Wait wait wait... So the NTSC version of this game is called Going Commando, yet the PAL version is called Locked and Loaded, obviously because of the sexual innuendos. But on the back of the NTSC version box, they used "@$$", yet the PAL version just straight up says ass. What?

Yeah I completely agree with you. However, the Meteor Gun (Lava Gun upgraded) is so freaking over powered when using it against the final boss.

DataStream Plus The gun is pretty powerful and broken if you use the lock on mod which in my opinion makes it much much better then the Lava gun.

I just replayed going commando after years, and i love the meteor gun. With the lock on mod its great and takes 3-5 shots to kill enemies late game which is awesome.

This is the definitive game of my childhood. Everything from the improved gameplay, amazing soundtracks, a MASSIVE selection of Weapons, new armour & ship upgrades being added, the cutscenes, the humour, the atmosphere, DAMN.

@AntDude the guy who did the soundtrack for the PS2 R&C games is called David Bergeaud. he's officially one of my favourite video game soundtrack creators, he has a pretty clever way of utilising ambient music (an often overlooked genre of music) and electronica in the R&C games. they stand out as good general songs as well as good game songs. my 3 favourites are the gemlik base , Tabora Mining Area, and Obani Gemini soundtrack. Obani Gemini being a good stargazing song

This is possibly my favorite game of all time, but it's a very close call between this and Up Your Arsenal. I think I really love both R&C2 and 3 equally. They each have their strong points. I just like Going Commando a bit more because of its difficulty (except for the final boss who was incredibly easy) and great gameplay. It also introduced a ton of things that would become essential for all R&C games to come. R&C3 just didn't introduce anything really new, even though it was still a great game. I also dislike how they sacrificed some game content in UYA for that shitty multiplayer mode that I couldn't care less about anyway. Let me put it like this: R&C1 started the whole thing off and R&C2 perfected it.

the soundtrack in this game is one of my favourites. the guy that made the soundtrack who rarely seems to get credit is called david bergeaud and from a production standpoint his stuff is pretty incredible especially when you reach the tabora mining area or go to the insomniac museum (both levels use the same track). ***incoming shameless plug*** i even tried to remix the track and here is how it turned out. OMG the nostalgia. I played this game so much as a kid. Its even one of the few games I have beaten (I was like 8 or 9 or something) as a kid. And I loved the Arena. There were two of them and I could beat the bosses of the first arena blindfolded because I knew the moveset of the bosses by hard. I beat the first Arena Boss over 500 times (It was my favourite game at one point). To bad I was too young to get the concept of NG+

I didn't like that there was a second zone to collect crystals. It was among other things that showed the game was getting repetitive. Largely because the enemies were numerous and tough so they ate up your ammo AND you had to go through them several times after unlocking the higher elevation and collect raritanium.

This is the best series in the trilogy, in my opinion. It takes everything from the first game and improves it, while not doing those combat zones with the bots that the third one had. Also, the music score in this is absolutely amazing!

You can also glitch into the room with the teleporter to the insomniac museum on the grind rail by a garage. The only downside is there are a lot of strong enemies in the room

Nice review! I have yet to continue on to Ratchet and Clank 2 and 3 on the HD trilogy. I would love to see a new Spyro game from Insomniac! Hell, I am still playing the first three games to this day. Bought the games on PSN EU now that they finally put it on. Had a fun time with the infamous level Tree Tops as well. It kind of seemed to be a lot harder back when I was younger. :P

Ratchet & Clank 2 was my first R&C game, though I played R&C 1 before that at a friend's house, thus I didn't think too much of 2 when I first played. I even thought R&C 3 was better later on, though last year I 100% the game, again (after doing it on PS2 version long time ago), and it has become my favorite. I see more flaws in 3 now and more goodness about 2. Going commando still keeps that adventure exploration feeling of 1, something 3 let's up on a lot for just Ratchet Gladiator style enemy waves coming at you.

