The actual good route would be them replicating the animosity between the Samurai and Chinese that existed irl, imagine a season based on the Imjin War.......but, that's not the easy route, so Ubisoft would never ever dream of adding nuance to the factions at this point like that. Just more random Outlanders is the best we'll get for some reason.

OMG! This has got to be the best idea that anyone has ever had about For Honor and Wu Lin. As a Nuxia main and someone who loves the Wu Lin, I loved all of your ideas. I think we can even add a Mongolian hero to the Wu Lin as Gao Lei could maybe use Mongolian warriors as mercenaries to bolster his ranks. I kinda want the Devs to add the Wu Lin to the Faction War. The Faction War was one of the main aspects of For Honor when it first came out, but now it makes no sense at all, it's not just a constant "Vikings Win" spam message at this point. I think they should add the Wu Lin as a playable faction, give them an emblem (maybe an octagon), and add them on the right side of the map (there would probably have to be some map alterations to fit them in though). I'm working on a forum post detailing my thoughts on how they could be added to the Faction War as well as introducing a system of casual and competitive play. For the casual and competitive play part, I was thinking that in competitive play you could only use the factions you fight for's warriors (as well as the Outlanders); for example, I fight for the Knights, and in competitive play, I could only use Knight and Outlander warriors and from competitive play is the only way I'd be able to add soldiers to the Faction War. In casual play, I could use any warrior, but I wouldn't be able to add any soldiers to the Faction War. I don't know how For Honor assesses your "skill level", but matchmaking for casual would be any skill level, and for competitive you'd receive a rank (like you do in Ranked Duels) that represent your skill level.

Honestly the fact we haven't gotten a Lu Bu style character (would be right up the current FH teams Horkos boner alley since Lu Bu was a traitorous person and a tyrant in his time) with a Crescent Halberd or a Yuan Shao character with a Jian and Chinese shield. I got the Marching Fire expansion a month back. The Wu Lin are an amazing concept even if I'm pretty bad with them. Hopefully this season will breath new life into them. Maybe a new map for them with hints to new heroes through weapons hung on walls or statues that could hint at a cool concept.

I love the Wu Lin! I started playing For Honor because of Marching Fire, I have mained the Wu Lin faction since they came out and have my only rep 70 (Zhanhu) in their faction. It's long over due to have them be a join able faction and to get a couple new heros for them. All i want for them is an assassin who uses the whip-chain, a hybrid who uses a spear and vanguard with a Jian. The Wu Lin have so much potential for awsoem weapons, armor and move sets

I remember around marching fire that Ubi said the Wu-Lin were supposed to get a spot on the map sometime after their release. When MF hit and I looked up each hero story and learned it was less an invasion and more a refugee spillover. Male Tiandi was a prince who exiled themselves after killing his brothers in a bid for the throne resulted in his home being ravaged. (No word of him) Female Tiandi was a bodyguard to a queen who was pinned for the queens assassination (though at one point she was at Qiang pass during the Zhanhu gambit where she likely earned a pardon. She was also the Wu-lin voice in Wyverndale, and died during the Warmonger takeover) Nuxia was a bodyguard under the guise of a harmless dancer, who was betrayed by what the local governor thought was an ally who opened the gates for the invading army. After killing the traitor she stole some basic soldier gear and fled retribution. (She was the one leading the Wu-lin resistance and the one who brought holden back to us) Shaolin is the last survivor of his monastery, all others put to the sword while he luckily got away during an earthquake. (No word of him since) And Jiang Jun is THE Guan Yu. Being the greatest warrior in China, he left looking for a place he could make his swan song. (Seemingly pro-chimera and may have met holden at one point. But otherwise nothing) Then It's the time for the Wu-lin harbinger. Loads of Wu-lin warriors were already causing trouble across the lands, they just needed a true leader and a standing army... then we learn during Zhanhu's Gambit that Sun Da nuked them all in an effort to save Gao Lei from the blackstones... blackstones that we later find out weren't here for Gao Lei but Sun Da's research on cough rocks. Alright it's Y5S4, the Knights got 2 hero's back to back and the Samurai got 1. This season is very clearly Chinese and the Wu-lin are in a rough enough spot from the Nuke and Warmonger takeover that hiring pirates wouldn't be out of left field... Then they decided to consider themselves outlanders, and in Order's we learn that they denied an offer from Gao Lei to fight on his behalf as that goes against their freedom goals (remember, the pirates are basically just Horkos enforcers now). While it's nice to finally see what they should look like. It just reminds me of what Ubi should have been able to do with them. Heck by Warmongers release we get a better idea on how scary the Wu-lin should be. Nuxia's t4 is the same corruption power that Warmonger uses. The power that brought down Heathmoore, and the Wu-lin were producing an airborne varient that allowed some distance between user and victim. Sakura's (female Hitokiri) slaughter of Kaiden was an attempt at similar execution but with a very different outcome. And Sun Da made a Nuke out of the stuff that even gave strength to some recipients (though sadly only the blackstones benifited from it) Sorry for the long messy ramble. I fell in love with the Wu-lin and I wish Ubi could do more with the power that the Wu-lin have at their fingertips. Oh and if Nuxia had to steal basic infantry gear to flee, why do the minions not resemble her gear more?

