Just finished reading it a few days ago. Honestly it’s a good arc but has a really slow introduction in my opinion, everything prior to enel showing up was a bit mid so I can understand why some people don’t like it but it’s definitely not a bad arc (especially in comparison to the foxy arc).

@@Hanaronxd lol. that makes me wonder why you watching one piece afterall. l agree in some sort that marineford is quite way too long and this cut the joy of it. but sabaody is pure gold in so many points, it shows how one piece world is built, introduce the idea of the celestial dragons and show their dirt, show the enslavary system, how marine work for it all. introduce all supernovas (kid, law, bonney, hawkins, uruge, drake, capone, etc), who are major relevant characters from that on the story. it also show how powerfull marines can be as admirals. shows Monkey D. Luffy crying and begging his crew to fucking RUN, thing that never happend before, Luffy always used to be bold and fight even in disavantgem terrain. And if all that l said isnt enough, if you watched Luffy punching the celestial dragon in face after he shot Hatchan and thats not a fucking top momment of the whole anime for you, l cant help to think you are watching all wrong. U really should give an honest chance to Sabaody

The arc is perfect, in my eyes, because of the lore dump we got from start to finish (super novas, rayleigh backstory, racism explained in depth and etc), and the ending, ofc. But the arc was amazing, literally the best one piece arc. The only flaw I agree is the duration, it is kinda short, but that's not always bad.

Favorite is Whole Cake, I got reasons: 1. Brook MVP, stole the poneglyphs, destroyed Carmel's picture, asked big mom to see her thingies, landed a hit on Prometheus, challenged big mom. 2. Luffy vs Katakuri, homie awakened future sight and that was my favorite fight other than Luffy vs Lucci. Katakuri awakened his dough and we got some respectable moments from him. 3. His bounty went up, not by some little amount, by 1 billion. Think of it this way, most people in OP can't even dream of 100 million bounty, he just ended their whole careers. Plus became the fifth emperor. 4. Sanji with the vinsmokes. Nice family reunion (lol) and Sanji protected Cosette, so some badass stuff cuz I like Sanji better then Zoro (by a little, don't start a war). 5. The big mom army vs Luffy, man soloed an army of 10k+ people while starving, broken teeth, his nakama went with Germa, and he's depressed. 6. The scene where Sanji gives Luffy the food and it reminds him of his mom, plus I was emotional at the "No matter how many times you kick me, you're the one who gets hurt!" Took forever to write this lol

Putting anything below a 9 for Skypiea is a crime! That ending is one of the greatest things I have read and watched in the history of manga/anime. Everybody waiting, anticipating the final doom, the few that know cheering on Luffy to ring the bell and the eventual ringing heard everywhere? Chills and tears every time. The reaction of the descendant on his island, knowing his ancestor hadn't lied? Perfection. In my opinion that was the first time I realised that One Piece is truly unique and probably the greatest manga/anime in history.

that was the moment while reading the colored manga i actually wanted to read one piece and it didn't feel like a chore anymore.. usually i would be ok with having to read it ( i challenged myself to finish one piece in 2 weeks and i succeeded in 3) and was looking forward to reading them. water 7 + enies lobby was the only one comparable and some moments in other arcs mainly backstories which i liked.

Skypiea peaks are some of the best in One Piece. But it's lows are definitely some of the worst. 7-8 is a reasonable score. You can't just pretend the boring content within that arc does not exist.

Skypiea is literally peak one piece fantasy and world-building. THEY DIDNT EVEN KNOW IF IT WAS POSSIBLE OR REAL! BUT THEY STILL RISKED IT ALL. They confronted a mystery that required pure faith. They confronted a God with haki that literally allowed him to view the entire island like his own toy set. Striking down from a distance or teleporting to anyone and anywhere he pleased, purely unstoppable. Toying with them. He could literally afford to die because he could restart his own heart! The only one who can actually stop him? A pissed off stretchy guy wondering why this shiny earlobe dude is ruining his adventure. So side tracked by the spectacle of one piece of Zeus humiliating people left and right. It dawns on you. "Ooh luffys actually rubber... oh this dudes fucked!" 😂 And after this "god" (who is exposed as some goof carried by his fruit) tries and fails to kite this newfound apex predator having his Trump card destroyed. He still manages to gets what he wanted. Which is to leave for the new earth (the moon) where he will stake his claim as its god emperor. Licking his wounds, and possibly plotting for a second phase. Out of sight, out of mind. Luffy finally achieving his goal of ringing the bell to let the old man know his ancestor was no liar. Leaving his mark in the minds of all those that see. Casting a titan of a shadow; his jubilant self now the larger than life myth out of reach. Proving that dreams are to be chased. For they will lead above the rest. Skypiea. TO. THIS. DAY. Is still the peak of one piece.

Jesus I get skypiea is overhated, but you don't have to go to the other extreme to defend it. It was objectively very badly paced and none of the antagonists except enel were interesting (I don't even remember anybody else's name).The only good parts of that arc were the noland backstory, ringing the bell and learning about the poneglyphs, all of which happen at the very end of the arc, so you have to sit through like, 50 episodes which drag on forever for it to actually get good. It really gives a bad impression on the series if an arc like this is considered it's peak. Like...be honest, do u 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 think that arc is better than marineford, or Enies lobby?

@@mehulagrawal5927 YES! The fights were hype! The overall narrative and buildup was a slow burn but unraveling the mystery more every episode was a joy! Everytime significant progress was made it was met with a strange or cataclysmic event. The themes of oppression and colinizing were well represented while he manage to sneak in info about a new power system, new tech, a new race of people. Honestly for me personally this was the first time In the series I had no clue what was gonna happen next. My only thing about this whole arc that felt off was how quickly they got used to breathing at that altitude. I wish that problem persisted a bit longer. Not to mention I'm pretty sure he's the first villain that actually got what he wanted. Is that not strange? Out of all the capable factions and villains he's fought Enel is the only one that can boast success. You could argue the akainu and the Marines got what they wanted but they inadvertently started a second great pirate era. Tldr; Naw its too good.

Marineford remains One Piece's most ahead of the curve arc, Enies Lobby is the classic "Luffy saves his friends and everyone lives happily ever after" fairy tale (note that I'm referring to Enies Lobby and not Water Seven, after all, Water Seven as well as Marineford is a totally different arc from the others) while Marineford is just doom, depression and tragedy.
