I agree with Raven having her "Dark Phoenix" arc. A few days ago, I was researching about the Amalgam Universe, and I thought it would be a neat idea to fuse Raven with Jean Gray due to their power set and The Phoenix. As I was watching this video, I remembered a myth (not sure about the mythology it originated from, sorry) about crows being originally rainbow-colored, but by bringing fire to Earth, their feathers were covered in soot, making them completely black, although the rainbow feathers could still be observed if looked closely. Maybe they could use this myth as inspiration for this arc, perhaps even linking Raven to the Emotional Spectrum due to her being an empath (and becoming white at her most powerful moments).

I actually really like your hot take. It almost gives me Symbiote Spider-Man vibes. Maybe this new force allows Raven to tap into her full power and emotion without the risk of unleashing trigon? And after being so emotionally repressed for so long, letting it all out feels really good to her, so good that once she’s finished the mission that she needed the power up for she can’t bring herself to take it off and all of her pent-up rage and aggression begins to have serious negative consequences. I don’t no if Raven has a rule against killing, but she’s generally the hero that doesn’t do that, but maybe now she’s getting to the point where she would consider killing even a lonely mugger and the Titans or the Justice league have to pull her back to the light.

for me its a big YES for a Zatanna + Raven combo (and we can even see the interections they could have had about their father and how it work very differently, one hate her father and the other miss hers), I coultd totaly see her on the justice league dark team or the classic league (well I think Zatanna would hve the magic role first but why not) also a black label for each of the 2 would be asome.

Yes to everything, I’d just let Beast Boy join Justice League dark too, especially now that his connection to the Red is becoming more prevalent in his stories. Swamp thing, Beast Boy, Mera, one of the hawks kinda interesting set up for a storyline for Justice League Dark. Grundy or a revived character could represent the grey/rot.

Elseworld shit is sometimes better then canon shit. Honestly zatanna would be the perfect mentor/mother figure for raven. Why hasn’t DC done this before?! Hell give us an animated show of something like that in a similar way to the Harley Quinn show and maybe have Tara strong voice her again as an added bonus.

Most of all I agree with the take about restoring the empath part of her character. Personally I wouldn't want her on the justice league but a spot on the justice league dark team is something i always thought of. My ideal line up would include both the big names and some more obscure picks which would consist of Constantine, Zatanna, Raven, Andrew Bennet, Azrael and last spot either The Spectre if they can depower him to a good level or Etrigan. If you ever do a video on your JLD line up it'd be cool if you gave your quick analysis on this type of line up. Because I feel that these team books are a good way to give spotlight to the characters who have been absent from the readers eyes for some time. Also the Zatanna/Raven team up with them being mentor and apprentice is a really cool one.

Unpopular Opinion of my own: I don't like her with beast boy. I've never liked this pairing, something about it just feels...off. I get the raven and damian one, but I don't like that pairing either. I'm a big believer that relationships should have a fair amount of compatibility and I don't really get that with Rachel and Garfield. I know it's been in the comics, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. I'd much rather have her be with someone who, at least, walks in similar circles that she does/has been through similar experiences.

Pre-Crisis they were actually setting her up with Joey Wilson. That pairing makes far more sense to me. Also the BBRae pair didn't really happen until fanshippers insisted it on the cartoon...and then it integrated...ah no. Raven and Jericho make a much more compatible pair.

My (Late) "hot take" is along the lines of making her lean more into her empathic side. Having recently read her original run in the NTT, I've really started to loathe the way she has been handled afterwards. I think DOWN scaling her powers makes for a MUCH more interesting character. Having a more tactile feel to her plotlines, and her nature as a secluded healer. Raven wasn't necessarily inclined towards 'magic' in the original run, and I'm not sure how I feel about that being incorporated into her skillset. I think the combination of a certain level of edginess, without the world warping powers, and ungodly strength not only takes away some potential plot holes, but makes her a more interesting character to follow. It's a challenge for the writers that has the potential to not only revitalize her character, but also the nature of what a super hero story can be. We need flower child Raven back, and all of the moral dilemmas she carried that seemed to contradict her very nature.