I just remembered. Draconite starts as the good red stuff and has turned to the cough rocks. So the Wu-lin probably had at least a simple understanding of the red stuff that helps people. Jiang Jun's t1 and t3 are mists that empower/heal allies based on how many enemies are nearby. They could have been early models of more raw Draconite usage. Before being made into cough rocks or refined into the stuff holden uses. It's 1 a.m., and I've been awake since 6:30 a.m. I should sleep instead of overthinking this. Still no understanding of how Shaolin does that. He's just Wukong at this point.

I would love to see the Wu-Lin get an expansion in both its warriors and its lore. It would be easy to explain away their absence prior to now: after their initial invasion of Heathmoor was blunted, disgruntled warlords in China rose up against the emperor, thinking him weak and vulnerable, forcing the Wu-Lin to send most of their forces back to the homeland, leaving just enough warriors and resources to hold their fortresses and invasion corridor into Heathmoor until the rebellion was put down. Now the emperor is turning his eyes back on Heathmoor and its resources, creating a existential crisis for the Knights, Samurai, and the Vikings as well as the Outlanders and the empires they represent. As you pointed out, do they potentially ally themselves with the Wu-Lin against their ancient enemies or do they unite against a greater, common threat? It would be an interesting twist in the lore, and fulfill the potential the Wu-Lin represented when they first were introduced.

This is somethng ive been saying for awhile. The Wu-Lin have just been completely forgotten. Theres so much untapped potential, its been like 5 to 6 years now since the Wu-Lin released and we only got TWO Wu-Lin themed maps (Cheng Pass, The Belvedere), they aren't even apart of the Faction War yet IF they ever do finally get added to the Faction War anyway, Theres so many amazing heroes they could make with the Wu-Lin with the weapons you suggested. It would fill a role the Wu Lin need of a study heavy character (JJ really doesn't act like a heavy at all despite being labeled one). The Jian sword paired with Chinese styled shields, could make him based on Yuan Shao as well to go the extra mile of directly putting a real historical figure in the game like they did with Jiang Jung. Or Lu Bu with a Crescent Halberd. So many weapons and ideas yet I fear we'll just never see them realised since Ubisoft blatantly doesn't care about the Wu Lin and treat them like an after thought just like the Samurai.

@joesunday199 Just off the top of my head, 3 potential heroes: - A Vanguard class based entirely off of the idea of the average Japanese foot soldier that is missing from the Samurai even though it is literally THE thing thay defined their warfare at their peak, the Ashigaru that uses extensive use of gunpowder, such as a tier 2 that is a Matchlock (Pirate pulls a cannon out of her ass ffs this is more than fine) with a tier 4 being a blackpowder grenade to showcase the Samurai adoption of Western arms and gunpowder, with his main weapon being the humble Yari spear of course and he would be the only Vanguard class hero that has a fullblock defensive stance that uses the reach of the Yari depending on input and reaction time to crushing counter which would feed into their defensive nature as they had in resl history and showcase it, but would have limited moveset to counter his defensive power. - A Sōhei Buddhist warrior monk assaassain character that uses a Naginata, with his stuff being more healing based to fill that much needed role the Samurai need of a healing and support character but also him being very dodge heavy using his stick to do kicks/bashes and using the Naginata shaft to move around. More fantasy based, but I think it fits given its a warrior monk. - And finally, but certainly not least, a new Vanguard class that represents the modern Samurai where he used Nanban style armor with a Tachi styled Katana that has much more a curved blade that became popular in the Western provinces during the Warring States period. He would basically be cut and dry the basic bitch of these 3, but he'd have special in chain moves that use his sheath for his Katana to bash people with and he'd be more focused on defensive play as well with having crushing counters. His feats would just be basic stuff Samurai already have, since he would be the modern Samurai hero over the Kensei and whatever the hell weeb fantasy Orochi is. Those are just the three off the top of my head, could use some work but hey, it all fits and adds something different that the Samurai need imo that also shows their culture and history. Something quite frankly new heroes just don't do anymore.

