Grant Morrison's Final Crisis is the best New god/Darkseid story in my opinion, but the story to so deep, weird and complex that I don't think most DC fans would even understand, it goes deep into platonic and higher dimensional concepts.

I think DC should make a series about the New Gods, especially Highfather, Orion, Mister Miracle, Big Barda, Lightray, Bekka, and the Forever People and their interactions with Darkseid. The show could give the New Gods a chance to develop and set up just how terrifying Darkseid is, with the New Genesis Gods trying to contact the Justice League and the Green Lantern Corps for help in the fight against Darkseid. I'd have a story where the Forever People and Orion are out on a mission to collect a component for a transmitter that can send an encrypted message to Earth, only for them to encounter Darkseid. The Forever People want to help, but they know they can't fight him and run off, Orion has his "Hello, Father" moment where Darkseid kicks his ass, only for Orion to get one very lucky surprise hit on him, and then get away through pure luck.

In my DCU, I do have a movie idea similar to Apokolips War, but it's titled Justice League: Darkseid War. The movie has some horror elements to it, like Darkseid literally cutting Aquaman in half with his Omega Beams. In the end, most of the heroes do not survive, and Tyrell, my Justice League roster was in its "Unlimited" era. About 50 Leaguers went to Apokolips to confront Darkseid. But only seven survived: Clark, Bruce, Diana, Hal, Barry, Mera and Victor. Darkseid decided to take the seven surviving heroes and torment them, by brainwashing Bruce, turning Diana into a cybernetic Wonder Woman, and then going to Oa and forcing Hal to watch as the entire Green Lantern Corps is killed and the battery is destroyed. There is a time jump, five years into the future, where Superman has a Kryptonite tattoo on his chest, Hal is a drunken man, and Damian Wayne is the leader of the League of Assassins and the new Ra's Al Ghūl. The film focuses on the survivors as they work to finally take Darkseid down for good. And it ends with Wally running back in time and creating another Flashpoint.

Darkseid could just be a product of a highly violent & competitive environment. What if Apokolypse is his birth planet, his species was formed in such a harsh environment, and they built a violent culture to compete for scarce resources, to choose the strongest as their leader, & for entertainment. The Gladiator Arena from War World Hulk, but tougher. He was BUILT for that, he became its leader by merit, and his ambition drove him to spread his national superiority over all other civilizations (like Hitler, but cool). Once could reason the origin of his psychology, but its hard to victimize him because their species is proud of who they are. That way he can stay an evil for evil’s sake villain, but with an interesting origin.

It's a shame Darkseid was used/planned to be used in the Snyderverse, because this makes his appearance in the DCU a bit unlikely or at least not in the first few chapters. I just think he should be buildt up to like in the DCAU. Maybe Superman meets him first, then the rest of the new gods and then they can start building a Final Crisis type event

A backstory or even a small part of a movie would be perfect for Darkseid. Marvel did a great job with Thanos and you can kind of see why he was mass murdering billions of people. You kind of almost agreed with him..... alamost. Don't know if I wanted to be snapped and come back after the blip or survived the snapped originally. Which one is worse. Darkseid's motivation for conquest should be for "unity" or his definition of unity. After Uxas turns to darkseid and high father being turned to a god, they both father children and lead planets in an endless war. new genesis vs apocalypse for centuries. Never ending war until darkseid learns of anti life. Then he does the 1st born son trade with high father and then focuses on anti life while high father (for the good of new genesis) sacrifices his son for much desired peace after years of war. Darkseid Conquers planets after planet in search of anti life. Each time he does they join him and "unite" thus validating his thought process as there is no more war. His thought process is that conflict is inevitable. As long as there are 2 ideals/beliefs, war is inevitable. The only way to stop this cycle is "unity" under anti life with him, of course, being the one to dictate the "correct" belief. He is wagering war against the universe to stop any future war permanently with himself as the sole ruler. The last war to end wars Flawed logic but an understandable one.

