"Why is God a Pokemon" what the fuck else would God be in this verse? And if you don't like the idea of this verse having a god in the first place, Arceus isn't really an actual confirmed god, it's spoken as such in legends but we don't literally see it create the world or anything. It could just be a legendary Pokemon that people happened to start worshipping. I think it's interesting and adds a lot to the lore. Also Giratina is definitely not forgettable, you're on the minority on that. That boi is Satan, is a complete savage in Platinum and has his own world etc.

I do have to disagree in the fact that the piplup from the anime had no personality. He was an extremely prideful Pokémon that wanted to be independent and stand on his own, one of the reasons he didn't want to evolve was so that he would stay himself and not have to evolve just to get better.

Much to its detriment, a core theme of Generation 4 (at least the Shinnoh region and Professor Rowan) was Pokemon evolution. That's why there were so many uncanny evolutions (and pre evolutions) to Pokemon from previous generations. I find it to be a very interesting dichotomy between the other key theme of creationism. The execution may have been somewhat hit-or-miss; however, I do appreciate the thought put into the story of the series.

There are no orange bipedal lizards, the flame is only another fantasy thing thrown on top of its design (and even then he rated him worse than other starters), there are monkeys that adopt the same postures as chimchar, and have similar colors to chimchar, that means that his _only_ creative thing is that he has a flame on his butt. Thats the difference.

Remember that he didnt think that highly of Charmander in his Gen 1 episode either, so for him Charmander was cool and memorable (because of the color pallete and silhouette) but a bit simple and unoriginal and Chimchar is the same but a bit less original than that (he has a more monotone color pallete without the blue eyes Charmander has and a common monkey stance/ personality on top of that, also since Charmander came first and is pretty popular, the flame in Chimchar´s tail seems less original and unique in him too) so he critizised them in a similar way but put Chimchar a bit lower than Chamander because of what i just said. I dont see any problem with that.

+Alejandro Villada Nah, there's nothing wrong in his preferences, it's just that if it's originality that makes the difference, I really don't see the reason why, they seem so similar in the way they're designed. I guess you can say that charmander came first, but honestly the "take an animal and mix it with fire/grass/etc" way of designing pokemon is so simple and widespread in all of the generations that I can't really say it's original to charmander. Basically it's ok if he likes one better (I also prefer charmander, both because of the blue eyes break the monotony of his orange colour scheme and also becasue lizards are cooler dammit), but if his motivation is that one is more original then the other... I dunno, I just don't see it

_SLIGHTLY_ more original, just because Charmander came first (and Chimchar is obviously based on him) and because a happy, bipedal, blue eyed/ bright orange lizard is _a bit_ more original than a monkey with monkey attitude, monkey color and a fire in his tail... inspired by said lizard. However, they are both great (i even had them both in their respective gens) so meh, who cares, it doesnt matter that much if one of them is _slightly_ less original than the other, we love them both and they are so similar that in the end the one you prefer will be more a matter of preference than anything else.

Porygon evolves into Porygon2 with an Up-Grade. It's an upgrade to the polygon graphics. Porygon2 evolves into Porygon Z with a Dubious Disc. It's a virus. That's why he's all disjointed; like a glitch. For me, Z is a good 4.

Infernape's design is based off of the design of Sun Wukong from journey of the west. The design of the yellow emblems on it's body are modeled after the clouds on which he would ride, the swirls being a commonly used pattern in chinese imagery for clouds.

For me it's hard to hate any design of Pokémon. Almost all of the design have some sort of idea,world myth or tradition behind it (that's why I hate fan-made Pokémon). Flavor text and game lore gives even more depth to some designs. I thought you were going to objectively critique the design strictly at least, but you just go full bias in many. For example I don't like Voltorb but I know about its "mimic" origin and reason of its design.

Edgar Garcia Voltorb's whole reason for being is to be a mimic. It looks an overworld item but then you click on it and it's a Pokemon. If you try to catch it explodes.

I really don't think it's justified to rag on humanoid looking Pokemon, at least individually. Rag on Gamefreak for making that a thing in the first place. Like, that is literally a part of what Pokemon is, since gen 1. Those Pokemon don't "don't look like Pokemon", that IS what a Pokemon can look like. That's like saying Bulbasaur doesn't look like a Pokemon just cause you don't personally like it (I know no one actually thinks that, but still, humanoid Pokemon are Pokemon and have always been, and Gen 4 lore went as far as to mention that Pokemon and humans used to "marry", suggesting that they all evolved from the same thing, humanoid Pokemon are basically the monkeys of that verse).

