yep, I also have this conclusion after finding one common chest in two different areas back in Mondstadt being the one gives nothing but sigils and basic mats while the other one gives primogems afaik, on the first launch of Mond and Liyue, common chests does not give primos only until the release of Inazuma

​@@BadassHatdog not quite , until Inazuma chests gave a random amount amount of primos whithin a certain range , with the ranges being determined by the chests rarity ( common chests was between 0 and 2 primos ) , after Inazuma chests always gave the maximum amount of primos they could have

@@Sinovian yeah the only new chests in "old" areas in the 3.x patches are chests in areas that were just added to the game that are technically in old areas, like the handful of new liyue chests on the border between liyue and sumeru, or the 5 or so new chests that count towards the 3.1 desert area that were added in the 3.4 patch and are found in the underground areas from the quest for the new 3.4 desert.

@@anyanP Haha, yea it happens, but if you saved for 3 pities, you actually get both the weapon you want. 1st lose, standard weapon banner. 2nd lose, you get your second option weapon 3rd will be guaranteed due to epitomized path. It happened to me once, I got 3 different weapons in one banner which has served three of my different units. It's a worst case scenario but still a calculated risk.

The reason people consider the weapon banner a scam is because there are 2 weapons on it, and since you're usually only interested in one, the odds are always against you, and unlike the character banner where you'd get it guaranteed next, here there is no such safety net. And epitomized path barely helps at all, it resets at the end of every banner, so unless you're ready and able to spend up to 200 wishes on the same weapon banner, you still aren't guaranteed to get what you want, and very few players other than whales would ever consider dropping that much on a weapon banner even if they could afford it In contrast, Hoyo finally fixed the weapon banner in Star Rail instead, by only putting one weapon on it and making it a 75% chance to get instead of 50% as well. Now that is good value if you want it

​@@Sinovian Oh have you heard of the curse of broken Liyue/Mond chest counts? Due to Mihoyo changing which chests counts to which locations during v1.0-v1.3, your max chest count can change depending when you collected some specific chests. In other words, I as a day 1 player will never know if I ever collected all the Liyue chests! Yay!! (dies). In fact there are some chests which counts towards neither region, in the middle of Liyue. Not sure if that's still the case.

You look at your Achievements for how many of X you have for an area then compare to the max number of that, say Seelie, in an area and you'll know if you got all of that.

Weapon banner is definitely a trap for new players. Getting a new character is definitely better than a 20% damage increase on a character that doesn't even have leveled Talents or artefacts. Plus the player probably doesn't have enough weapon exp to level it anyways as it is purely time gated and not even resin gated. And getting a weapon doesn't feel fresh, it's a stat stick while a new character gives new team building options, opens new playstiles and gives a bit stuff (passive talents can help with farming and exploring, 3 wishes for levelling on the standard banner, interactions in the tea pot, friendship exp). Its not a lot, but more than the small damage buff. But yes, if you have reached endgame and build 2-3 teams and the weapon banner offers ok 4 stars as well as 2 viable 5 stars... go for it!

Though worth noting that, even if you've reached the end game, there's a high chance you are clearing the hardest content already, meaning that extra damage doesn't change much. Overall, I think my favorite five star weapons are the ones that benefit a few of my four stars. Like Veracity on Ning, or Redhorn on Noelle or Xinyan. These five star weapons make those characters feel much better, and consequently, I use them more, meaning they are weapons that essentially give me a new character. And overall, I think that is the best reason to get the weapons: to gain the freedom to play a character you want to play, when you want to play them. And note this can apply to uber five stars as well, just more indirectly. Making your Yelan even more powerful means she can carry even weaker teams. Likewise, a super strong team on one side of the Abyss means you can play a weaker one on the other.

I think the weapon banner does end up giving more of a bad experience than a good one a lot of the time. I personally think it’s better to try and get a good four star weapon that works on your characters than going for a limited edition 5 star weapon every time. Ofc you can say that a person would be reasonable with that and yes they would. But my issue with the weapon banner (both before and after the epitomised path system) is that you’d either spend however many wishes to get the weapon (the tectone incident prior to the epitomised path system) or 240 fates. Both are a lot, sure the epitomised path does help majorly but 240 is still massive for someone like a f2p or a low spender just to get that guarantee and since it was introduced I’d rather have it work like the character banner than have it rigged against low spending or f2p players from the beginning.