She's easily in my top 10 favourite DC characters ever. I personally think, in the grand scheme of things, she is not used enough. Here you have this powerful magic user, arguably the most powerful Teen Titans member, and yet I see very little of her being used. Maybe Raven as the leader of the Teen Titans or Justice League Dark would suit her well. There also needs to be better writing in her stories. The Teen Titans cartoon captured this very well with an entire season dedicated to her arc. Episodes that all portrayed a sense of fear, anger, obsession, release, belonging. Raven could become so much more yet what she is currently just isn't it in the comics.

My unpopular opinion is Raven shouldn't be with Beast Boy or Damian or anyone really. I just wish she'd be single again. I don't really like BBRae or DamiRae and to me it feels like Raven's writing suffers every time she's paired up with a guy. I think she should just be her own woman the way she used to be in older comics. Also, bring back her long black hair, it looks so much better than purple.

Just like I said in the Beast Boy Unpopular Options video, Raven is one of my favorite characters in all of DC Comics. She definitely is in my top 5. I like your unpopular opinion. And I agree about Raven having her Dark Phoenix arc. I would definitely read something like that. I also agree it's time to have her join either the JL or JLD. Maybe she could work with both from time to time? As for Raven's love interests; I've said I'm team Raven/Beast Boy. And that I am. But I have to agree her relationship with Damien in the animated movies was well handled and developed. I bought it. However, I only see that relationship working in that specific setting and universe. And only till a certain point in their lives. I really don't see them staying together beyond their teens. I just don't feel it. Raven as a sidekick is something that, for some reason, I can't see or take seriously. Really, I don't know why. Maybe it's because I fail to see her as someone who still needs guidance in regards to her power and abilities. But whatever it is, I can't take the idea of Raven as a sidekick seriously. She couple partner up with other magic users, sure; but not necessarily as an underling, sort of. Nice video though, I really enjoyed it.

Maybe have her be a Supergirl style aid where she's not a sidekick, but more of an independent partner who uses a diverse moniker? I mean she was mentioned as being inspired by the Phantom Stranger (colors, face in shadow) so why not have her act as the Kara/Babs equivalent for him since Kara and Babs aren't necessarily sidekicks, despite them using names that seem sidekick-ish.

Hellfire Manipulation? I didn't know about that one. Makes sense though because, you know, demon. Also didn't know about the electrokinesis. "I think the two characters [Raven and Zatanna] would simply get along together in the first place." Didn't Raven help create the Teen Titans at least in part because Zatanna made sure the league didn't accept her? Regarding your "Phoenix" storyline idea, why does it even have to be a separate power and not her own inner demons becoming a bit stronger for whatever reason?

I really loved Raven's relationship with Damian. That universe and those movies really did a great job with their connection and compatibility. I think he would help her build more confidence in herself and also teach her better fighting skills, and she'd help him with his patience and inner emotional turmoil he seems to constantly be in. I can see them having similar interests in hobbies and tastes in food and music, based on things I've read and seen from both characters. I understand why some people don't like it because they have mainly one idea of Raven in their heads and it's either NTT or 2003 cartoon, where she's still Dicks age. But she was resurrected as a teen in 2004 and hasn't been Dicks age for almost two decades until very recently. The current timeline of main canon DC is a mess, because one minute Raven was 15 and then after Death Metal she's early 20s (no one will confirm her age anymore, I've even asked her writers and that's all I could get). She's been a teen in almost everything she's been in, even outside of comics. So again, I get why some people don't like it, but there is nothing wrong with Damian and Raven in the DCAMU. It's a multiverse for a reason, so you can take these same characters and tell different stories for them. For me, I thank God not everything has to always be the same. Plus in the movies, Damian grew so much as a character by the end of that universe, he became one of my favorite characters because of those movies. Before dcamu I never really cared about his character. But I think those two were beautiful together, they work. They are so alike in some ways and so different in others. I never liked the BB relationship though, but I can understand why people do. It's just different tastes/perspectives/opinions.

Also, I've said for so long she needs a black label comic. Horror is such a popular genre, and her being half demon, they could lean so much into the horror aspects in ways they never have before. Also, another thing the DCAMU gave us was a fatherly relationship with Superman and what a potential team up with Constantine might look like. Can you imagine Constantine finding her as a teen or even a child and "adopting" her as a reluctant protege. That's entertainment all in itself, add hellscapes to that and it seems like potential easy money. Can you imagine their personalities clashing? It would be hilarious.

