Yeah...another G Pygmian! Actually, I have the Art Quint G pygmy also. Why 2 G Pygmies? Well, I did a few 1 on 1 sessions.....they loved it - being able to connect "together"- even if they are only playing 1 or 2 notes on the drum. for the future comparison vids like this where you don't have the same scales: it might be helpful to try to use the same note on each drum and show the difference in the sound (ie: just C3, G3 or C4 on each drum for this video). When you play the same 'song,' the subtle differences can get lost. Very helpful video nonetheless.

Gooooood morninggg!I actually do have another with the same scale-> the ART QUINT G Pygmy.It's just that so many asked for the comparison to the RAV. Which is kinda "make sense" as Rav is the industry standard. Sigh...wish these drums are NOT so expensive HaHa. Anyway, I am actually will be making a comparison of the Frog Drum to the Art Quint....on my list. It's a very "difficult" subject-as well--- because the ArtQuint ...although it's a tongue-an -size and all....the ArtQuint uses a very different approach of producing "sounds". The tonalities or tone field are controlled by the circles on the surface....with NO internal brackets/frame(Frog and Rav). The AQ- sound wise are then control by where you tap on the "circle tone field"- where harmonics can be wild etc.(which is very similar to the handpan) **in the works- I am making a video: of ALL the cons on each drums(Rav,AQ,Frog,Pulsar,Guda etc). Anyway, thanks again for the input- I will definitely "try" to implement each and every advise I get here. Have a blessed day!

@@maxandchloemeditation opps, i guess i needed to add a couple more words to my original reply 🤪: when comparing 2 SPECIFIC types of drums where you don't have the same scale (rav vs frog) then maybe try to showcase the similar notes to get a closer idea of the subtle difference in sound/tone. You provide great information/insight. Keep up the good work.

Seriously, when I started my channel- it wasn’t for reviews or anything.started it as a place for me to document myself- my personal spiritual journey. I guess you can look or watch my very very first initial video….it was “bad”, compared to my recent ones. Hahaha also the name “max and Chloe” were the names of my cats--back in the days. In short----TODAY, I still have my Frog Drum G Pygmy - and I do own an ART QUINT G Pygmy as well--to which I just made a video. I dont own a G Pygmy Rav Vast to compare to. As said, All the mentioned makers make great drums. You have to decide which one called out to you. Each has their pros and cons. Find the scale that speaks to you first, then shop for the drum. Remember, the lower the scale, the deeper the sounds. The E Low and the G Pygmy are lowest tongue drum(s) produced.

Thanks a lot ... very interestung + helpfull video . 1 question left : the old rav is 1,5 mm steel while the frog drum is 2mm steel so does it make a difference ... do you slap the frog a bit harder !? Have a great day ! :)

As the player....I don't think you are going to "find" much differences btw 1.5mm and 2mm. Disclaimer*: they say the 2mm are louder than the 1.5mm...maybe....to me - maybe subjective- they both sounded good. I guess , maybe when someone is busking---the 20% - 30% extra loudness make a difference? As far as "playability" - I find them the "same"- I think it's like tinkling on the piano- Yamaha VS Steinway- Yamaha will have the lighter touch but once you started playing- your fingers will adjust to the required touches. OHHH....the only thing will the FROD....you do have to hit "harder" for certain harmonics. One thing about the FROG is that when it comes down to normal playing and RECORDING- you hardly get any spikes on the recorded audio- just smooth leveled recording. have an awesome day!

GM!Tuning with magnets - only work, with single notes non harmonic tongue drums. With instruments like Frog, Rav, Art quint- which has harmonics- its not suggested or the best. Example -on the ding of the Rav has 8 harmonic(or 8 notes on one tongue: 3rd/5th etc)- magnets will detuned some of the voices. One reason= that separates regular tongue drum(single cut tongue) and artisan harmonic drums.Thats why Rav sounded so full because each note sounded like a "chord". Have a great day!

Not a fair comparison if not playing the same notes on each drum . You need two of the same scale drums . to do this right , good try but , Not as effective!
