Thank you. I am about to get my old new RAV4 in Germany and I want to replace the stock radio. This is a great resource. Big thumbs up!

No problem! Hope it helped and if you have any questions just holler! Well, don’t holler literally, especially in your house… haha

@@HoratiusXXL Das Kenwood 5020.

Didn’t you use to be able to buy install kits where you could just clip the old and new harness together without clipping and reconnecting wires?
@smitheys Жыл бұрын
Yeah, it’s a little different now. You can buy them put together, but you’ll have to pay extra for them to do the crimping for you… not worth it to me, but if you have the extra cash I say go for it.

@smitheys - which wiring for the power and speakers did you use? I have found the other parts for my 2011 RAV4 that have been shown in the video but not sure about the wiring for power and speakers mentioned. 3:15

The orange dimmer wire coming from my new radio has a white line but the orange wire on the wiring harness I purchased is solid orange I was gonna hook them up just wanted to make sure that’s correct

Yeah, you’re good. It’s just the dimmer control.

I have a 2011 RAV4 with the Factory JBL premium system and was wondering if it would be possible to swap out the JBL unit for the Factory Toyota NAV system that was optional on the RAV4’s?

Do you know what part of the wiring powers the aux port behind the gear shifter. I recently installed an aftermarket android radio with a wiring kit and my aux port does not seem to work properly anymore

What’s the auxible audio mean? Trying to figure out my stereo install
@smitheys Жыл бұрын
It’s just anything else you want to add to it. Could be for overhead/headrest monitors , subwoofers, amps, etc. I didn’t use those ports, I just tapped them off so them wouldn’t ground out on anything.

Hey man! How much do you think it would cost for me to pay for a professional to install this? Thanks!
@smitheys Жыл бұрын
Hey Mark! That’s kind of a tricky question because every shop charges different prices and it also depends on what you bring them to install. My advice if you don’t want/don’t feel confident is buy the radio from Best Buy because they usually offer free installs with purchase. If you buy the radio and harnesses, crutchfield has packages for each vehicle to get everything in one shot, then you have to find an installer. Some shops charge anywhere from $80-$200 an hour. Most shops SHOULD get it done in an hour or less. Hope this helps!

Where did you put the microphone in the car?
@smitheys Жыл бұрын
Hey Michael, just go to eBay or Amazon, type in your radio and then microphone. That question is hard to answer because I don’t know what type of radio you have.
@bryanribey Жыл бұрын
@@smitheys He meant where did you install the microphone in the car. I'm guessing you put it on the A pillar?
@smitheys Жыл бұрын
Oh, wow! Yeah you did. Sorry about that, Michael. Thanks Bryan for catching it. I read it quickly and most people ask where I got things, not where I put ‘em. I put my mic right on top of the steering column cover, kinda towards the speedometer. That way it picks up me and it doesn’t pick up any other noise. The A Pillar would be a good option too, but I roll my windows down and the mic would pickup the wind noise up there. The speedometer kinda makes a dome for the mic. Hope that makes sense.
