Yeah her decent into madness I guess made sense but I look at it more as like she did what she thought she truly had to do even though it was horrible but after all she had been through and all the important people she had lost and 2 of her dragons on top of it, I dont think she was willing to even risk the chance of losing when she was finally so close to her main goal that she had been trying to accomplish her whole life and she did what she thought she had to do, it's just the way they went about it and portrayed it in the show was as if a switch had flipped and she just suddenly turned bad and evil and then boom killed the city and all that when I think that if they had maybe explained it from her point of view that ya sure it still would have been horrible but it would have shown her side of things and her perspective more and I think people and fans would have been more understanding. But yeah hopefully they show her " decent into madness " in the books better than they did in the show

You're blind. She was a psycho from the beginning and i was saying that since i saw her starting to love khal Drogo. She fell in love with a murderer and rapist who raped her multiple times (don't try to tell me that a person with a morale would do that). She kept with her Jorah, a pedophile who fell in love with her since she was basically a child and a former slave trader (who was still ok with slavery even when Daenerys bought the Unsullied). She was an pretentious entitled brat and a psychopath, and some people realized that only when her advisors died, because they were the only people who were stopping her from doing the mad things whe always said she wanted to do since S1-S2. Her army was composed by crazy raiders/rapers and killer machines without emotions. Of course, she did also good things. But everyone did good things, even crazy or evil people. It is context to the story people are missing not the writing. Game(chess or cards) of throne(s) Hearts (who is alive at the end) Diamonds (who has things they look forward to achieving in the future) spades (who is buried and why) clubs (who died fighting for something they never would obtain) To understand the characters you treat them like people playing poker. To understand the song of ice and fire you treat them as pieces on a chess board. Look at how all the characters who are tied to the iron throne change their clothing. Cersei, Olenna, Daenerys all go into black outfits but hey if they all wore white first that would be too much of a tell. The way you treat the story needs to change and the writing defends its self if you do that. What can’t you have in chess, a past. The move you make is set, the only way you over come a wrong move is if you forget the past and focus on the present and the future. Daenerys always wanted the throne. Now you have context for the story and what are the thing both poker and chess share. The 5 rules Tyrion never stuck to and the fact that you never go and play poker or chess with literal intentions. They are played by watching and reading your opponent so you can learn their tells. You look for literal meaning in game of thrones you will not get a pleasant ending. You play it like the game it is built upon you get the answers you want as you are playing the game correctly. Figuratively and metaphoric meanings. Bran the broken (woken, spoken, token, arson, dragon) the show is epic bran is the silent protagonist. You look at the literal and you fail to see the candy (honeycomb) that ignites the tale. Bran woke the dragons from stone and it gave Daenerys the illusion that she had the power of the dragons but they were under the control of Bran the whole time. All the Starks are in black till the very end. Then Arya and Sansa are in white and then Jon Snow learns that he doesn't have to keep wearing black. You need to watch and read the show and learn the tell. Like in poker or chess.

No. There was no choice for her. Every possible choice led her to Mad Queen, because the writers wanted so. You see, when you look on character development throughout the series you can see that they are truly making choices that will affect them in completely different ways, one of my favourite examples is Robb Stark. In case of Robb Stark his choices led to his demise. In case of Daenerys Targaryen, well she didn't have such choices. She could ignore Jon and go straight for the throne and become a tyrant or she could help Jon (exactly what she did) and... and become a tyrant. She could listen to her advisors and lose something, because they were constantly wrong (what is pathetic, but that is irrelevant now) or she could ignore them and be called Mad Queen for that immediately. That is why I am calling it bad writing. There are no actions and consequences for Daenerys. Ever since season 7 her character is faced with impossible situations and I am not sure why is that.

Yes it's how it was done. We needed another season. We should have had a full season of the whitewalker war, where she loses a lot of her army and learns of Jon. That unhinged her a little. Then a full season 9 against Cersei which shows her go fully insane as the people chose evil Cersei over her and she is left alone and unloved by even Jon who is sickened by their incest. Then have misandei die mid season and Danny then lose a dragon and finally lose it. HBO wanted 10 seasons and I see why. The producers rushed 2 or 3 full sessions into 1

Once they were gone...but hey, everyone it entitled to their own opinion. In my view, you are missing a very intriguing experience: The realisation how we, by cheering and encouraging people, may feed their narcissistic inner dragon to a point where it can become very, very destructive. One only has to look around at all the narcissistic rage of people who did not get the story "their way". I find this quite interesting.

