Who are we kidding here/hear...ABBA are on their own PLANET of greatness. Best band of all time and it's not even close! 😍👂 Chiquitita probably my personal favorite? Certainly one of their best.

The spanish version of this song, was their greatest success in Latin America... That snowman belongs to the Leysin winter center, in Switzerland. If you are looking for: "AMAZING! The Jacksons 1979 Full HD Blame it on the Boogie!", you will see Michael Jackson and his brothers singing during the day, in front of the same snowman.😀 Abba had performances in the same winter center, that same week ("ABBA live in Switzerland"). Take care, Ratty ✌️ Love ❤️ from Chile 🇨🇱🤗👍

ABBA make me so happy. The first song I remember hearing on record was Fernando, I was probably about 5 or 6 years old. Just beautiful.

Mexico This song, in Spanish, was number one for 32 weeks in Mexico, that's from now, end October, to next next su,mmer , May - June I don't know know if it's a world record but 32 weeks as number one in a total different enviroment is an achivment

I've read lots of comments from Latin American fans (various ages) and i conclude it's some kind of a traditional anthem the Spanish version there.Passing from Gen to Gen or smth.
@christianoazzuro67112 ай бұрын
How did that escaped you?In Latin America this song is still regarded as a traditional hymn.When released there it had such a phenomenal impact(sold astonishing amounts) that ABBA felt the need to record a whole album in Spanish in return that also hit big.(1980/Title was 'Gracias Por La Musica")People sung this legendary song during the Covid 19 lockdown from their balconies to give courage and hope to each other.

The use of the word "alarming" cracked me up. What, were ABBA worried their Spanish fans would invade Sweden and kidnap them unless they recorded an album in Spanish? Now there's a plotline for another ABBA musical! 🤣

@@christianoazzuro6711 Sorry, no disrespect intended. I thought ABBA themselves had used the word "alarming", so I was trying to guess what they were worried about.

Working title from 'Chiquitita" was "In the arms of Rosalita" and featured Frida on the lead.There's some brief demo sneaked many Abba fans know.The song that was to be the lead single from the Voulez Vous" album was the disco-funk banger "If it wasn't for the Nights".But then the idea got scrapped in favour of 'Chiquitita" that came after.Imo it would have been wiser to release both tracks as a double A sided single.@ diverse bangers for the contrast.IIWFTN unfairly remained an album track tht fans super adore.

Hi, if you like ABBA you might really enjoy these famous songs - the old ones: honey, joney, Waterloo, Ring, ring, later ones likeí Angel eyes, The king has lost his crown or Move on and last but not least from their album Visitor song The day before you came . Also their very last album they released like 3 years ago is great, one can just wonder what they could do in their 70s. Also Frida had a great song from 1996 Även en blomma.😊

This has always been my favorite ABBA song since I was a kid. It has everything, amazing vocals, great harmonies, beautiful melody and it's very creative. Hearing this at the ABBA Voyage concert is so cool because it becomes a slightly more rocky version with the live band. They were in Switzerland at this time and needed to record a video for the song so they just went up on a mountain and did this, that's the story with the snow man. At one point towards the end there's a random dude walking in the background

Abba give away their song "Chiquitita" (my little one). The single is released a week later and storms the charts worldwide. To date, "Chiquitita" has probably raised a few million euros for Unicef.

The clip came from a TV Special Abba in Switzerland-or some title like that. It was kind of strange they never did a proper video of the song. The background doesn't really fit with the tone of the song.

Thanks, Ratty! 🪕 I hope your eye heals swiftly. 🔸 Since you wondered, ABBA did Spanish versions of many of their songs. A few years ago, during a Las Vegas show for the performer Charo (who was huge in the 70s) she told how she helped ABBA with the lyrics to this one and translating some of their other hits. She also said that "Chiquitita" is what her mother used to call her.

Thank you! It was mostly healed up by the next day! At some point I definitely wouldn't mind checking out the Spanish version of this song.

Hello dejar friend, so happy to see you with more ABBA songs and finally Is the moment to these special song "Chiquitita" means 'little girl' (with affection) in spanish And the melody have a spanish tune, specialy by the acustic guitar But the center is the wonderful piano, like akmost all ABBA songs "Chiquitita" is a beautiful song, it has hopeful lyrics, a melody that starts very soft with the blonde Agnetha's solo, then grows and explodes in a powerful chorus; Agnetha and Anni Frida's vocal harmonies are of excellence (Agnetha is soprano, Anni Frid is mezzo soprano, and together blending together the 'Third Voice' of ABBA) "Chiquitita" was composed especially for the Concert by UNICEF, invited (with a lot of artist) by Bee Gees ABBA premiered "Chiquitita" that night in January 9 (1979), and its royalties are eternal for UNICEF "Chiquitita" was ABBA's greatest success in Latin America, that prompted ABBA to record it in Spanish, and its success was so extraordinary that in the following years ABBA recorded an album with its best songs entirely in Spanish "Chiquitita" was specialy the greatest hit of ABBA in my country Argentina "Chiquitita" is in the Top 3 of all ABBA worldwide biggest hits, with 'Dancing Queen" and "Fernando", and it's a fantastic Masterpiece This promotional video was in February 1979 in Swizterland, when ABBA go there to a special TV "ABBA in Switzerland", for the 'International year of the Child' (That's why Is the snowman there, for the childs) It's their only promotional video that ABBA made without Sweden I wish to see you soon in another reactions to ABBA songs GOD bless you and stay safe My best regards from Buenos Aires Argentina South America
