Superb transcription and performance! When I first heard this, I assumed Gryaznov must be a historical personage, like Busoni transcribing the Bach Chaconne. What a surprise and a pleasure to discover that Gryaznov is alive and well and bringing forth this music at the same time I happen to be alive. Kudos and gratitude beyond measure.

@@BenSadounJeremie of wow 😃 thanks for telling me that. There've been a deep cultural relationship between Russia and France for decades, especially in 19th century. @@VyacheslavGryaznovPiano So you asked me to tell you what I think, here it comes…(I'm going to have to break it apart coz it's too long for comment section) First you can be reassured that audio quality is satisfactory. I hear perfect balance between bass and treble. Every pitch of that Steinway is captured with proper care. By youtube standard this video has provided excellent sound quality, but honestly there’s no way to know exactly what kind of sound capturing system could actually deliver the full brilliance of a pianist of your calibre (this statement is not to flatter you, it’s simply the truth). So.. good job setting up the whole thing, if you did the recording yourself then you’ve hit a home run.
@yungao30773 жыл бұрын
Being able to watch the performer up close is just a rare blessing that doesn’t come by easily. I mean.. you simply don’t get to see the way the left hand dances gracefully across the keyboard while being completely mesmerized by the magic of Mahler (and Gryaznov).. if you’re sitting in a concert hall. Having said that, I’m torn. Modern technology has made everything so accessible that real people are driven out of real places, because they can enjoy top-notch music at the comfort of their own couches

Vyacheslav Gryaznov has created an unforgettable transcription - one more - that brings to Ravel's La Valse a brightness and luminosity that the composer had deliberately hidden behind a complicated writing full of mysteries and surprises. This skillful and inspired deconstruction of the work is a great honor to the original piece. But if this transcription is a feat, it is the interpretation, of a breathtaking beauty and intelligence, that forces even more admiration.The conduct of the sound line, the clarity and sensitivity of the playing, the irreproachable articulation, the crystalline sound, are the mark of an exceptional pianist who goes beyond the virtuosity one expects. Delicate Viennese accents and a romanticism reminiscent of the Russian ballet give the work a magical tone under Gryaznov's fingers. A previous commentary speaks of genius, and for once, the word is perhaps not too strong. What a lesson!