Just like her father, she gave her enemies the justice she thought they deserved. She wanted to burn Qarth just because 13 people weren't going to let her in at first. She killed Rickon and Randyll Tarly because they refused to bend the knee. She wouldn't listen to Tyrion, who said she should imprison them. No, she chose to almost wipe an entire house from existence. She has always been mad. The soldiers she burnt were her enemies, but not her real enemies (Cersei etc.). They were simply soldiers doing their duty. The Masters she crucified weren't all responsible for the crucifiction of the slave children. She didn't just free slaves from their masters, she overthrew the regime of a city without replacing it with another regime. All she did was causing unrest and even more agony for the slaves, because the masters took revenge and reestablished the old system. Daenerys didn't think before doing anything: she wanted to free the slaves, so she killed people without giving them a trial, without even knowing whether they were guilty or not. After destroying their regime she just left, without thinking about how the city should be ruled in the long term. She killed enemies just because she felt it was just, which it was not. @Faisal Nasser She had initially held Jon captive on dragonstone, until Tyrion talked both of them into finding common ground. The show has presented multiple hints to the ending of her character arc and there’s no denying it, regardless of how absurd season 8’s writing is. . . . *Season 1:* “I am Daenerys Stormborn of the blood of old Valyria, and I will take what is mine- with fire and blood.” According to Daenerys, King’s Landing is hers and she did take it with fire and blood, didn’t she? *Season 2:* “When my dragons are grown, we will take back what was stolen from me, and destroy those who have wronged me. We will lay waste to armies and burn cities to the ground.” She promised to lay waste to armies and burn cities to the ground, she did burn King’s Landing to the ground, didn’t she? There is also this prophecy (vision) of her in a heavily destroyed throne room and ash all around her in the same season. Sound familiar? *Season 3:* She burned her first city, Astapor. I’ll counter my own argument here: yes, it was satisfying to watch. The slaver was a intrinsically bad person, even more so with the application of modern societal moral principles. However the fact that it is a city and that she burnt it still stands. It is a truth. *Season 4:* “They can live in my new world, or die in their old one.” The population of King’s Landing didn’t immediatly worship or or greet her with open arms, Dany did see it as them not wanting to live in her new world, therefore they had to die in their old one. *Season 5:* She is proven to be a distastrous ruler, her strong point is conquering cities, not ruling over them. The city of Meereen is torn between ex-slaves and ex-masters who hate each other to the core. Daenerys, instead of mending the conflict, somehow manages to unite both parties against her, by killing an ex-slave for killing an ex-master (executing someone without a trial, for the crime of executing another without a trial- hypocritical much?), while also ignoring and abolishing the culture of Meereen (overthrowing one regime without the imposement of another regime, so slave masters are ultimately able to switch back to their old practices the moment her power over them falters). To combat this chaos, she imprisoned the first born son of every noble house and threatened them with her dragons. After feeding one of them to her dragons, she states this: “Who is innocent? Maybe all of you are, maybe none of you are. Maybe, I should let the dragons decide.” This already proves that she has completely abandonded justice and common sense. To better illustrate my point, think of Dany coming to Westeros, demanding the firstborn son of every great house (Robb Stark, Jaime Lannister, Joffrey Baratheon, Robert Arryn…) and decides to just randomly pick one of them, Robb Stark, and feed him to her dragons and proceed to proclaim she doesn’t know which of them are guilty or innocent. She will just let the dragons decide. This is further proving the point that she doesn’t come to Westeros as a ruler or some sort of liberator (there isn’t even any slavery to abolish / liberate there, it was already illegal by Westerosi law) but instead as a conqueror who is completely alienated to the people, both the common and the elite. She will not bring justice or liberation, but rather destruction and chaos. *Season 6:* She burns down all Dothraki leaders alive and proclaims that only she is fit to “lead the Dothraki”. It’s quite a huge statement to make, considering the Dothraki are a culture of rapists, raiders and slavers as established in the series. If she considers herself qualified to lead them, then this says a lot about her. During the burning of King’s Landing, the Unsullied massacred thousands of innocent people or soldiers who surrendered, while the Dothraki and Northmen did the same and sexually harrassed the people (we don’t actually see the rape, but we can be pretty sure it happened on a large scale). She truely proved herself to be fit to rule this cruel bunch of rapists and murderers. *Season 7:* She burns the Lannister army alive and burns the two Tarlys, the father and brother of Samwell Tarly alive, even though they surrendered to her. Their crime, you ask? Daenerys claimed she gave them a “choice”, “bend the knee or die”, however calling that a choice is equal to calling slavery a choice- if you have to choose between being a slave or dying- then this is not a choice at all, but blackmail, forced or a threat. *Season 8:* Episode 1: When Daenerys travels to winterfell, she notices the distant attitude of the peasants and looks rather disappointed. However, when her dragons arrived and caused the peasants to cower in fear (then running away), she has this smile on her face (it’s beneficial to her quest for the throne if she had at least made an effort to connect with the Westerosi, common and elites alike, and this is the opposite of that). At this point she really doesn’t care about how she is perceived by her potential people and finds joy in the fear of the peasants produced by her and her dragons. She also talks about the struggle of life and death, the war between the Living and the Army of the Dead as “Jon’s war”-as if Daenerys literally doesn’t care if she has people to rule over or that they are literally fighting against hordes of undead (she is well aware of the level of threat the army of the dead poses at this point in time, as opposed to when she first met Jon at Dragonstone). Her war was always about the throne, never about the people or the living. Episode 2: When Jon Snow revealed his true identity to his aunt, all Daenerys was worried about is that she has a political rival. They never even talk about the fact that they are related by blood or that their relationship is incestous, the first thing that came out of her mouth was her worry that her power is now challenged. Episode 3: She demanded that Jon Snow lie about his identity, further proving that Dany cared little about what other people were or what they want. She also saw the death of one of her dragons and of her best friend, effectively making her emotionally distressed and unstable, combined with the fact that she could no longer trust her lover and nephew because he had a better claim to the throne. . . . All in all, there were multiple hints / signs at Daenerys’ fate, what she has done and will do in Westeros if she had lived. Most of the audience didn’t see them because her actions up to the start of season 7 are carried out upon those whom the audience feel should be prosecuted (I’m reiterating Tyrion’s point). She was whitewashed for far too long that it has become difficult to accept, and even in GRRM’s books it is becoming more evident. Personally, it was difficult for me to accept that she may end up being an anti-hero sometime near the end of season 5 as she was my favourite character (up to that point only), but the fact that Daenerys Targaryen as a character / person was able to fall from my most-preferred to least-favoured does show something. Edit: A counterclaim to your point above would be that, despite her accomplishments, she has killed innocents. She killed them as they had carried out an action deemed a crime by her. At the end of the day, she is the judge, and not even her advisors can sway her decisions on that matter as she has a tendency to dismiss them in the face of ‘justice’. As a person, I can see reasons as to why people would like her (other than her good looks), but some of her actions are undeniably ethically questionable.