I feel like Weavile, Lickilicky and Tangrowth (and possibly Electvire and Magmortar as well) were created simply because before gen 6 Gamefreak didn't want to alter the stats of older Pokemon, but they still wanted to make Sneasel, Lickitung and Tangela useful. Actually fuck it that probably goes for most of them aside from the Eeveelutions. I like most of them but I still wish they would've just bumped up the stats.

Torterra is based on the myth of the world being on the back of a turtle. How do you not immediately get that? Torterra's far from my favorite Pokemon, but as far as execution of its concept goes, I easily give it a 5. Torterra's great. Personally, I think Pachirisu is a hard 5. It's the best designed of the Pika clones, imo, and I think it's even better than Pikachu itself. I freaking love Pachirisu! On the subject of Lucario, I absolutely loved it from the moment I saw it for the first time. My love for Lucario has nothing to do with the Pokemon Company pushing it so hard. Lucario is absolutely a 5 for me. The only Pokemon I love more than Lucario are Arcanine, Litten, and Mimikyu. I'm pretty sure people only want Yanmega to have a mega so that it's name would be Mega Yanmega. I already said mega way too many times in that sentence. I think Porygon Z is basically like Bethesda got its hands on a Porygon2.

Note for the future: Garchomp has one of the worst shinies of all time, the colors borderline do NOT change at all. As a Mega, though, becomes bright purple, which is almost worse. Some people, though, see that as a reference to the Unit EVA 01. As a mega, he even has the chin for that. Like, one really long chin. We shall wait the judgment of the anime guru.

Listen, I get Digi doesn't like the absurd amount legendaries, but I think each legendary in gen 4 is a strong pokemon design for the the idea each one is trying to convey. Giratina does a great job of representing distortion and gravity, Darkrai is fitting for a pokemon representing a new moon, Dialga is literally a clock alien, and Palkia's water typing is ingenious for a conveying the idea of space (as water more readily changes states of matter then the other types), though in fairness, they said they weren't evaluating pokemon based on typing. I get that there are a lot of them, and as he said about Arceus, the concept for each wasn't "necessary" for the pokemon world, but I think Arceus is a cool enough design if you had to make a design for a Pokemon god, just as Kyogre is how I would imagine a Pokémon embodying the ocean would look. Maybe that's just me tho =.=

jonathon2goals yeah by far in lore wise, sinnoh presents the most. The designs started become overdesigned but that's because the lore of Pokémon is expanding! We get a theorized god, time entity, space entity, embodiment of knowledge, etc. The lore of Pokémon was being further developed and the amount of Pokémon increased! Made if much more difficult to make simple designs. At the same time , I feel digi is just hating on this .

Digi, About Porygon-Z, The guy is a Glitch Pokémon, they tried to improve Porygon-2 but ended up DESTROYING his code, His neck, Legs and Tail popped out of place, His head rotated 180 Degrees (Notice that the horn is actually what's left of his neck), and everytime he tries to do an attack, he glitches painfully, as a result he got moderately stronger, but still, it's f*cked up and I love it. I believe he's supposed to be "If it's not broken don't fix it" incarnated.

Well, while I started with Gen 1, most of my memories come from Gen 4. It was when I first started going to Serebii and getting hyped about the new gen. I've never been more desperate to play a game than when I finally started up Pokemon Diamond, so even though they came out when I was 12 and I'd already played the shit out of Emerald and Leaf Green, I think of Gen 4 as my childhood Pokemon game. That being said I can't disagree with them on most of these. I love Gallade and think Lickilicky's dopey rich kid look is super endearing but a lot of the Legendaries are forgettable until you get into competitive. I distinctly remember catching Heatran and thinking "cool. got it" and putting it in my PC forever.

In Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness you can put Pokémon bait at certain locations to attract wild Pokémon. So you would get a message that a wild Pokémon is at the bait. So you would go there, and sometimes randomly there's a fucking Munchlax acting just like in the movie, eating all the bait, and the just leaving not giving a fuck - he literally just walks right past you and you can't even try to catch him.

I'm probably too late, but I will explain the thing about Drapion's arms. Scorpions are arachnids, and arachnids have a pair of appendages on their cephalothorax. and in the case od scorpions, their claws are those appendages. So yeah, real scorpions have arms coming out of their heads.