I know i'm arriving late with the hot take but i think Darkseid should be portrayed ONLY as a Justice League threat and no more as a Superman one. Jack Kirby intended Darkseid as THE purest manifestation of wickedness, the fact that he appeared on the pages of Superman's pal Jimmy Olsen was simply due to contractual obligation: when Kirby left Marvel and went to DC they proposed to Kirby to work on 3 original projects where he would have had complete control BUT in return he had to work on the least sold DC title (that at the time was Superman's pal Jimmy Olsen) and Kirby accepted. Kirby basically used the Jimmy title as a Trojan horse for his REAL ideas. Since DC nowadays can't even use the New Gods properly if Darkseid needs to be put against someone i would say that only the entire league could stand a chance. I'm ok with Superman fighting Darkseid IN A JUSTICE LEAGUE COMIC where all the others are doing something but not Darkseid being an actual Superman villain. I get it that he wants Superman to be subdued to him and make him a good soldier for his army but the fact is that Darkseid simply sees Superman as useful for his plans and nothing more, if Darkseid sees another member of the League as useful he would behave with that member EXACTLY as he behaves with Superman. And beside Superman has another villain that covers that spot in the Superman's rogue's gallery: Mongul. I don't understand how people are ok with having both Darkseid and Mongul in Superman's rogue's gallery when they basically fill the same spot: intergalactic tyrant that is feared in the entire universe. Let Mongul be the menace Superman can take down by himself while for Darkseid all the league is required
@UnifiedEntity2 ай бұрын
Nah if Darkseid is the manifestation of wickedness, who better to be a thorn in his side than Superman. Batman have people in his rogues gallery that function as the same to one another. So why not Superman. And unlike others in the league Superman from an ideal standpoint is also his physical foil, in some adaptations to the point where he could be even or 1/10 his strength and feel insulted yet curious about Superman and either break him or make him his own. People complain Superman is hardly challenged, who better than Darkseid.
@niccoloproia36782 ай бұрын
@@UnifiedEntity Precisely for the fact that Darkseid is seen as THE ultimate form of evil in the DC universe why not using him as an only JLA's threat since they are THE ultimate form of good that stands up against the greatest menaces that DC can offer? As for the physical challenge Darkseid stands superior to Superman, it is true that not all JLA's villains are phisically stronger than the single members of the group (like Dr.Destiny for example) but Darkseid is simply on another level, to the point that extremely powerful beings like the Female Furies or Desaad fear him. Most of the people that complain that Superman is hardly challenged haven't read a lot of Superman comics and making Darkseid a Superman villain would just make the situation worse cause those same people would say "Look, they had to make Darkseid, the manifestation of wickedness, the most powerful villain in DC a Superman villain in order to challenge him, Superman is too OP". Moreover the problem with Mongul remains, what's the point of having Mongul when you have Darkseid in your rogue's gallery? Especially when (specifically against Superman) Mongul works so much better than Darkseid
@UnifiedEntity2 ай бұрын
@@niccoloproia3678 Darkseid is more than just a team up villain. The various comic book storylines where they clash as well as animated series moments shows that's where a lot of Darkseid popularity comes from. His methods of madness, conviction, conversations with Superman highlight his character. Not just some heroes banding together to beat him up. And it's comics, there are plenty of times Superman has beaten Darkseid one on one, sometimes stalemated, sometimes lost, but regardless, its a match up everyone wants because Darkseid has intrigued/distain for Superman and Superman boldly stands against everything Darkseid is and represents despite how powerful he is. One sees himself as a God, one sees himself as human who isn't above anyone else. As a Justice League villain, you don't get that. It also makes it a big deal when he and Superman personally have to work together albeit begrudgingly. There's a panel when Superman rushes Darkseid, gets smacked away and held down by the league.....what does that tell you? There's more history between the two than Darkseid and the entire league. Even when he captures Superman, he sees him as an invaluable prize. Also, whats the point of Half of the villains in anyone's gallery when there's a clear stronger threat. What's the point of Joker, when there's Bane? What's the point of 99% of Flashes Villains when there's Reverse Flash? What's the point of Mongol when you have Brainiac, Doomsday, Imperiax, Mxy, Bizarro, General Zod, etc? The point, they all have different personalities, goals, and methods that challenge the heroes in different ways. Plus he appeared in a Supermans characters comic.
