As somebody who also bought the Zelda & Loftwing Amiibo... Yeah it was pretty pointless. I think I only used it once in my entire playthrough, and that was to immediately go get and fully upgrade a quiver after getting the bow on the sandship. As for just collecting the figures themselves... Only interesting story I have was when I went to my local Target around the time that the DLC for Breath of the Wild was announced, decided to check their games section, took a look at what Amiibo they had, and while everything else was sold out, they had a single Guardian Amiibo on the shelf for $20. Scooped that figure up in a heartbeat and used it heavily to get cores before I got good at parrying the lasers.

I'm still upset that they gave Fire Emblem Echoes amiibo, but not Three Houses (no, Byleth in Smash doesn't count). I just wanted my boy Dimitri to have one (Edelgard and Claude too).

The conundrum I have is which characters they choose in specific series. For example, Fire Emblem. A bunch are from smash, but the made an Alm and Celica on release for Shadows of Valencia, but only Byleth for 3 houses cause of smash. But no other characters or anything for Enngage. I still remember that there was a glitch in Smash for Wii U were I think after you disconect your controller and then scan an Amiibo you can control multiple players at once and with that in 8 player smash it was really crazy stuff when you start playing as 8 players at once

no wait i wanted a whole segment about the amiibo in splatoon i have a ton to say about the amiibo specifically in splatoon i do like that since 2 you can save gear to them and in 4 a whole wardrobe (especially useful for me who likes to play as my many different OCs) on top of unlocking exclusive gear but man. it's a downgrade compared to splatoon 1 in splat1 each amiibo let you access special challenge levels from the hero mode where you got to try out a different weapon that the usual splattershot, and then unlock that weapon on top of the exclusive gear AND a minigame for the arcade (RIP). but the real thing I miss was that the Callie and Marie amiibo actually turned the whole plaza as it looks during a splatfest. Something that can't even happen anymore! They didn't bring at least that back for the Pearl and Marina amiibo in Splat2 and I don't see them update that anytime soon in Splat3 (especially with the different hubs, tho it'd be cool if it worked if you were in that idol's respective hub) but if we ever get a splat4 that's the one thing i wish they bring back. (and also the arcade bcs i miss squid jump)

I really wish that they had made an actual Amiibo-dedicated game. Either an action-platformer, or a turn-based RPG, or an action-RPG. I’d be happy with any of those options. It just would be cool to have a game where you can play as any Amiibo you got.

Are you sure Amiibo isn’t done? Have they released any new ones besides the last few Smash DLC characters in a recent time?

I remember driving 45 minutes in a snow storm to get a Rosalina from a target when it released. Said snow storm made me have to wait til the 2nd day it was out, and that was the only target with them still in stock.

I still remember going to the midnight launch of Smash Wii U and getting the Wii Fit Trainer amiibo simply because I was really good with them in Smash 3DS when I played against my friend. I had no idea how rare that little thing was gonna be. As for my thoughts on amiibo themselves, I used to be really into collecting them, but once I started seeing the in game support for them was very limited I just stopped caring. I always feel alone for this, but I liked when amiibo gave you something cool and unique even if it did feel like on disc/cartridge DLC. Like my absolute favorite use for amiibo was Fire Emblem Fates where you got really powerful units, but you had to beat them in battle first. The Fire Emblem games after that lessening the use to just like single turn ghosts or random items felt so dumb. As bad as Mario Tennis Ultra Smash is, being able to do the training thing with amiibo like in Smash and being able to take them online (something you couldn't do in Smash 4 or Ultimate) was also really neat.

yeah, the Sweet Spot should have been having the big unlocks like Challenge Modes & Costumes, but actually have in-game conditions to get them, just Time consuming, or specific enough the Amiibo is just a nice convenience like getting the Praise the Sun or Kirby Abilities whenever

tbh, I think people wanted too much out of amiibo. They should have been branded from the start as figures first with the in game rewards being a fun bonus only. that's how I viewed them and I love them.