I only started pulling on the weapon banner when I ran out of weapons for my characters. I stopped pulling for characters (except for 4* copies on the standard banner) for several months until I could bridge the gap. Hard times.

The biggest reason why i used to think chest respawned was because in the first year of genshin a lot of my friends started out after me and i helped them with exploration. And im pretty sure i helped them pick up chests in their worlds which i hadn't gotten myself yet. Making me think when i would visit those places in my world with a chest still there that they had respawned 😅

I know FOR SURE that they go back and add chests to older areas, and not only when there's a new region that connects to that area (ex: Liyue when Sumeru came out). I searched through Dragonspine and finished all its world quests, and I remember that there was no chest at 2:10. But then a patch later, I went through there again because there was a commission nearby and I saw a chest there. My friend also experienced the same thing in the same place. There was also another instance in Mondstadt in Dadua Gorge, in one of the tribes, that there was a precious chest that they placed there, but wasn't there when the game first launched.

I was not of the impression that 'the weapon banner is a scam' meant a Homa was worth less than another 5 star blorbo, I was under the impression that it meant yeah a homa'd be great but you Will Not Get A Homa you will spend 200+ wishes because it always always always goes to epitomized path and you will always always wind up spending more than you'd like Edit: modified the math. Even with max pull of 80 three times (statistically near impossible), you’d be at 240 wishes. Max pity on the weapon banner is 80 not 100. If you have about 200+ wishes/pity or want both featured weapons, it’s a pretty safe bet hence the misconception.

First of all, soft pity starts at 74 included, and increases by 6% each pull (Base% * 10) So 73: 0.6% 74: 6.6% 75: 12.6% and so on, until it eventually overcaps at 90ith wish (102,6%) hence the "guarantee" Second of all, 35% of the time, you will get an early 5*, meaning somewhere in between 1-73 pulls. So the technical median for your early 5* is 36.5 pulls While the median for your pity 5* is 76,7 pulls, which will happen 65% of the time. And when you multiply the odds of getting a 5* with their respective mean values, 76,7*65% + 36,5*35% = 1 in 62,6 That consolidated probability estimate almost perfectly matches Hoyo's 1.600% overall chance to get a 5* including pity system. (1 in 62,5) So yes, the actual amount of pulls to get a 5* is exactly 62,6 pulls. Yes, it's very easy to be under, or over 62,6, as you may just get rect by yout off pity 5*, but with enough sample size, it will always lean closer and closer to 62,5. Me(65,7) and a bunch of my friends, even the most unlucky ones, we all have our overall pity under 68. And our sample size is not exactly that small, reaching at least 27 event 5* pulls for every single one of us. This is also better explained in Vidmilo video about pity system. So yeah, rounding up 62,6*3 you get 188. That is the median to get 3 5* characters. Which proves that i was right.

Just did the “Through the Mists” world quest, plenty of respawning Remarkable blueprint/primogem chests if you clear the island with every new quest. Necessary if you take the Serenitea Pot seriously.

The chests actually aren't respawning. Tsurumi Island itself is an RNG landscape. That is, enemies will appear in different locations on different days (there is a lawachurl I hunt daily that spawns in three different locations, dependent on the day), as do all the chests, so if you want to clear everything you need to sweep the island on multiple days.

They don't respawn, they just spawn after you complete certain parts of the quest. Some chests spawn close or in the same spot, meaning in order to get them, you have to collect the other one first. Then the next day the other one will spawn. It will technically be a different chest.

Tsurumi is a special case, as different chests/enemies will spawn depending on what part of its main quest you are, and after completing it, Tsurumi will go to a three day cycle of chests/enemies spawning and despawning

You can get more AR mora for new quests added into the game too. Not to mention all the events every month. You get more than just daily commissions and domain farming. Lets not forget spenders can refresh resin for more mora from the xp conversion.

Updates can bring new chests or reset a bugged chest which sometimes can pop up in a location you farmed before. I opened a chest 3x in the same spot once. I only remembered it because it was in a highly recognizable location. That said there use to be an infinite chest glitch near the petra set domain people would bug Klee into. This got patched out though.

I just started this game 3 months ago, and now I am doing the 'real' 100% following the interactive map. I was surprised how much stuff you can still find after it showing 100%. No respawn chest give me a sense of accomplishment as the area is totally clean.