@niccoloproia36782 ай бұрын
@@UnifiedEntity As i said in the main comment if i could assign Darkseid to a specific rogue's gallery that would be the New Gods. Most of Darkseid's popularity comes from Jack Kirby's Fourth World as for the animated highlights and conversations with Superman you're talking about are all in the 2 JLA animated series set in the Timmverse. For the levels of powers' differences that unfortunately comes a lot from the writers' lack of consistency and editorial management but generally speaking Darkseid is way above Superman from a physical point of view. Darkseid sees Superman as a potential useful tool but he applies that to anyone he believes could be a good pawn in his army, from a logical point of view Darkseid should view Martian Manhunter in the same way of Superman, Flash's speed force is a motive of intrigue as well and Wonder Woman has proved many times to be superior to any single member of the Female Furies, Darkseid should view her as the perfect candidate to lead the Furies under his command. So not only it's utterly false that you don't get that same relationship between Darkseid and other heroes beside Superman but having Darkseid as a JLA's villain gives you the possibility to mantain the relationship with Superman and analyze the relationships between Darkseid and the other heroes. The panel tells me exactly that Superman can't beat Darkseid alone but he needs the support of the whole league. There's not a single member of the league that can go up against Darkseid alone (except Batman when written badly) therefore the whole group has to stand up against the tyrant. As for the history point that's false as well, i explained in the original comment why Darkseid appeared for the first time in a Superman related comic and beside that most of Darkseid's stories in comics are against the whole squad than just Superman (like the animated movie Justice League War that is an adaptation of Geoff Johns' Justice League Origin). You don't get the point about Mongul which i expressed clearly in the original comment. Bane and Joker are completely different characters with different powers, types of intelligence, personalities etc., i could apply the same with Reverse Flash and Abra Kadabra or Brainiac and Bizarro. It doesn't matter that Bane is stronger than Joker cause Joker challenges Batman in a completely different way than Bane and the same could be applied to all the examples you made. Mongul and Darkseid instead ARE THE SAME CHARACTER with a little difference in power level and relationship with Superman. They are both intergalactic tyrants that rule over their respective worlds with an iron fist and swarms of faithful minions. Jim Starlin created Thanos based on Kirby's Darkseid and Mongul was created as a tribute to Marvel's Thanos. So Darkseid and Mongul (even from a real world perspective) are the same villain that offers Superman the same challenge. The main difference is while Mongul is effectively a Superman's villain and "For the man who has everything" is still considered one of Superman's best stories ever Darkseid doesn't have any major known comic book story against Superman alone but ALWAYS in some JLA projects.
@UnifiedEntity2 ай бұрын
@@niccoloproia3678 Everything you stated i already iterated to you. Despite most of Batmans villains being psychopaths they serve Batman in different ways. Darkseid and Mongul are different. Darkseid wants control but Mongul who literally has the name of a warmongers of history relishes in combat, to the point he has a literal world for contest of strength. That isnt Darkseid. Doesnt matter if Mongul was created as a node to Thanos because with your logic, even with the strength difference WHICH YOU YOURSELF said doesnt matter since not every Justice league villain is even on the level of Superman, or Wonderwoman, there was virtually no point in having Mongul around fighting not only Superman but Justice League, Green Lanterns, Legion of Superheroes, when you have Darkseid. And yes i Know its from the animated universe, thats why I state it. Not only is the DC animated universe of the early 2000s beloved but it was the best showcase of multiple characters and that includes Darkseid with his relation to Superman. Further more again, Superman has been shown pre new 52 to be more prone to hostility for Darkseid more than any member.

Also a thought i had about Darkseids motive, (even though I like him just being pure evil) is what if he seeks the Anti Life Equation to end war across the universe because he grew up as a pawn for the New Gods and has seen what war does to a planet. I think it would be interesting in a Peacemaker kinda way where he desperately wants peace but what he does in order to get it is just as bad if not worse than the thing he's trying to stop.