But people will argue about her age as if she's always depicted as an adult and that's just not true. And it's not true in the animated universe either, so constantly bringing up her age seems a bit silly 'to me' . In my second statement I wasn't even suggesting that for main canon, it was just a fun suggestion as an alt black label.

My issue with raven/damian is that i see her as a contemporary of nightwing. And it feels like cradle robbing when i see her and damian. Now mind, i understand that in those versions she is younger, however, you lose so much of her dynamics with nightwing and such when you do that.

8:50 I just finished watching all of Teen Titans and Raven and Beast Boy never showed any interest for each other so I don't get the nostalgic part of your reason. It was only Robin x Starfire, Beast Boy x Terra, and Jinx x Kid Flash. Raven and Cyborg never showed interest in anyone.

Cyborg had what looked to be a white Sarah Sims (unnamed) show up during season 3 and he was also shown to maybe have a thing for Bumblebee, but Bumblebee's already with Herald so.... With BBRae- yeah even the show runners didn't want to do that...that was the original fan forced Starco that popped up in mainstream comics around the same time. If Raven were to date within the team? Joey Wilson. Pre-Crisis comics hinted at him being the guy and returning the feeling about her being the girl...so if he ever had a season Jericho and Raven would be the couple as a subplot to the whole "Slade thinks teen heroes are hacks and I want a Revenge Grant" thing.

I think that DC comics should treat her almost like Dr. fate. I mean she’s one of the most powerful beings in the universe and they treat her like a shy kid. I mean I know that that’s a personality, but she isn’t human but yet she acts like a human. She should be distanced from The Teen Titans. She should be one of those characters that only shows up once in a while because of how powerful she is.

I like the character, but only seen a little of her story. Mainly from watching the Titan's series and like here there. Great power, great back story and I wished they had a spinoff or a few more solo episodes. But..... I really liked her in the Teen Titans cartoon on YTV. I think Raven was done perfectly in the Teen Titans cartoon and we don't need any more. She had her arc and her relationship. Idk what else interesting they could do with her. So often I just see the same stuff done again but worse with characters, and I don't want that happening to her. I liked her a lot in the show... she's probably my 2nd favorite (Terra really stole my heart quickly)... but like, what else can be done? Mentioning other relationships... depending on her age, I could see more or less a fling with Constantine working in an alternate really where the age gap isn't so massive. Not that I think John has any moral objections 😒 But with how much everyone else hates Batman X Batgirl hooking up, even though there's an interview from Bruce Timm where the ENTIRE POINT, right down to the sound in the scene is to indicate it's a mistake... you know, like people make... I don't think Constantine should get with someone half his age. I was really bothered by the implied relationship between Deathstroke and Terra in the Judas Contract movie... but also I kinda think that's a good thing since it shows how bad Deathstroke can be? But that just kinda goes back to how I think that was done so much better in the cartoon. Where that implied relationship with a literal teenager, a MINOR I believe... wasn't necessary. (Idk maybe she was actually 18/19 in The Judas Contract and it just gave me the extra ick because of the cartoon where she was like 15-16?)

It feels like they created the Titans\Teen Titans distinction because so many of the original Titans are no longer teenagers. Like Rose Wilson made a joke back in the Teen Titans 2003 series about how the Teen Titans have too many adult members who cannot be called teens by any stretch of the term. At this rate the Titans should call themselves the Mighty Mortgage-Payers.

Don’t know if this is unpopular but I really hate how she keeps being aged down in DC (along with some of the other characters). It doesn’t really feel organic with the characters who’ve stayed the same age (eg. Starfire and Nightwing) because both those characters are important in her development. Especially in a dark Phoenix type storyline which I’d love to see. I think Damien’s Robin is way too young for her. Even if they were the same age in some universe. Just because they have similar backgrounds with parental issues doesn’t necessarily create good character chemistry. It’s quite a stale relationship because they have nothing to really offer each other in terms of beneficial differences or growth. So I’d rather she be alone or maybe with Beast boy because they could at least challenge each other’s outlooks on life and can help each other grow into better more rounded and mature characters (not just the dark goth girl or the funny guy archetypes). Overall I think comics can be pretty bad at writing relationships. But that’s just my opinion.