I need to talk about my experience with the weapon banner I got Shenhe and Ayaka on the 2.4 and 2.6 banners respectively as an f2p player. So, naturally, since i i skipped the Cyno/Dehya banner and started saving up in the middle of the Yelan banner (as a welkin/bp player), i thought that the second phase weapon banner of 3.5 was a good one. To be honest, i was lucky with the charting since i charted for Mistsplitter and got CQ and Amos (i also have Ganyu but i already had Amos so it's just R2 now lol) Anyway, my charting was lucky and i ended up getting both of the featured weapons (definitely didnt spend the entire second half of the patch grinding primos) It was worth it though

I usually tell people not to pull in the weapon banner till ar 55, cause before then, 5* weapons aren't that necessary. You want to have a few stable well-geared teams before you start dumping all your primos into the weapon banner

About the chest respawn, I could be wrong, but when you first arrive to Tsurumi Island because of the quest (Ruu's Story) , the chests were normal. But then when you came back for the second time(?), All the chests you got will turn into remarkable chests, but once you get them, it won't respawn.

another reason respawning chests could have become a rumor is because certain commisions would override chests in an area, i know for the longest time i kept getting a commision in dragonspine that made it impossible to get the chest their and id always tell myself to get it the next day but then id forget again till the commision pop'd up and id be reminded but unable to get it XD. its not every commision that will do this, i think only if its 2 combat type scenario's overlapping since the monsters cant both exist at the same time. I started in 2.3 and saw loads and loads of videos talking about respawning chests so I fell for that one, for at least the first few weeks lol. There was another bit of misinformation circulating at some point about waiting until a certain AR to open chests because the rewards scale with adventure rank lol. I'm a low spender and I've never been swimming in resources, I religiously do my expeditions, reputation and crystal farming. Hell for a majority of my Genshin career I've been doing elite farming routes for the mora and artifacts. Still always one new character/weapon away from being bankrupt on mora, xp books, enhancement ore and primogems. I don't know how people do it. Maybe they go months on end without building anyone? To me that seems boring af. The weapon banner is definitely a good idea nowadays, as long as your account has hit a tipping point with characters where it's well rounded enough to tackle any possible iteration of the abyss. Going for weapon banners with 2 great weapons on them is the next logical thing (and being happy with what you get). Rolling on weapon banners where one is a complete turd is something I will never do again. I learned my lesson on the mistsplitter/calamity queller banner where I got shafted. Had to roll a Shenhe after just to justify that stinker of a pull.

I guess the reason, or at least part of it, that the one about the weapon banner is still so prevalent even with epitomized path is bc that still does absolutely nothing for f2p and low spender players. It resets every time a new banner starts, so in order to actually hit that guarantee, you'd have to burn through potentially up to _240 pulls_ all on a _single banner_ ((although i will admit this does assume worst luck possible, which is unlikely)). Of course, ive never actually pulled for a 5* weapon myself, so i cant say from any actual experience whether or not it's worth it-- just kinda my thoughts on why many people, including myself, kinda feel like it's not: the hard max for a character is 180, and those can be spread out across banners, so like i can go into a banner knowing that if i lose the 50/50, i get the option to decide i'd rather save my guarantee for someone else down the line. That option does not exist with the weapon banner.

It would give you something extra to do once you finished your daily commissions and resin grind. TL;DR I wouldn't mind us having something more to waste time on once we finish our daily chores.

At this point, having been AR60 for a long time now, the income of resources far outweighs the costs. Veterans probably have their teams and weapons set. And MHY is not really tempting them to invest into new things with so little combat challenge in the game or need to diversify. I understand investing not just in terms of pure resin but primarily as resin that could have been invested in artifacts--the real endgame grind. For example, why would I ever invest in these event-exclusive weapons when fav is almost always better? Who in god's name has a use for a character like Kaveh, except the simps? That all just precious resin I could have used for artifacts.

I love using all my characters. What’s the point of having them if I can’t play them ? They are not all designed for the abyss though. Dori is one of the best coop domain healers, Sayu is great for exploration, etc.

The chest thing: well I was under the assumption that they did not respawn and that at the AR lock for some was a myth. Until about a month ago when I found a chest out in the open in an area of Monstat where I get the same reoccurring daily commission and had already opened a chest back at the beginning of the game. There is no way I missed it, so I assumed it was either an AR locked chest, one that had to be triggered by doing that same commission so many times, or one of these fabled "added with newest update" chests

It's probably one of those chests that phase out when a quest (daily or otherwise) is active on the area. So you can't see it until you go there again after the quest is gone.

