Ratskins - Warhammer Necromunda Lore (No Rodents Were Harmed)

Little piece of lore you missed. It is presented within the lore that the Raatskins might be decended from the origional technitions who built and ran the hive, and much like Tech priests, thier religion is them trying understand the handed down knowledge of how the hive works, which is how they can black out whole sections, cause quakes and otherwise ask the hive sprits for guadence.

I miss purple carrot, my delaque gangs ratskin scout. He was the only member who did anything useful. We even made house rules so I could recruit him as a permanent member of the gang.

They were a challenge to run in the original game (don't know about the new edition) but I always got a kick of out ignoring almost all the random hive events (except Long Shadows). One of the things I did with my gangs were limiting blindsnake pouches for gangers (not juves) and one of our house rules was that if you were able to take a techo skill you could choose Inventor (and get to roll on the gear table). Other thing I did was find iocronic (sp?) slime and give it to a juve to make them an unpinnable close combat monster. One of my best managed to kill five gangers in close combat before he got set on fire but survived and became a great warrior.

07:11 There is a posting on the GW's website about the upcoming Las Vegas Open 2025 preview. In that posting there are some outlines of the models that will be featured during that preview. I believe that one of the outlines (with the green background) is for the future Necromunda's Millisaur model.

We already have millisaur models. I'm 99% sure that is going to be some new beast for the ash waste nomads, and they're getting the House of treatment next.

Awesome choice for the second lore instalment Damon, Ratskins, scavies et al were (are) such an awesome addition to the more infamous denizens of the Underhive. They are such a fantastic option to introduce either a spiritual or archeo-tech theme to scenarios in any campaign. If any one knows of any suitable STL's for these Guys then please let me know. Once again m8 really well read and received, please keep it up 😉

I do hope they revisit ratskins eventually. I can understand why they might be reluctant, and I'm sure significant redesigns to the look and retcons to the lore will likely happen, but it's still a cool archetype that can be explored.

I have mixed thoughts about bringing them back. They'd really need to be basically remade from the ground-up, renamed, etc, but it could be amazing if they do it right. I want to believe in Hive Primus being a living, breathing thing!

@wellywoodwargaming Ofc but it's not about being cool I'm sure you know; they really were...not done in a sensitive way and that's true. I'd recommend checking out the old Necromunda comics you can find online (part of larger comic collections they did, can't remember the names of). They have some incredibly, blatantly offensive art for Ratskins that even I wish I could forget, and I'm not usually *that* sensitive to that sort of thing. But all that being said, just to reiterate, they have so much amazing lore I really do think it's absolutely worth the effort to redo and update them 👍
