When I see something like this I hate how hair metal got eventually slagged off as barely musical douches playing to get pussy. Sure, some of the lyrics are pretty banal and Pearcy had an off-night every night, but DeMartini put more effort and talent into one solo than most indie rock guitarists put into their whole discography. Hope his net worth is still in the millions, he deserved his paycheck. Damn!

He didn't try to play just FAST. What he played just sounded good. His playing did contain the speed element, but as just another tool. Many from this era relied on speed because they couldn't really play. This guy had the attitude in his phrasing. GREAT!!! For those that know what they're listening to. I saw several shows back then and I remember thinking it doesn't get any better that this. I didn't know how truly rare these performances were in the world of rock. Man I miss this stuff.

I always found this live version sounding kinda melancholic, much darker than the single and the original liver performances. It's kinda good in a way that I always play this one if I am thinking about Robin Crosby (even when it is actually Warren Demartini his solo that steals the show here). Guess it composes of both the greatness and the sadness of the band RATT...

Warren is badass! I had the pleasure of seeing them on their first tour supporting Out of the Cellar back in early '85. Leading up to the show, I had seen plenty of live photos of them in magazines like Circus and Hit Parade and noticed that Warren was always on the same side of the stage in every picture. So I knew at that point I had to get there early and plant myself near that part of the stage so I could be up front watching him totally shred during the entire show. It was incredible! I picked up the guitar soon afterwards, and have been playing for 40 years now

They did manage to stay together a long time. They recorded alot of music together and left a legacy for their fans. Everyone's moved on and gone their own way. If you look on KZbin you can find postings from time to time. It's kind of interesting to see what each one is up to!😀😃🤗🤘

It didn't help matters when Robin started to feel insecure about his place in the band and contribution. Warren was the "favored" guitar player of the group and there was some resentment on Robins part. I wish he would have spoken up and told the band how he was feeling about things. He may have been able to turn things around before he took a downfall. To me it seems when you see someone struggling like that you try to help and show support for them..Robin had none of this from his fellow band members from what I saw. I also want to clarify about Warren being the "favored" guitar player. Robin knew how good Warren was so let him be lead guitarist. I think Robin started to feel left out and things started down sliding from there. I also want to put out there I think Warren De Martini is the best there is for guitar solos and riffs! Nobody can touch him. You got a good example of that in this video!

But something about Warren's style, especially his phrasing, has always really left me in awe. And I agree with IzzyStorm concerning their live shows. Solos should be extensions of the song, giving a different interpretation musically. These days, there are no more great solos since kids today are too lazy to learn more than 3 chords. I enjoy solo "breaks" in a show so you can change gears and just enjoy the guitar sound and see what chops the guitarist brought that day. Not many can pull of a great solo, but these guys should. I don't expect anything great these days.
@PDXguitarfreak12 жыл бұрын
@evanskick22 ... I agree, Ratt was very big in the 80s. They had several platinum selling albums (Out of the Cellar being the best selling at over 3,000,000 copies). Their videos were always very popular on MTV and they headlined (or co-headlined) arenas for part of the decade. I agree that compared to EVH and GNR, they didn't sell as many records or have as lasting an impact - perhaps that was what you meant.

@MetalMaster10111 жыл бұрын
Ratt never really stopped. They went on hiatus from 1991 to 1997, then came back without Croucier and Robbin. Then in 2000 Pearcy left, and all that was left was Blotzer and Warren for a while but the band never stop playing. They added Jizzy Pearl, Robby Crane, John Coraby as replacements in that period. Pearcy rejoined in 2007, and ever since then they've been touring and released a new album (2010) with only 3 original members, Crane (bass) and Carlos Cavaso (rhythm guitar). However in 2012 Croucier rejoined the band, so now they are 4/5 original members. They are still going strong playing clubs and festivals. They are working on a new album.