Meteor warriors are a great idea, and if Ubi was sensible, they would check the _"Water Margin"_ (the inspiration behind _Suikoden)_ for additional Wu Lin heroes. The _Jian_ heroes are also good idea. You can name these heroes _Wu Dang,_ or better yet, _E'mei,_ if you are to incorporate _E'mei Jian_ swordplay in these heroes. But, my favorite idea is still the same. Imagine the scenario where the Chimera and Horkos managed to drive the Wu Lin to retreat behind Chang Pass, but before the two factions managed to siege the fortress, Gao Wei unleashed his Ultimate Warrior... A singularly massive warrior, rode out from the pass on a crimson warhorse. He was bedecked in heavy plate armor, and crowned in a long twin-feathered crown- both are badges for his peerless might. In his hand, a mighty halberd of Wu Lin's distinct design, a promise of violent death upon his foes. _The Undying, The Flying One, Sky-Piercer,_ his many names whispered in hushed gossips and tall tales, but none could ever verify their truth. ...Not until this day, that was- for this day, The Emperor had tasked the mighty *_Feng Xian_* to let no one to take another step into the Pass. This particular hero idea kinda enhances the image of Gao Wei as a tyrant, doesn't it? P.S: The _Jiangshi_ event is also a good idea. Release it on the Chinese _Festival of Hungry Ghosts,_ and you can sell _Zhong Kui_ skins for Wu Lin heroes on that event!

I would make it so that chimera would be the instigating party in this scenario in a botched treaty against the remaining Iron legion and the remainders to Gao Lei, of witch Gao Lao reveals two new units that in a similar manner to Gryphon are experienced traveling warriors that use a Jian and hooked buckler to fight, but in a different scenario in comparison to “the hero skin bad” the hero skin is the leader of this peaceful expedition who is Wu Lin themselves and fights for chimera. That way we can ignore the “one culture oppress the other” shtick and have them fight each other for different ideals. As well as showing Gao to not be the same man after losing the Draconite weapon

I compleetly agree with you and your story idea is flawless to me. One thing I want to point out you showed melon hammers for the first hero though not meteorhammers. Meteorhammers are bassicly heavy hardcore chainwhips with massive weights on them. Melon hammers are those maces with the massive heads. I still agree though a hero using 2 meteorhammers or melon hammers could be insanly cool. I also want add to your point the chinees had a type of spear with branches coverd in smalle blades sticking out the sides. They were used against japanees invaders/pirates and those could also be a really cool weapons for a new hero. It bassicly kind of looks like someon wielding a deadly christmass tree.

I definitely was on the hate Bandwagon when the wu lin was brought into the game. But recently I have loved playing them, mostly shaolin, and I for one would love to see a new wu Lin hero and all the lore we could get from them is endless. I think we need a break from the outlanders although I love all 4 we have gotten. I would love to see a new viking or wu Lin of course. Also I just want to mention Raven that your story telling is amazing and a lot of your ideas I think would make the game a lot better. Wish you were the lore master instead of that donut on the team 😂

We've gotten to a point that they are literally wiping culture from heros they add when it has history they don't like just to make them victims for their dumb ass Horkos boogeyman. It shows they don't care a genuine lick about the state of the game, the repercussions to what they do with either the story and heroes they add, and most importantly shows a blatant disrespect for both players and their intelligence and the cultures they take these warriors from. The devs who did care who made this game initially are long gone, we basically have a skeleton crew that is apathetic at best to the game they were forced to work on in the studio to actively and intentionally making bad decisions because they don't care what players want. Like who asked for Pirate? Who asked for Medjay? Literally nobody. And they continuously ignore feedback for the game in favour of their dumbed down designs, as is evidenced by how boring and brain dead recent heroes and hero reworks have been. They don't care. Their actions show they don't care. I don't understand how people can come to any conclusion otherwise when it's so in their face either tbh.

