This was one of the funniest things I've ever watched, I know it wasn't meant to be comedic but this guy's sense of humor is just the best. Having a raven as a pet is " like living with a psychopath " 😂. Crows and ravens hold major grudges. they even teach their kids who to distrust. I've never had a raven that was unkind to me. The worst I had was one that was young (I rescued it from some wild cats) and he found some printer paper and shredded it. I've even had wild ravens outside bring me things in exchange for treats. The outside birds didn't like my ex bf tho..not after they saw him raise his voice to me. They definitely aren't for everyone but I wouldn't call them narcissists.

Thanks for these videos. Have volunteered in corvid rescue and met many corvids who have come in all the worse for humans trying to shape them into the pets they crave. Corvids don't become subdued, they develop severely challenging behaviours and it requires a good grounding in psychology to reinforce positives and give them back their freedom and sociability. Glad to see someone be so candid. You have to love these birds for who they are, the love alone, as you say will never be enough. Thanks again :)

THANK YOU! Thank you for this kind of video. Anytime someone tells me they are interested in a "pet" they have little to no knowledge or experience with, I specifically tell them to look at honest videos that talk about the tough/negative aspects of that species. Not all animals are suitable for all people and not all people are suitable for all animals. I am so glad you have made honest, relatable videos. You slice the fat off the meat of the argument. In my opinion, videos like this one can help save animals from trauma by deterring folks who aren't equipped to and aren't willing to input the time/effort/training/money to learn to care and interact properly with the animal. Even people with the best intentions can get in over their heads by adopting animals that need more challenging care. Thank you and keep up the great advocacy! You are appreciated!

I love this guy, and his message. This needs a "The More You Know" graphic & jingle at the end. I mean, I totally buy his warning. I hope at least a few "no consequence" thinkers stumble onto this before buying their raven, serval, timber wolf, anaconda, whatever.

I love how brutally honest about having Sam as a roommate because as I’m learning more and more you don’t own them they’re not your pet they’re your intelligent friend that has a few issues upstairs but good times make up for the bad and they sure do make for interesting stories of you have to do the extrovert thing occasionally.

I raised a Sun Conure and she just turned 20 years old. The bird potty trained on day one and lived for praise & attention. She also tested me daily. You can't show fear or the bird will dominate at the slightest sign of weakness. Birds can be little feathered demons. Awesome pets, but anyone in the family shows fear and the bird will never let up on that person.

So funny you ssy that , haahaa I guess my Crow and I get along so well because we are both torturers!. ;-) My Nev tortures by witholding affection, just like me.. if I take him out of his comfort zone, bring him in the crate outside for example, he will sulk for a few days afterwards and be cold towards me. Honestly. Then he will fly over , sit by me , tug my hair to wake me and be sweet again ...its like a punishment. They are more switched on than people can realise until they bond with one. You are great to watch. so glad I found you tonight. I can chastise Nev by voice tone , like just now as I'm typing he was banging away on top of his house really loudly on a metal dish...I just dtopoed him by calling his name disapprovingly. He's stopped instantly. Clever boy...now I'll go give him some beef and have a chat. ;-) he likes a song too lol..really!

Peter Caine Dog Training yes its a shame, I can't bear to see even the fish in the bloody tank in the kitchen!! I remember as a small child my mam calling the postman back and talking to him , crying and then giving him my pet Budgie , cage the lot! I understand why she did it of course but at 3/4yrs old I was not happy. Lol.. me and Nev are munching junkfood here , he loves crisps. ( potato chips ye call them) He's clucking away asking for more .. I'd hoped to send Nev back to the wild but it just wasn't possible , he was clueless and none of the local Crows took him in..they were very aggressive towards him and he was hurt each time I released him away from the house....ending up with him knocked into a chimney which almost killed him at 4 and a half months old. I am happy to have him, he's great company.

+fiona cahill P.s. I'm not stuffing him full of crisps by the way ..I only give him two, he eats one half quite daintily..stashes other half then barks for more , its more for the shared interaction

Interesting and useful heads-up! I'm glad you still love him and don't use physical discipline. Corvids are super intelligent and playful, so his actions could be prankishly malicious, or they could be an attempt to communicate something. If I had a bird behaving that way I would be asking the question in my heart, and then expecting the answer to eventually come to me in a quite moment. Thanks for sharing!

That's an old wives tale. ☺ There is no evidence that corvids are attracted to shiny things. The only time I have ever seen a bird peck at eyes is when its being attacked. Yes they may peck at members of there flock but its to establish hierarchy. Its where we get the phrase pecking order.
