well. Fortune Town is at the moment by far the best mall for electronics and more in bkk. Most shops have qualified staff and will help getting you what you need. Central mall is, well just another central mall. Now, Jodd Fairs... the herd is self reinforcing, and youtubers are no different. Except for the hype and window dressing it's average at best. Nothing that stands out here except that a lot of people have decided it's flavor of the month imho. You'll get exactly the same at a myriad of other new style local middle class modern evening markets scattered around bkk. Don't have to trek far and wide these days to sample alive pamuk or goong 😆

Cheers Tim, I thought the food was particularly good at Jodd Fairs, I'm not a market person myself but quality and choice was good. Bit rammed and not many places to sit. I've been once, and that's enough. I spent more time in the Central car park above getting shots later on. Name one YT channel that hasn't been. I wouldn't have done a video there if I wasn't doing this area. Central is it's usual self but Fortune Town is an Aladdin's Cave for video and audio gear for the vlogger.

These images brought back some nostalgia of my first years in Thailand. I used to live there near BigC Ratchadapisek. I now moved on and living in Koh Phangan.

Great to hear it brought back nostalgiic feelings for you. Where you are now a complete contrast of course.

@@BangkokPat Bangkok was the first and only big city where I lived. I much prefer nature but keep good memories of my time in Bangkok.

Another great upload, Pat- both informative and entertaining to watch in terms of cinematographic variety. Yeah, 20+ years ago did stay at the Maxx for proximity to RCA clubbing & kitchy 1970s decor to wake up to. 😵💫. ~~ in the category of seemed like a good idea at the time. 555 keep on keeping on. mahalos & aloha
