While it might be argued that Haas misses something of the impressionistic poetry of the last of the waltzes - when she errs in dynamic shading in Ravel, it is usually towards the too loud rather than the too soft - in the second of them she is as touchingly expressive, without the least hint of excessive sentiment or exaggerated rubato, as only she can be. There are luminous moments like that in most of her Ravel interpretations. I'm glad Ravel didn't live through the occupation. I know someone who did. Ghastly. Such a gentle soul, 💕Ravel

Monique Haas & Maurice Ravel: a perfect pairing. Madame Monique, your smile lights up the scene: it is like a window open onto the Beauty of the world and the eternal harmony of music.

Couldn't agree more Tom... have loved her for a long time. She has that touch, can separate every note magically in "Jeux d’eau" for instance; doesn't speed everything up either...aren't we lucky listeners. Peace, Bro.from TX.

Madame Haas, toujours égale à elle-même, *parfaite* d'intériorité, de sensibilité, d'humanité ; des tempi réfléchis ; des nuances, sans exagération... et un sourire tellement sympathique ! :-) Merci pour ce merveilleux partage.

For all my life i thought of Pascal Rogé recordings on this pieces as my favourite and definitive ones. But after hearing Monique Haas playing i think this is the best one. How is this not more famous.

Apres son prix Long Thibault Pascal Roger a immédiatement enregistré les Concertos de St Saens mais je préfère Jean Philippe Collard a P Roge

Yes, she is brilliant--can separate the notes even on "Jeux d'eau". A magical touch following her own interpretations. She seems to pluck out different notes in the chords for emphasis. So refreshing because it isn't like the others, which we've heard for decades. Pascal Roge surely is a genius. His Satie is tops to these old ears, along with Rienbert De Leeuw, Frank Glazer - Mercifully, none of these professionals speed things up like it's a race...

"Right now, there are people all over the world who are just like you. They're either lonely, they're missing somebody, they're depressed, they're hurt, they're scarred from the past, they're having personal issues no one knows about, they have secrets you wouldn't believe. They wish, they dream and they hope. And right now, they are sitting here reading these words, and I'm writing this for you so you don't feel alone anymore. Always remember, don't be depressed about the past, don't worry about the future, and just focus on today. If today's not so great don't worry! Tomorrow's a new chance. If you are reading this, be sure to share this around to make others feel better. Have a nice day!"

Truly magnificent. And fascinating to compare Haas's Ravel with those of another magnificent French pianist, Samson Francois, with his very expressive Ravel interpretations. Two supreme masters of Ravel!!!

Beautiful recording. Many thanks!! I had to turn off the news since it's so so terrible as to what's happening in Afghanistan. Ravel's music is so lovely and relaxing and I'm able to clear my mind a little. Music does absolutely soothe the soul. Thanks you again. Sandra

Музыка Равеля беззаботна, в этом ее очарование, она помогает забыть проблемы и погрузиться в мир счастья, это великолепно чувствует и передаёт в интерпретации Хаас. Душа отдыхает слушая эту запись. Спасибо.

I have only recently got into Ravel, and really love his compositions, I also love Debussy (CD for me) and Fauré. French composers and style are definitely my favourite, Alain. Monique captures that French spirit with elegance in these recordings.