Its not just content creator or news headline that start the chest spawn thing Its the day one players and its not really our fault too, Back in the day genshin do spawn chest back after certain of AR level but they wont give primogem The chest that spawn on top of favonius knight HQ spawn 2 times and give 10 primo first then 2nd give only 5 primo

Weapon banner can be predictable and manipulated a bit if you understand how exactly it works, so sneaky snitching that Stuff of Homa with ease is possible, though you'd need to keep in mind many variables, heh.

i think the reason people say whales have more resources is because they can afford to spend primos on daily resin refreshes and packages with fragile resin so you can get roughly speaking 2 times the resin which is huge

About your last point, yeah, it really depends what you want. New character = new gameplay, new teams to try, more options. Weapons and constellations = vertical progression

Oh, I remember the chests respawning myth...everyone just wanted the one in Northland Bank to respawn. The myth was born from updates with chests appearing in locations where players were sure they had gotten them. I recall precious chest in Dadaupa Gorge being there after I completed the world quest for that area and a few updates later. It confused me, as I was sure I got it before. As for mora and ore, it doesn't take much to accumulate it if you don't use it often. I have close to 5,000 crystal ore because I don't upgrade weapons often. Resources build up if you don't use them. That person who acquired that large sum of mora probably wasn't upgrading anything and probably selling artifacts through the destroy option. If one would farm artifacts in the overworld, they could get quite a bit of extra mora, I think it's like 100k per 100 3 star artifacts? 100k each day for a year is like 36.5 million mora. Still nowhere close to the total needed. I also didn't pull my first 5 star weapon until nearly a year into the game (I just didn't lose my 50/50 on the standard banner until then) and only upgrade 5 star artifacts. I always tell new players to avoid the weapon banner until they have the units they want. Characters go a long way, and more often than not, decent weapons can be found without wishing through exploration and crafting, as well as through wishing on the character banner. Sacrificial Sword is still one of the best weapons in the game, despite being a 4 star weapon and found on any banner. I've been playing since day 2 and still use some 3 star weapons. Yes, 5 star weapons are fine, but sometimes it is hard to figure out who to put them on. Imagine getting a Staff of Homa, but not having Hu Tao, or worse, not having a polearm user at all. I've had friends pull for polearms without having a polearm user in their roster. When they finally do get one, they don't use them.

Regarding the chest in Dadaupa Gorge, I don't know if you mean the same, but that was definitely the closest case to what we can call chest respawn. It was a chest on top of a hilichurl tower with some rugs placed around it and I am 100% certain I collected it long ago before even Inazuma was released, then sometime this year someone pointed out it is there again and low and behold, I had it there too. Now I have number of chests collected in Mondstadt one higher than what sources say is possible. I assume devs felt like they need to tweak something on it so they removed the old one and placed a new one at the same place, perhaps with slightly different conditions to appear? In any case anyone who had it already collected by that time got one extra.

In Tsurumi Island each time I went was the same chest! that was like 3 times and was sooo confusing, I was sure already take it. Mora is a really big problem Q.Q I want increase my Kirara but no mora :,D and I'm working on Faruzan. The weapon banner scam. . . well, is your horrible luck to blame :,D but you never pull there unless you are ok at lose or you have all to get the pity 3 times :,D

Another thing on weapon banners: Those who save for a character guarantee tend to save for 200+ wishes, and that’s as much as the number of wishes to max out fate points for a weapon guarantee.

I think you're going to organically get to a point where weapons and cons are good value, but for low AR and players with few 5* characters, it is better to prioritize new characters until you have a good variety of teams. Still, as a low spender on main, I'm picky and always set two conditions to pull on weapon banner: 1. no upcoming character banners I'm super interested about, or I'm fine getting in a rerun 2. BOTH weapon are actually good and useful for my account so even though I was dying to get a mistsplitter, for example, I've skipped its banners every time, as it tends to get paired with trash or weapons I don't need. Banners like homa+aqua or staff of scarlet sands+elegy are ones I willingly threw my wishes at, because even losing my 50/50 was solid. I would pull for the current banner too as a Yoimiya and Yae haver but I'd rather try for c2 Kazuha THAT SAID, weapon banner CAN be devastating and kind of a scam for an endgame f2p if you're unlucky. I've never gotten what I wanted in my secondary f2p American account. I've lost to standard weapons twice in banners where the two featured were amazing upgrades, and tragically to weapons I already had from standard banner! With the guaranteed in between I took a risk and got the wrong weapon for which I don't even have or want the signature character. At least key of deez-nuts is getting better with all these new HP-scaling sword 4* characters and I'm praying it's popping on someone from Fontaine /copium. Anyway, I'm saving this guaranteed like gold for one of those epic cracked banners

