If I am not mistaken at the time Insomniac and Naughty Dog had their offices next to each other so I wouldn't be surprised if they gave some assets from Jak & Daxter to Insomniac to be able to start R&C, this footage really reminds me of Jak & Daxter. Just a theory, but plausable.

What I love about this is that Ratchet doesn’t have the stripes on his ears yet, as that was a pretty late addition after Sony Japan suggested it. You can tell at what point in development this takes place thanks to that.

Actually the model without stripes it's still used on that defunct point and click flash game with Ratchet and Clank on the couch, still crazy to me that they used the old design instead of the regular one

Lol wow! that's really early, you can see parts of the terrain that will later on be used on a different planet in the final game, this looks as if planet Batalia had a baby with planet Pokitaru.

they tuned back the foliage for release, Looks closer to Jak 1 then Ratchet 1 at this point.

I think Naughty Dog gave some assets to Insomniac, not sure, it does look like ita using the Jak engine.

Incredible piece of gaming archaeology, you know if they made it on Maya?? if you compare the one Traveller's Tales did for a prototype of Crash the Wrath of Cortex, the difference it's shocking, IG really knew what they wanted to do.

On a new engine with some of the tech used for GOAL, it was supposed to help with draw distance keeping certain details iirc.

Thhis game has so much potential and they trashed it after pretty much the first game. id die to continue the first game with all new super unique world designs weapons, armor, creatures, platimum weapon upgrades, and so many cool things.

You know, looking at clank's beta model in THIS video (and metropolis and the very first trailer of the game)... how come he has green eyes, but then switch to the blue eyes in some later prototypes... only to then go BACK to the green eyes in the final game? Why'd they change it to begin with if they're gonna go back to the green eyes appearance?
