As a German this is literally my breakfast on most days. If I‘m short on time or too lazy to go to the bakery I‘ll switch the brötchen for normal toast or make porridge with raisins. But I know some people who don’t like porridge so it really depends on your taste edit: as a 15 year old student, out of all things I‘ve ever commented I certainly didn’t expect my basic af breakfast to blow up lol

Breakfast in Germany was one of the best experiences of my life.. nothing beats being able to walk a couple blocks to grab the freshly baked bread at 6 am, then to head back home, hit the butcher on the way back to get your fresh sliced meats, cheeses next door, then back home to get the buttermilk, orange juice and coffee out on the table.. the bread still steaming and warm, the heat against the cold cuts and veggies 🤤🤤🤤 best thing I've ever had in my life and it was hugely because of it's wholesome simplicity.

It's still simple, but a lot of it. It's not many different foods and nothing you have to prepare except for boiling eggs and cutting vegetables.

Let me tell you a tip; when you cut bread with chef’s knife, it gets dull quickly. Use a bread knife for bread instead

@@patty4449 a good bread knife is nowhere close to useless or bad and I can say that as a chef. But I have to admit every knife you use should be well maintained and sharp. I love bread knives and I just can't let it stand as a bad useless knife

As a Bavarian I have to say, not everyone in Germany says "Brötchen" and "Brezel"... In Bavaria (where it comes from) we say "Brez'n".. and I really absolutly hate the word "Brötchen" it is basically the minimization of the word "Brot" that means bread in English.. There are many regional dialects and I prefer "Semmel" instead. That's spoken more likely in southern Germany and Austria. Do what you want with that information.. ^^

In Norwegian we call it a "Rundstykke", directly translated to "Round piece" 😂. Also got the word "kuvertbrød", not sure how it translates besides "brød" is "bread".
