I'm planning a HUGE 30th birthday party. Planning a party this big can be expensive but with a bit of planning, it can still be a lot of fun! In this video, I've decided on my theme -- it's Great Gatsby Roaring Twenties -- and I'm picking the venue, choosing my menu and starting to work on entertainment, my decor, and my outfits.

Hi Raven, I love your page. I have been following you for some time, now. I understand that you need a Jazz Band that plays modern style music. May I make a suggestion? I understand that UTA has a Jazz Department on campus. You might want to look there for Jazz musicians or go to the main office of the Jazz Department and ask them to make referrals of students,(the students or either already playing with a band or can put a jazz band together for you), or you could make a flyer requesting an audition of some Jazz bands. ON the flyer, you should leave your request or what you are auditioning the Bands for, your contact information and other information regarding the party. As for the price of payment for the band, it is probably easier to ask a musician on the scene, there in Austin for the average payment of a Band for the evening. I know that this is unsolicited advice but I hope that you will find it helpful.

Hi Raven! I’m so excited for your 30th birthday party. I have hosted quite a few events over the years. Nearly every venue required a food and beverage minimum. I don’t know if Chef Toni or the concierge mentioned this. One way to finalize your menu would be to have a Tasting of the items that you are considering for your party. At the last major event, I invited a few other people to sample the items as well. That process helped tremendously in choosing the menu items. Just a thought!

I’m in a cover band, and bands def don’t play the whole time. It’s nearly impossible. Lol But you wouldn’t have to have a separate DJ… The bandleader could just have a playlist of theme appropriate songs they play in between sets (phone hook up) Man I wish my band could play your party! We are so good! (But we live in Lubbock) I do recommend Emerald City band! They are amazing .