I can't help but feel like Jorah and Tyrion made her, and pushed her towards her goal to "break the wheel"...for her to make the choices between what is good and evil...and when she makes one wrong move, is condemned to death for it. It's like they used her to get this far, and once they had no more use for her, they disposed of her. Used her for her power and her dragons, and when she began to grow beyond what they felt they could control, they killed her. Jon was nothing more than a tool, the perfect weapon, because she loved him, and wanted so badly to trust someone, and he turned on her. I’m tired of everyone shaming her, or saying “she should’ve just let the north be it’s own kingdom” since when in the history of monarchs has a king or queen just gave up their kingdom? You come at her for killing her enemies, but everyone else does the same? Jon killed a boy, he didn’t want too, but he had too. She is no different. She was a QUEEN, no monarch gives up THEIR kingdoms without a fight. The north was hostile, didn’t even give her a chance and are already demanding independence? Since when is being rude to your king or queen to get what you want a thing? When she needed her advisors and friends the most, they betrayed her. Sansa never gave her a chance. She didn’t go “mad”, she was angry and acted on it. She destroyed a city and thousands died, welcome to war, casualties on every side. The west never gave her a chance!! And when the people won’t love you, then the only way they will bow is by fear. She showed them the Targaryen wrath after all, they underestimated her. she is the dragon queen. From fire she was born to remake the world. And she did, it was ugly how it happened, but it happened. Say what you want about the targaryens, but they were conquerors.

I was just watching your video once again, and I realized - Daenerys did, after all, leave the world a better place. I just wish showrunners didn't drive her down that path, rushing and making it unbelievable and even stupid end. I do hope Martin will do her justice. But it does give me some warmth, to understand that she did what she always wanted (well, in TV show at least, in the books I still hope for her house with the red door and a lemon tree). She saved the living and protected them, she freed thousands of slaves, she killed tyrants and broke the wheel. Now she can rest in piece with Drogo and Rhaego, just like in her vision in the House of the Undying. Such an amazing character, I love her no matter what.

The first part of this video was so bittersweet... She was powerful, she was good, and she knew what her weaknesses were and listen when she did not know what to say. This is one of the BEST Daenerys fanvids...I can´t describe the feelings. The music, the dialogues, the cut of scenes, everything perfect. You showed us her whole transformation, from the abused child, to merciful and powerful ruler, to right ruler and idealist and to the fall and becoming the Mad queen. Her tragedy, her greatness and fall. The love between her and Jon and his sacrifice for the sake of others. You showed the parallels well: how she was loved in Essos, but never in Westeros. And the saddest part is probably from 5:40 to 6:40 and the best part is from 1:35 to 2:40 . I am still so sad about her fate, and I will never be over it. :/ She deserved better. If she had Jorah by her side, she would end differently. She sacrificed so much to get there and in the end she didn´t even sit on the throne.

Viserion's fate couldn't be predicted. She lost her best friend because she wanted to hurry into battle. Her fault. She betrayed him first. She said she would be a better ruler than those who came before. She proved to be the worst. She was his aunt. He has every right to reject her. He's not forced to have sex with her anyway. She wanted him to be there in a sexual way. He killed her to save the world. Her life ended when she burned KL and refused to see the atrocities she had commited.
