Ohhh I've been going to the Perfect Chinese restaurant for years I'm glad it was mentioned in the video. I was a little disappointed when I didn't get to see you actually eat the food, describe the details and review it like Buzzfeed style. Good first impressions as this is the first video I've watched from you guys so keep it up!

Happy to see other Toronto-ians posting about their favorite food spots. I prefer the 2 spots in First Markham Place and the food court on Silverstar Blvd for BBQ meat on rice

have you tried HOHO BBQ located in Midland? There's a good $6 meal deal there where my dad goes to. I happen to live in Scarborough and should drop by at Alton Towers plaza. There's some good eats there. If you like Vietnamese Pho, there is a restaurant called Jasmine Garden you should check out.

Wow talk about trip down memory lane! Love Alton Towers plaza, we still frequent quite a bit. Adding Jasmine Garden and HOHO BBQ to the list! So many good eats in Midland area

@noshivore yup, I actually live around Alton Towers at one of those apartments, too. Sadly, one of the restaurants went and closed down recently called MyKitchen, which is my favorite. They serve the best congee there 😞

Perfect also is very nostalgic for me. Been going there for many years. I’ve been debating trying out Nonna Lia but the prices do seem crazy for what you’re getting. Recommend checking out these 4: Sumilicious in Scarborough - very similar to Shwartz’s from Montreal. Owner used to work for them. Bao Mama in Scarborough - they have $5 daily specials. I tried the chicken adobo bao and it was great. Los Chicos Markham - very yummy Peruvian chicken Scotty Bons Caribbean Grill - several locations. New one recently opened in Markham. Jerk chicken wings are great. I tried them for the first time on the weekend. I just got 2 more pounds of wings today and also tried the jerk chicken bowl.

For Tiramisu you have to go to Remezzo at Warden & Sheppard. They do not take online orders of it, you have to go in person. You can however order the rest of the menu online 😂

I second this idea. Why stop there though? I think we have a lot of Asian cuisines represented in Markham/Scarborough. Sri Lankan one time, then Persian, then Vietnamese...

There are so many HK bbq joints that dot Scarborough and Markham, it's hard to narrow down who has it right. I like Earles Court & Mike's, which is right next to Perfect Chinese, btw. But the best duck I found is...well, I can't remember thr name...but its in the Silverstar plaza food court.

Thanks for sharing! Yeah, totally there are tons of good spots... and we've had a bunch of them (sometimes it's hard to remember the exact name of them too, esp when they are in food courts lol). BUT, we must say that Kum Hong is absolutely so legit. We've tried spots across Canada too such as super highly rated ones in Richmond, BC as well. To be honest, we still think Kum Hong (in Richmond Hill) is the best overall plate because each of the meats is really well done. We hope you give them a shot sometime!!

@noshivore If I ever go out to Richmond Hill (which is very rare), I just might. But my standards are quite high on this subject. My grandparents lived in downtown Chinatown, and I grew up with what was dubbed "the best Chinese BBQ pork in North America" by I believe Toronto Life way back in the early 90s. Ask any old school Chinese "who had the best char siu" and 7/10 will at the very least mention this restaurant... Kom Jug Yuen. Their char siu was the best (and I still haven't found a place that can rival them, yet), their roast pork was really good too, as was their duck and soy chicken. Moving out to Scarborough and having tried a lot of spots, including supermarket offerings, Kom Jug Yuen is still hard to beat.

Insane - thanks for sharing that story. Love hearing about the history and how people "feel" with some of the foods out there, esp if it's been passed through word of mouth from generation to generation. Part of it is personal pref, but we still hold strong to Kum Hong being very legit. We've tried stuff across Asia, North America, Europe too. This one at least deserves to be in our Mt. Rushmore of HK Style BBQ ;)

Kam being bbq: Did u not see they soak their hand into that big puddle of bbq pork???? Same happened 5 years ago i noticed since then I never go back😢 I understand they always touch the meat, but like soaking the whole hand into that reservoir of bbq pork….?😂

@@niegannie get a 3 meat on rice plate! Costs about 18$ and can easily share between 2 people. Usually I choose: 1) the roast pork 2) the char siu (glazed bbq pork) 3) duck And make sure they give you the ginger scallion oil on the side! :) Happy noshing

Markham/upper Scarb = Chinese BBQ/siumei and raccoon infestation My mom is from northern China and doesn't know or understand chicken feet in that style no matter how much I explain it to her. She just think Cantonese chicken feet is supposed to be the disgusting wine brine style with no coating

Dang, well it's funny bc even amongst our friends they don't get it either... but that's not going to stop us! It's got such unique texture and it's something we consider "fun" to eat... where you inhale a chicken foot and then spit out the bones! :)