It is better to build a top tier nahida hyperbloom or nilou team than building hu tao now. The other team is some good variant of national loke rational or international.

i'd rather have 100 on the whole map that respawn weekly in roughly the same area rather than 10'000 unique that don't pop up on the mini map an the compass can barely give a clue on where it is.

While the rumor about chests respawning is definitely not true, new chests getting added after leveling AR and sometimes after some events does seem more plausible. But not necessarily confirmed.

One thing to add to the weapon banner discussion: While a weapon can be beneficial for an account, the game you will be playing, will feel very similar. A new character on the other hand, even if it falls in the same category (Diluc, Hu Tao, Yoimiya), still feels different to play. So in my eyes, the whole "weapon banner is scam" is referring to the lack of gameplay transformation. (Also protects against FOMO, when you are always very limited on Primos.)

the weapon banner was a scam before the path was added, it had no garantee for the weapon you want . now its less of a scam , still harder to get especialy for F2P (its like trying to get a certain 4* from a banner but their pity was 80 instead of 10) but i agree that some weapons worth going for when you re at the "end game" because even if you dont get it , atleast there is a small upgrade towards 36 stars

Actually one of the reasons peope thought chests legit respawned was due to the fact that when it's raining some chests wi be impossible to spawn but when you come back and no more rain the chest wil be avaiabble to open. so peope who were 100% sure they cleared an area woud come back one day to find a chest "randomly".

I agree that respawning chests are a myth, and propose my perception of the mechanic that's giving us this misconception: Every overworld chest is tied to an AR level, even AR 0. Some chests are copy-pastes of chests from earlier AR levels. Since no two AR level generated chests can occupy the same immediate mechanical event area, a player exploring an area for the first time at, for example AR 45, they can expect to receive the illusion after returning a couple of times that apparently these chests are respawning after some time or distance trigger. Not so. They're just collecting the earlier AR level chests and "catching up" on the map progress.

Weapon banner isnt a scam because weapons are bad, weapon banner is a scam because you have to lose twice before you can guarantee the weapon you want *And it needs to be on the same patch*. And then imagine you dont have the primary guarantee from losing the previous 50/50. You have to win a 50/50 and then you have to win ANOTHER 50/50

I have been extremely lucky with the fact that every 5 star i have (and use, fuck you c4 diluc), i have their 5 star weapons Amos for ganyu, though I am considering aqua or hp when i get the chance TP for yoimiya Floating dreams for Nahida To be honest, i didnt even have yoimiya or nahida when i got both of those weapons they were a ten pull apart and i wanted the widsith but such is life and EL for raiden shogun i have zhongli, but i use fav lance and i love it i'm saving for venti, and i'm debating on if i want to get his bow or not simply because of how versatile it is I recognize the faults of the weapon banner, but to me, getting new weapons is so much more fulfilling where i am in genshin than new characters. i hope i can continue to get lucky and get the weapons for my characters. the only five stars i really want as of now are venti and kokomi (though mona works too, i want a ganyu freeze). honestly my accounts materials are very sad but it feels like a chore to play so i do my dailies and do blizzard strayer and get off. I just want to consistently 36 the abyss. I haven't done that since ASIMON first came out.

Nah, the weapon banner will always be a scam. I'd sooner have every character than invest in a weapon for my Hu Tao only to get bored of her and play someone else. Having more variety in your character options will always be better.

I think people conflate "weapon banner is generally a scam" with "weapon banner is always a scam." cuz imo, with the advent of double banners, it's now far more likely that people will have two weapons on a banner they can use, especially if they've been playing for long enough. like, if you have both nilou and nahida, and you want key for nilou, than losing two Nahida's signature wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. weapon banner definitely isn't necessary, but it can situationally be good and it's not like you're going to ruin your account if you throw some wishes towards it