I completed R&C 1 and 2 100% pretty recently. Now I'm playing R&C 3. Before I thought it was the best in the trilogy, now I sorta see the weakness with it. There is way too much emphasis on staying in same spot and doing a bunch of multiplayer-ish defend the base missions. I feel like this happens constantly in the game with way too little actual progression on different planets as to just the above. R&C 3 feels like the prologue to deadlocked/gladiator. R&C 3's best weapons are mostly just R&C 2 weapons ported over, like the heavy bouncer. R&C 2 is also the harder game and has arenas to fight mission based in same spot if you'd like, but it never overuses the concept and force you to stick in these places for more than 1-2 missions, unlike R&C 3. R&C 2 is just the better game if you prefer difficulty with lots of weapons mixed with the adventure feel of R&C 1.

totally agree. I feel like the third is too task based. Especially when you're fighting with the robots (forgot the name). I never got the same feeling of landing and feeling excited because I didn't know what lay ahead in the level.

I played the trilogy for my first time on the HD collection and loved it to death. I didn't find any flaws with it at all, probably because I didn't have the original to base off of, and that I think most of the graphical glitches (like the squished vendor guy in the first game) were exclusive to the European version. Besides that, trophy support is also a great incentive to get all of the skill points :)

You know I'm guessing the game pausing was a last minute decision. Why? Because on the Demo for this game (Which is an older build of the game) it did NOT pause when you were in the weapon select screen. It was hell to play the demo like this.

The story is the reason why i prefer UYA much more. The whole concept of protopet just doesn't seem engaging, sure you have missions and stuff, but the stakes are simply funny and when you're facing Nefarious each next level raises up the tension of threat and terror his madness spreads around the galaxy.

Hey man as amazing as this game is what are your second and third favorite ratchet and clank game. My three favorite are 1.a crack in time(which is actually my favorite game of all time ratchet and clank or not) 2.tools of destruction 3.up your arsenal.

I don't see the overpraise for the Bouncer. Sure, it's powerful, but the Ryno 2, Zodiac, Hoverbomb Gun and the Gravity Bomb are even more powerful. It also takes TOO damn long to reload, and a good weapon needs to have a decent reload time. I think the Plasma Coil is much better and effective. It's not as strong as the Bouncer, but it has probably 10 times more range than the Bouncer, plus, it doesn't take very long to reload every shot and it has 55 ammo! To top all that off, it's even MORE powerful in the 3rd game, making it literally OBLITERATE the Bouncer.

Adrian Solfjell The Hoverbomb gun and Gravity bomb are weaker than the bouncer, the Zodiac is inconvenient. Other than that I guess I prefer the Plasma and Rhyno, but the bouncer will still be implemented into the quick select where it belongs.

You cannot really blame idol minds for those HD glitches. These games have so much hacky stuff in their coding and even files were purposely put in specific spot on disc to make loading faster... And since in HD collection all games are in same disc that's probably what's messing loading.

+Robert Aguilar If you have the PS3 remasters, there is literally zero reason to get the PS2 versions. Theyre rarer, worse graphics, and with some more bugs. The ps3 remasters, besides some small visual bugs, are superior in every way.

Other than that, you have numerous graphical glitches in the cutscenes, audio glitches, and even framrate drops that never happened in the original versions. And don't even get me started on Deadlocked hd.

That's a physhical version issue what you talked about, the vita however and digital work perfectly how you remember or play them. The vita port is some of the BEST ports I have seen.

I think Going Commando has aged well, i love that the strafe button added to make fighting enemies & bosses, the weapons are able to level up, nanotech increases, the arena is pretty fun not as fun as it is in Up Your Arsenal but though there are things I'm glad up your arsenal fixed one is the difficulty spike in the later half of the game where the enemies are tough they can take chunks of your health in one hit not to mention the bolt grinding is ridicules because the weapons i have to buy are expensive especially the armor because facing enemies in the later half of the game with armor you got at the beginning of the game is pure suicide I'm glad Up Your Arsenal fixed all these problems the only thing i like more in Going Commando than Up Your Arsenal is the insomniac museum.

i have only played r&c 1 on the ps 2 last year, and i thought the game looked sick, amazing on the ps 2. now i bought the trilogy on ps3 and wanna replay i:D i expect the whole series aged well, because the graphics are clean and the framerate is sharp
