I don't have too many suggestions but when I work I typically listen to long KZbin videos related to either anime or philosophy. Philosophical Overdose and Massimo Pigliucci's channels are good sources of fairly long (30 min to 1 hour) interviews with philosophers on various topics. Kane B's channel has a bunch of long, multi-part lectures on fairly obscure topics of philosophy where he gives an overview of the topic in one video and then discusses arguments about the topic in subsequent videos. Other than that I listen to Weebcasts (especially the first impressions ones since they're usually three to five hours long), the Pro Crastinators podcast, and Digibro's longer videos. I subscribe to Spotify so when I get tired of any of the stuff above I just pick an artist and try to listen to their entire discography.

You did talk about Bakuman in one of your older videos, at least you mentioned the anime somewhere 100%. I have to say, I'm loving this. Sure, you can say it was the source material that made the adaptations good, but he at least knew how to handle them and keep them funny.

The only show I can remember dropping specifically because of it's art style was Unbreakable Machine Doll. For this show, I was already reading the manga, so maybe that was a contributing factor, but when the anime came out and I started watching, I felt like I needed to hold my hand over my eyes to guard from sun glare. It felt like everything was just reflecting way too much sunlight and that almost made it seem like everything was just blurry, and I could not stand it!

I envy your ability to put quickly and in just some words your thoughs about a show. Geez.

Bungou Stray Dogs is definitely worth continuing for the first arc of the 2nd season. It's a flashback arc and it's like it's own independent story to the rest of the series. I think i've actually commented this before, but I'd say that there is some pretty good fight choreography in BSD, it actually reminds me a lot of Jojo's stands. Regardless it's not your genre and there's lots of anime to watch so I can understand why you're apprehensive.

91 Days I had the same concern with, but after going to compare with the godfather I realised it did have 2 good points from being an anime: 1) An edgy MC with Lelouch style plans where he manipulates everything to all come together in a final plan. In comparison to say, the ending of the godfather, where his plan essentially amounts to getting his guys to shoot everyone instead of not doing that. it worms a bit better from an underdog perspective that is in a lot of anime. 2) A quirky crazy antagonist for a few episodes

There was a point in my life where I really enjoyed the Akame ga Kill! anime and while I don't care much for it anymore I at least can't get myself to hate it for most of the same reasons you stated. That said I agree its biggest failing was the fact that the animation direction wasn't very good which made it feel a lot less cool than it was going for. Personally I found that the manga to be slightly more enjoyable since it has a cooler art style akin to a twisted heavy metal album cover but even then the manga's novelty wore off when it started to force in a lot of darker elements and the story started feeling drawn out.

Hey, don't go dissing Bananya. The soundtrack was orchestrated, top of the line CGI was used, several banana-cat's died in the fruit slicer episode, and it ended with the main character escaping from being charged for war crimes. Did I make all that up? Probably, but I made a couple bad jokes with my friends about why this was the best anime ever before I watched it. After watching it I had to redefine what I consider "quality" Japanese animation.

Digi gets alot of shit because he drops something after an episode or two but I think his way is the best way watch anime.There is just SOOOO much out there and you have to think,do you want to waste three hours and a half of your day (about 10 episodes) just to see if you eventually like it? Let's be honest here,about 95% of Anime is total fucking garbage but it's that 5% that is worth it.It's just like digging for gold.
@TheRibbonRed7 жыл бұрын
Or mining oil. Sometimes you get natural gas which equals a mediocre anime. Sometimes you hit the jackpot. Most times you get false positives. It's kinda the reason why there are faculties in universities studying the location of oils in the world. It's the reason why people like Digi are analyzing the anime industry. To increase chances of hitting that sweet returns. Yet unlike those non-renewable resources, you can actually influence the production of an anime. So you can, in theory, push them into making better works.

The Blue Drop manga series are really fuckin weird and beautiful, but the franchise takes place across over a thousand years starting with the anime in 1999ish, one of the manga stories takes place shortly after the anime, within a decade or so; then another takes place probably within 200 years, and the last is suuuuuper later, and the mangas as a whole paint an image of suffering and guilt spanning hundreds of generations that I can't help but love

It's insanely rare for me to do that given that I've reviewed almost every anime I've ever hated or called "shit". I was first attracted to Amagami SS due to the beautiful character designs of the six main girls, and then I found out it wasn't a harem show that I'd expected. Instead each arc with one of the six girls happened on different time lines and was fully focused on one of the girls each time. Every arc had a very different dynamic due to the different characters involved, and the boring ones are totally skippable if you just want the arc with the girl you like the most. With all that being said, the show is totally sold on the fact that the girls are all unbelievably lovable, and if you don't find that with any of them you might as well not watch it.