@@robertsteiner4696 once again I disagree. Believe it or not, there are a crap ton of people who say they don’t care about history or the story, they just want a game. So if the majority of people say that they don’t care about the story, why would they add it? Think of a classroom and you’re a teacher. You are all voting for what field trip to go to. If the majority of the class picks one option, you wouldn’t go ahead with the other option. Is the story lame and boring? Absolutely! But I really do think it’s the player base fault. We are a niche group. Nobody wanted a pirate or Egypt warrior? Are you kidding? I couldn’t get away from people who say how much they wanted those heroes, as well as an Aztec warrior. Guess what we got? Those three warriors. They are leaving a lot to be desired, I get it. I really want a better story and new maps. But we are getting more hero fixes which has been making the game better from a gameplay standpoint. If for honor stopped balancing heroes permanently, I don’t care how many maps they make, I won’t play because there is still work to be done that if it’s left unfixed, it would be so much less fun. We are still getting game modes we wanted back, we are still getting heroes, we are still getting armor, and we are still getting patches. They even brought back motion capture for these heroes and the animations are so clean and cool. You don’t like the new heroes? Fine. But just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean it’s a lack of them caring. You can only get so creative with these characters. Eventually they will run out of ideas. If you make some big mechanic be part of the game then guess what? Now every character has to be reworked to address that drastic game which will take a long time. real main problem with game itself is when last time do everyone see a new stories campaign in for honor? When I first saw trailer for wu lin first show on KZbin I’m was hoping for new campaign story long with what new faction do in game modes like dominion with wu lin minion, But all we’s got was one mode breach and 4 wu lin heroes and after that that’s just it.

In terms of a new map why not boat castles chained together for a domination map ? As for heroes they could do a Lu bu based character. It is a pity we don’t have a Jian because it’s such a cool sword I tried making Cao cao’s for zhang hu from three kingdoms 2010 because of how amazing it looks

Yes! These are amazing ideas! The fact that Ubisoft possibly hate you just proves that they are jealous and that your ideas are better in many ways! I will say, that perhaps the other reason the Wu-Lin aren’t used much is because China’s strict and thin skinned ideology? I mean, they banned Winnie the Poo simply because people made memes about him looking like Xi Jingping and I remember some fiasco with Overwatch and how some players were banned for their freedom of speech and Blizzard bend to China’s harsh punishment to the gamer and kept silent, so perhaps Ubisoft doesn’t want to piss off the Chinese government for any reason, even if it’s noble.

I agree with all you said, but I want an inca skin for Ocelotl that speaks quechua and unique voice lines for existing skins. For their price they should have voice acting even if the VA isn’t that great. I mean having a conquistador that doesn’t speak spanish is a bit sacrilegious in terms of immersion.

I mean, if you really think about it they'll probably just characterize the woolen as peaceful and nonviolent as China would probably ban every single one of their products if they actually characterize them as they truly are and ubisoft would lose a whole bunch of money not to mention all of the Twitter backlash and E.S.G. score going massively down. Am I the only person who wants a dagger hero, a Scythe hero, and a rapier hero? The danger hero being an assassin class and would be in either Wui Lin or samurai faction. (Its not traditional yes I know ) The hero would be more of more offensively based. Their parry animation would be like Pk’s crossing the daggers to form a V. It also can have an different stance as they could (in theory) flip the daggers in a forward grip for a charging rush kinda like our “favorite samurai character “. If you’ve watch Vinland saga before I’d like it to almost have that sort of attack or moves like Thorfinn fights. (Let me know what y’all think) The rapier hero is a female character. It’s main focus is cutting and thrusting. Now this hero already sounds like light spammer so here me out. The cuts will obviously be lights but here’s the interesting part. Instead of a slash we use a thrust for a heavy attack. Think about it? We give Valks light animation to her. Or if that a bad idea go with the slashing and make the thrusting either a second or third light hit combo with maybe a bleed affect? This character would be a Knight class. (Let me know what you think btw) I know that Scythes weren’t really used in battle in fact I believe they were farming tools. But you got to think about it. The idea of a scythe character sounds cool. They obviously give black pior a run for their money when it comes to edge lord of for honor. As we all now the scythe is usually connected to that of the grim reaper. However this hero is probably never going to happen. What makes this so hard for me to even think it would happen is the animation themselves? Like what would the parry animation look like? Maybe have it hit on the shaft of the blade but even that is questionable. Idk let me know what you guys think I do have more ideas like a bow and arrow hero. And even with that don’t say it isn’t impossible. We already have a hero with a gun. A bow and arrow is possible.

However there is one flaw in your ideas that can't really be argued against. And that is that your idea would require Ubisoft to write something more complex then "horkos is bad gay horkos do bad things new hero fight horkos" I and I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Well first off the MP factions/map are whack, really need a Viking limiter! No reason to play any other it’s literally a free xp booster. Second Wu Lin as much as I love em are still not quite Samurai 😂 Wu Lin are a fav of mine ever since marching fire would love pirate to be put in her rightful place but she fits in or out historically

I think that the Wu Lin have the "Outlander syndrome" where people feel like if Ubisoft is working on the Wu Lin they arent working on the core 3 factions, and to an extent its totally right. People got into For Honor for Knight vs Viking vs Samurai, and they feel betrayed by Ubi not focusing on those 3.
