So spooky and adorable! Another favorite customization material of mine is iron-on effect sheets. You can get them in all colors, textures and sparkles, and cut them into cool shapes with scissors, knives and punches. You can even use the same stencil-making technique, to cut the effect sheets, and just iron the pieces on.
@RattusRattus2 жыл бұрын
Hell yeah!!!! I had found a couple of glittery orange drippy iron on letters at the thrift store recently but couldn’t commit to one phrase for the jacket 🥲 (though “pumpkinhead” would look cool I think and I might still put that on there) I didn’t know they made them in other fun textures tho that’s super cool and I’ll have to check them out!!! Thank you :D

To be honest I have just been continuing putting fabric patches over the parts that are cracking 🥲 I think the only real solution is to peel the flakes off and put a patch you like in its place 🥲 Best of luck with your jacket! For music my fav band lately is Paralyzed Age - very spooky and vampiric ! My fav album of theirs is Empire of the Vampire - highly reccomend checking them out if you’re not already a fan :-) 🦇🧛🏻♀️ cheers 🖤

There could be a solution to your peeling jacket problem. There's a brand called Angelus Leather paint, you could get some of that and remove the peeled bits before touching it up with that paint. I did some blood converse with it before and it just needs a bit of heat to help set it. They have a softener as well so that it's more flexible. They do different sizes of it too.

real leather is actually better for the environment than faux leather, because faux leather is literally just plastic, and it does not biodegrade but does fall apart and doesn't last nearly as long as real leather. i understand being uncomfortable with leather being literally an animals skin, or preferring the cheaper option, but if you're more concerned with the environmental aspect it's a lot better to invest in real leather! personally i also prefer it texture wise because synthetic fabrics feel really greasy to me

I've been wanting to make my own buttons but I was worried they'd be ruined in the washing machine. Maybe I should just make them into pins so I can take them out before I wash the garment.
@RattusRattus2 жыл бұрын
That’s a really good idea ! I also think if you cover the whole button in epoxy it might be protected enough (just be careful to poke out the button holes before it dries ofc)

Start out by experimenting on a scrap piece of fabric! My biggest struggle when I started out was winding the bobbin 😖. Go slow at the start. Also, this is just front personal experience but if you start out with difficult fabrics (eg fur or silk), transitioning to cotton patches will be a breeze :D. But that may just be me making it difficult for myself haha 😅 Good luck!n
